this song would go great with a good video of black ops or on the mw3 intro song or tralier, i bet somebody here can make that happen and maybe get them as popular as beber and kiesha and etc.
i was at a concert and 10 years anmd Fair To Midland opened up for Flyleaf, if you see any of these bands in concert you know that they are EPIC!! The lead singer of Fair To Midland got on top of a speaker(which was stacked on top of three other) and jumped right off of it..... he is crazy, and hott
saw these guys in concert last night for the first time@ the masquerade. f'in great. his voice is phenomenal, especially when he hits those high notes. they are amazing live.
@XsinisterbowX saw them yesterday... nothing has changed. hahaha, he was literally hanging from the ceiling singing this song. epitome of rock persona.
I have to admit, I was disappointed when I saw them live yesterday. They even played this song, which I love, and I meh-d. I LOVE them in studio. Sadly, they were disappointing live.
I just saw these guys on tour with Periphery and Scale the Summit. Bought all their CDs on the spot. Great melodies, and I love the old school prog flavor.
@BoorfTheMan are you dissing Those bands or this band? I would definitely rather have STS headline the tour cause they are incredible but they aren't big enough yet, cause people are retarded.
serjical strike(serj tankian) revived them because they were going to quit. Now that they signed to a bigger record label their music will be exposed. hopefully here in Los Angeles KROQ wont be cocks or sold out bitches and will expose FTM's amazing music.
@GN23 let's see you try to nitpick MY fucking grammar, dingleberry. if you truly listened to this and/or anything else by this band...and you truly believe that ppl like JB and kesha "have way more talent"...ugh. lyrics...songwriting...instruments...vox...all areas of IMMENSE TALENT for this band. hard to miss if you're really paying attention.
IF it's just that your taste forces you to avoid any kind of experimental/independent music....i actually have no gripe. can't account for taste
@GrammarNazi23 so you, fancying youself smarter than at least most folks (or why be a grammar nazi?), really and honestly believe that talent has shite-all to do with getting played on the radio? for one, how many ROCK stations are there compared to pop? you can start there...
in other words, smart guy, you have it ass-backwards...
the REASON kesha and bieber (who really does not possess enough talent to fill a urine specimen cup) get so much attention is precisely BECAUSE of radio.
Amazing band, more people need to get into them. I think the lyrics for most of their songs are very personal. The music and the way the words chain together however are universal and even though I don't get everything they are trying to project through the song I really appreciate them as individuals and as artists.
A long time ago, I read on songmeanings about the possible explanations of it being about Hiroshima and Nagasaki and I associated it with that. A few months ago I went to Japan and I happened to be able to go to Hiroshima and visit the museum and peace park. This song makes me cry every time I hear it now.
Eh.. Just a brief going over it's rather confusing. x-x" Off the top of my head I'd just say it would do with a major event, such as Hiroshima. Appeasing our monsters, sating the need for war or conflict.. Under the acrylic sky? Possibly the said bomb created some type of affect in the sky and under the sky would basically mean the victims? x-x" Gah. It's confusing. I'm hopeless. xD
Anyone know the meaning of these lyrics? I absolutely love this song, havnt heard it in years and heard someone say "The walls of jericho" which totally prompted my memory to this song
@GrammarNazi23 Wrong. Its because its mainstream that everybody loves them they're as talented as the lyrics people write for them. Basically means their songs have zero meaning. None. Zippo, get it? And I fair to midland the other week by the way.
@GrammarNazi23 Well... as soon as Justin Beiber's balls drop, which will be around... 3 years from now, his fucked up baby screech that some call a singing voice, will drop and he'll be another useless Disney trademark. Oh how I wait for that day :D
The lyrics are of nothing ever heard before. I loved dance of the manatee years ago, and yet this this song and The wife, The kids and the White picket fence are just incredible. Their music is almost revolutionary. It's feels good to listen to their music again.
@digs0795 Because the fucktard mass media would rather have easy to decipher pop bullshit. Shit that has no lyrical depth is easy for them. This is something they'd have to work to understand, and they wouldn't do that
@digs0795 because it doesn't always take talent to become famous, it usually just takes hype. If fame were based on talent, beiber and kesha would be SOL. The talent difference between those tools and ftm is beyond drastic. Out of control sick is fair to midland.
I wouldn't put it past Andrew to give out different lyrics to different people, sometimes he doesn't even remember them, haha. But seriously, he has every right to not give us the meanings or the exact words, and we have every right to take this song and decide what it means to us personally. No matter what, they are all amazing musicians and men, and at the end of the day no one can argue that.
These guys will be around for a while. Too bad everything is so ratings and sales oriented in the business, as these guys crush just about any new groups. Their audience will grow and they will prevail. Killer post, apb
heart of harp would work, actually, on that issue.. maynard used to do that shit too. just try to find you own shit for the music. leave him alone lol ^_^ but give me answers! ^_- thnx
and the whole "appeasing our monsters" thing....there used to be a "misheard lyrics" vers of this song on here, but it was taken down. In the misheard vers it said "I'm pleasing a monster" and it had a chick kneeling down in front of a vampire looking guy. And that was called misheard lyrics b/c they were wrong. "I'm piecing up myself, under the acrylic sky" is the correct lyric. Someone talk to Darroah and tell me I'm wrong.....
This song is so inspiring to me as a musician. Fair to Midland is just so unique and individual, and thats hard to find these days! And i do believe the vocals are some of the best of our decade. I'm tired of hearing that cookie cutter voice and this just sticks out of the crowd. Fair to Midland is truly in a league of their own.
@jacobtheguitarfreak Couldn't agree more (though I'm not a musician). Fair to Midland aren't afraid to mix different styles and dynamics that are outside of the usual mainstream favorites.
@jacobtheguitarfreak These guys are amazing live, and his vocals inspired me to continue and pursue my dream of being a vocalist myself. One of my favorite bands
The bands official website had the lyrics up but the site is under construction right now....but I can guarantee you that mine are the correct lyrics. I've been a fan of this band for about 6 yrs and I've heard the demos of this song for years. "I'm piecing up my self"
@vezi38 Nonononono It's "string up your harp". I've had backstage passes to the concerts. I've talked to the lead twice, and me and a friend were having a debate over this. He himself said it was "String up your harp."
I hung out with "the lead", Andrew Darroah Sudderth, and he said "heart".....harp WOULD make more sense, which is why I'm sure he dosent' use it....they're lyrics don't usually make sense.....he never reveals what the songs are about, so he probably just told us 2 different things, he likes being weird
Use your mind man..He told you 2 different things because he wants YOU to determine the meaning of the song..Not get spoonfed the meaning!
Everyone has a different outlook on things..music is NO different. Think about that. He isnt "weird" he wants you to open your mind allowing you to evolve mentally. "Think for yourself" (Tool Reference)
