  • wot people do 4 money!

  • this is sad.

  • stupid. pointless.

  • I can imagine the frustration as he is not being able to put down even a little power. Funny film. :-)

  • @Fastbikkel

I was thinking the exact same thing!

  • Damn thing can't accelerate. no grip.

  • Google: ALDO FLAQUER

    Youtube: PASION FIERRERA PIQUENSE

  • Why?

  • whats with the music let the car sing for its self.

  • wonder if hey used high downforce setup :)

  • got paddle tires?

  • Lose the music

  • f1 rally car sweeeeeeeeeet. needs studs on those tires

  • lol, they did have studs, the manufactuer had them put in by hand... i bet the workers there must've had fun doing that...

  • is the duffman song :L:L

  • i like rally. i wanna do this with my wrx

  • wat was he doing....?

  • but the video.. very nice video xD

  • Heidfeld, win a race at least to leave F1, but I like Heidfeld still not win races

  • OMG oy uput that fucking gay ass song from grand tursimo on here.....

  • lol... the only songs i know from gran turismo, are the menu's ones...

  • yh this is the song they play wen u fail. therefore this is actually the fail song :D

  • lol, i just noticed that, is this song from GT3???

  • gt4

  • By the way...that song is written and performed by Yello, a german group back in the 80's...just can't name of the track.

  • this song sux tho...

  • Oh, Yeah :) is the name of the song.

  • The way I remember it.. it's the Pamela Anderson song.. :) It'll always be a win song for me... LOL

  • we should have a snow race

  • Snow studs would be nice.

  • Heidfeld

  • like trying to control a fist full of hell

  • put some belts on the tires :D

  • THERE IS NO TRACTION CONTROL IDIOT

  • @ letswangchung, sorry but there was in 2007, it was only 2008 when they banned it

  • if you can`t hear it you`re deaf. it is speed relative. at low speeds he can wheelspin.

  • w ferrari !!!!!

  • Cool vid. But that must have felt like weed whacking with a chainsaw. Just awkward and scary - the absolute definition of 'the wrong tool for the job'.

  • Traction control is now banned from F1.

  • now that jacque villenueve is out of formula 1?Fuck those FIA!

  • it's bannend for the whole last season :-D such an idiot

  • you dont really watch the formula one do you? remember that traction control was banned last year. The traction control would stop the car completely on ice so he can do donuts because he has no traction control. Traction control stops engine power by cutting the spark to one or more pistons so on ice it would have to stop all pistons but one causing the car to stall.

  • There is no TC in F1

  • there was no traction control in 2008 it was banned

  • lol We don't need everyone mentioning that traction control is banned

Oh yeah did you know they banned it in 2008?

  • Glad to see you're keeping up to date with the sport.

  • f1 doesnt have TCS nowadays

  • sweet

  • this is the future of F1!

  • Why not, snow races would be very cool and on snow you need a lot of high-tech to keep a vehicle on the track. Would be very exciting!

  • If this is ever what formula one becomes, i will cry. But thankfully, its not exactly likely.

  • they should put a 4-banger then, will be much better...

  • I can do everything that F1 car just did in my 1995 Ford Ranger with 95 HP!!!!!

This is stupid and whoever thought of it should be put under the ice!!!

  • can you help how was the ozo driver just before alan jones

  • whats this for. are they gonna do a race at the north pole or something

  • wow that car had no grip. look at how little throttle was needed to spin it around

  • Great show!!! you are very lucky to have been there when it happened!

  • rum rum REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE rum

  • that looks like too much fun

  • Gdyby tam wsadzili Kubice to by pokazal jak sie jezdzi bokami na sniegu...

  • zawiele by niezmienił... elektronika go ogranicza :D

  • Great video! It is not usual to see them on snow.Today it was hot on Hungaroring Budapest.

  • They should have got the guys from the arab drift videos to do it. ;)

  • your an idiot.

  • a que poquitas revoluciones debe de ir...jejeje

  • ah why is heding this?

  • OH YEAH by Yello awsome 80s tune :D

  • lol The car probably went faster when they pushed it off the truck.

  • That's interesting, I have never seen F1 car driving on snow, I thought they can only drive on asphalt.

  • dude whats the name of the backing track? ive heard it on a few 80's movies

  • Whats the deal with fi and indy cars are they the same thing?

  • f1 is MORE: money,speed,glamour & bigger engines

  • indy cars is pretty low tech compared to f1

  • It's a BMW williams, before the sauber era.

  • no, the other way around..believe me:)

  • no its a BMW Sauber F1.07 and even look at the date on the vid.

  • you could be more wrong, i guess? if you mentioned ferrari in there somewhere.

  • looked like the rear tires had snow spikes on them?

  • Calm down dude. Nobody died. Take a fresh coke and a breath...

  • dudde calm down! Im a extreme f1 fan too, i am actually racing cars. like they are trying to see how it is on snow and make something interesting, it is not a waste of the car, maybe of the fuel.

  • dude it's for the fans get over it.

  • Porsche isn't in F1 because they can't afford it.

  • yeah dude that sucks. wish they could be

  • there is a little Stresses the soil fertility

  • Well done Nick for keeping 800hp in a line with no grip. Stick some ice tyres on it and then see what it can do :-)

  • there just messing around with 1 mil ++ cars. No wonder porsche does not want in on F1 racing.

  • haha that shit is crazy, idk how that even works! wouldnt the temperature of the tires melt the ice so quick there'd be no traction?

or would it just turn into ice and give the tires no grip at all?

  • you need fraction between the tires and the asphalt to keep them warm, and you need to drive fast to get enough friction. So no, the tires wouldn't melt the ice. The reason there's no traction is because it's ice, even with special tires it's hard to get any grip.

  • i would never have thought.......

  • wtf guys your comments have nothing to do with this video!!!!!

great video man! ignore the fools below

  • F1 cars have the best grip than all cars !

  • Lol. an old 90hp Audi Quattro is faster than a F1 car on snow..

  • DID u Get what I SAID ? huh ...i said BEST GRIP OF ALL !!!

  • yea, but they don't grip the best here, they have way to much power to drive on snow. An old 90hp Audi Quattro would probably have much better grip because of the 4WD. A F1 car only grips if you drive fast enough to keep the tires warm and create enough downforce. Have you seen how they spin if the driver turns the TC off? Even in fourth gear they spin because of the power.

  • absolutely pointless... what does this vid prove? that an F1 car can't drive on snow. WELL DONE EINSTEIN!!!

  • yeah well done, could you do betteR?

  • i dont know why BMW feel that they have to fuck about like this impress..... surely thier on track repuation is enough.......

  • well he int gonna crash a 2m pound f1 car into a barier duh think...

  • I actually know a lot about motorsports :) More than you. And the infield in silverstone circuit was tiny and ofcourse someone with no racing experience isn't brave enough to drive the car fast enough to even warm the tires. But like i said already two times, for example Valentino Rossi drove very good times in a F1 when he tried it for the first time. Im not meaning that it's a car that anyone can drive in your hometown, but it is by far the most advanced and best handling racing car ever.

  • You idiot. You think the americans dont do well at F1 cause it is harder for them to drive F1 cars than it is for the european drivers? Car handling and speed is two totally different things. Valentino Rossi who had never sat in a f1 car took a lesson from the engineer and drove very fast times with it from the start. F1 is easy if you have any racing background. And anyways the Top Gear video doesnt make any sense, ofcourse it is hard to drive F1 in a damn parking lot xD

  • rossi...shumacher...senna, people like that have racing in their blood, give em anythin wiv wheels and an engine and there gonna instantly adapt

  • He drives family cars mostly. And you got me wrong, ofcourse F1 is not easy for a normal guy but for an open wheeler racer it's the ultimate and best handling machine they could hope for.

  • lol what is that thing doing in the snow? It had too much power, it didn't do so well.

  • lol nice

  • Awesome

  • The driver gets paid to do that? Fuck my life!

  • the driver is nick heidfeld and gets paid anyway A LOT hehe

  • It's not as easy as it looks. F1 cars are tightly tuned machines designed to perform under a very tight set of perimeters.

    1) The tires have absolutely no grip, especially when they're in the snow.

    2) Much of the cars grip is generated by downforce that comes with speed.

    3) Many catches within the car itself means that the driver has to know the car well to avoid stalling it, especially under such low speed conditions.

There are more factors, but I'm out of room

  • I'm sorry but you have totally wrong idea of Formula 1. Formula 1 is not like most of people think, it's not so that the cars are difficult to drive. They are the easiest cars to drive on the planet, it is just the huge amount of talent and guts that makes them get paid so much. It is easy to drive a formula 1 car just like in a game, but it's not easy to be fast against the best drivers in the world.

  • And I assume you know this from experience?

You must, as you know that they are the easiest cars on the planet to drive... All that downforce surely makes up for the 800+hp, motors revving at a million rpms, and lack of any driver aids (2008 on...)

    Easiest cars to drive.

I have a feeling we've driven about the same amount of F1 cars in our life times...

  • No, but i have talked with people who have really driven F1 cars and are making driving simulators. and it's not only the downforce that creates grip, the F1 cars also generate HUGE amounts of mechanical grip, so you cant compare them with normal cars. And even if the cars have 800 hp the engines are still made driveable.

  • When you say that the motors are still made drivable, it is true. But its also relative. The motor turns 19000rpms, and has a certain rev range where it makes all its power. There is a certain rev range where the driver is going to know that he's about to get kicked in the back, but thats the same with any racing vehicle. Its a fundamental part of creating as much power as you can.

Most grip comes from aero, the mechanical grip is roughly the same that can be made with a lot of openwheelers

  • The mechanical grip is obviously dependant on tire compounds, tire size, and the suspensions ability to basically shove the tires into the ground without binding the vehicle up. Unlike aero grip, where you can constantly bend the flow of the air, mechanical grip has its limits.

  • Yep, but you maybe got me wrong. I propably put it wrong when i said the easiest cars in the world, what i meant was the easiest and the best racing cars to drive.

If you see comments from people that have tested the F1 for the first time, they say something like ''it was from a video game, you could do anything and brake as late as you wanted''

  • nah, you are wrong.

  • is there some kinda testing purpose to this or do they do it just to entertain people

  • Ya really. In the world of F1 this seems to me like a collosal waist of time. At least put some studded tires on the car. Geez???

  • Way too many ponies and not enough weight for slick conditions like that. The music is also on Gran Turismo during the liscence tests.

  • cool music its from the simpsons...duff man!!!!

  • its not just from the simpsons

  • It's on Gran Turismo 4 as well when you fail a licence test.

  • i think of the song best from the movie ferris bullers day off

  • Clearly what you people don't realise is that it is purely for publicity. It wasn't done to say an F1 car is the quickest on snow because anyone with any knowledge could tell you it wont be. Hmm let me think, tones of HP, rear wheel drive, mm of the ground yeh exactly what you want for an ice going car. STOP COMPLAINING.

  • thats a lame waste of the car...a 76 pinto would beat any f1 in those conditions.

  • i hat this fucking shit music fuck the songggggggggg

  • watch?v=EsRW0TaJOMI

  • why did you put this fucking shit music in this video!? >:(

  • Cool but i think i speak from all gt4 drivers when i say FUCK THE SONG

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA I know right?

  • this was useless.

  • only bm!

  • Actually, Formula 1 cars don't have a set HP since, all the teams are so secretive about it... But the supposed rating is around 800HP. Now just think. If only Formula 1 Cars had 4WD... Hmm... That'd be sweet.

  • corr this is slow, watch the rally boys on thinner roads, etc then you will see real driver skill

  • That's right. But a Formula 1 car has about 700 bhp, a World Rallye Car 300 bhp. It is "easier" with less power.

  • true i suppose, you have a point! but still rally drivers have total skill on ice and snow etc, this was a pointless show!

  • ROFLMAO!! retard... although im a BMW fan xD

  • the most pointless thing i've seen in ages

  • i agree withyou!!! he couldnt even juice it, evn he had spec tires, snow is the most gripless surface you can be!!!, it was like racing on an track covered on oil...pointless

  • just shows how good of a driver he is to keep it in a straight line.

  • i dont really see the point of this..

  • boring as bat shit! - might as well take the tyres off and drive on pizza cutters - no idea what racing is about - you need some traction and slip angles or it doesn't mean shit - read some carrol smith!

  • Does anybody know if it's equipped with snow tires? Which ones? I can't see how a 600+ horsepower RWD car can drive without them on snow - especially so stable and fast.

  • Another video showed a close-up of the tires. They are Bridgestone Potenzas which they studded - apparently a custom job.

  • What's the music?

  • it's YELLO "oh Yeah" 1987, yello are known as godfather of techno...you might know it from Ferris Bueller's Day Off...

  • Yes, that's excactly where I remember that music... :I

  • I remember it as the Duffman theme music!

  • thx for vids very nice..

  • That is the best surface you could possibly drive an F1 car on.

  • surely you are forgetting gravel?
