Cant just blame the labels my friend. Rappers know it sells too... Check out myspace or any website with unsigned artists. They are all talking about violence... Its hard to find rappers who arent violent... A label would be hard pressed to find a positive rapper from this bunch...

Yeah well if hip hop didnt pride itself on "keeping it real", then maybe we would see more creativity. Imagine if hip hop were more like the film industry. People playing characters and making up stories... A lot more room for creativity!

keeping it real gets a bad rap. it actually is a good concept. it means if your not a badass in real life, dont be one on your record. it means write about personal things and not abstract concepts that someone else tells you to rap about, be it a record company or the culture around you.

Hip hop has Great potential to be a WONDERFUL thing.. However in it's current state it is absolutely GARBAGE ..
