@VolOpt2 From an American perspective: Back when we had good and well drawn cartoons (great anime too), less crap on TV, great memorable video games that focused on gameplay rather than graphics, Sega was still making consoles, great music, the economy wasn't very bad, easier to raise kids, things were cheaper (especially gas), we had our constitutional rights and privacy fully respected, not too many major disasters, no war (for us), and lots more. Just telling you isn't enough =(

How about "Quake of '89" in Bay Area or Typhoon Gay that hit Thailand? Everything is cheaper 2 decades ago, not just gas. US invasion of Panama? Tiananmen Square protest? Bush Sr. setting up crack deal near White House to show it on national tv? Just telling you isn't enough. Life didn't start sucking after '89. You had no clue about what was going on in '89.
