  • guitar sounds a little like cat stevens doing katmandu

  • I don't know which is better on this track, her voice or that beautiful guitar? She is prolific and makes every note and every sound count as if her life depended on it!

  • shudap... good song

  • luvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

  • sheryl crow??? she sucks!!! PJ IS A QUEEN!!!

  • god bless cheryl and all but she sounds like shes half sedated most of the time like a classic serotonin reuptake-botox-ed so cal girl..now PJ she has something to say..xoox

  • i'm looking for the tabs of this one but i can't find it ... help me lorddd, or you!

  • cómo son los acordes de este tema?? no los encuentro x ningun lado, si alguien me pasa el dato x mensaje agradecida!

  • the first time i heard this album i thought it was some dude on the guitars trying to be tom morello but it was all her...maybe vain of me but imho this album is like her Seattle sound album to me...sort of like "Stories" was New York-ish

    I think it's GREAT!

  • Luv this song!Especially the guitar.Makes me want to go&buy aused one to try and atleast learn enough chords to play this.Gave up years ago. This makes me want to try again & stick w/it.She doesn't get nearly enough notice. kc822

  • Great song, awful topic, did this really happen to her??

  • I wouldn't dismiss Polly as not being Grammy material. She's already won the Mercury Music Prize, the first woman to do so.. Her Stories album also made it into Time Magazine's 100 greatest albums. She's certainly gaining recognition. But her refusing to pander to mainstream makes a Grammy harder for PJ to achieve.

  • she just busted out this song live in nyc 4-19-11, balances out the macro of the latest album with some of her more internal personal songs.... divinely deep!

  • she does did this 4-19-11NYC... she is amazing, all the songs besides from let england shake amazing personal vulnerable... where she is at. love to connect, how?

  • Cheryl Crowe like?? Nope.

  • Thankfully..............PJ Harvey is never going to be Grammy material!

  • @roxeffe Oh dear . . . .

  • How anybody could put Polly and Sheryl Crow in the same sentence is beyond me . . .!!!

  • I happened to think that this piece of eccentricity artist is pretty cool. I heard this album and thought where does this lady come from?

  • no one likes to be picked apart.........white material will stain, my pocket knife's gotta shiny blade......

  • The comparison to Sheryl Crow was way off from the start. Sheryl had a commercial start but there is no denying she has an awesome talent and is her own artist. . See her live and there is no dispute. PJ has always been experimental so no commercial fame for her. That said, all of her stuff isn't good and some is total crap. I mean, she's remained a force because she is talented AND pushes boundaries. But to get to those good gems, she seems to put out a lot of bad, bad music to pay the price.

  • @stricklandnc you have got to be kidding me. PJ is superior to Sheryl in all but record sales. The way you described each woman's talent is totally inversed.

  • @stricklandnc well, my personal experience is that up until "is this desire" (included) i could pretty much listen to all of her albums from start to end and like them to the bone. but from "stories from the city" it got weird (still many great songs but it just felt different somehow) and then later on it felt like she didn't actually have that much to give/say anymore.

or maybe she's just talking in a language i don't understand these days. very likely.

  • When Robert Plant and Alison Krauss were gathering songs for their collaboration album back in 2007 with Allen Toussaint, Elvis Costello was helping them and suggested this song (Elvis is a friend of Polly's I think). They covered it but Krauss wasn't satisfied with her performance so it was left off the album.

  • awesome channel

  • blackkendoll82.....someone who speaks my language..ya ya:P! lol

  • She's badass on guitar too. Something people seem to forget.

  • pj harvey makes my bodyyy move

  • who cares if you are a vegetarian. this is youtube, not a fucking health club.go back to your hillbilly records lossssssssseeeeeeeeerr. you are art tarded.

  • your moms an ugly american pig. she must be ashamed to have had you. go back to your kkk village you coon eating squirrel stew redneck hippie jack knife toothed mother fucker. HAHAHA. you think you are fucking cool, but trust me, listening to bob dylan makes you fucking stupid because his shit is copy catting a lot of music i know. go learn something about music instead of downing real music that means something so much more than you will ever hope to know. *punches your pig mom in her stomach*

  • we're all hypocrites so stfu you racist pig. you're the one who's saying the "n" word. you don't even know wtf that word is. probably because you're a stupid american hippie who eats t.v. dinners or lives off ramen fuckin noodles. go back to day labor loser!!!!

  • Who ever said this wasn't a fairy tale world. I'm not saying chord progression doesn't matter, but it all comes down to whether or not you like that type of music. Bob dylan is fucking boring.

  • it doesn't matter how many chords are in a song, it's how you play them. RETARD!!!

  • you're mother must be ashamed to have had you. she's probably an ugly american pig. go do heroin you stpid hippie HAHAHHA

  • we're all entitled to our opinion here. bob dylan committed plagiarism. he was good, but he still copied other musicians. musics about the reflectioin of your personality and all your experience to date. from what all can tell, you sound like a racist prick and deserve to be kicked in the balls... then slammed over the head with an acoustic guitar. go jerk off to some lynard skynard free bird you pathetic hippie fuck! LMFAO!!!

  • that's rich; coming from a ridiculous sad cunt.

  • Personal opinion - asshole. Seriously get a life and grow up, rather than pouncing on every person who's a fan of hers.

  • If I were to accept the opinion of a complete cunt, then I'd agree with you.

  • she's an epic musician to be remembered for many generations to come.

  • I love her, beautiful person in a lot of ways

  • she's still the best....

  • i love this, i was like wow! at this point she's almost at neil young stature...but yaa..idk...white chalk has me convinced she's the neil young of this generation

  • What are you smokin? I'll admit niel has a legendary status but She is more than he was as far as this generation, I'd say she's more like bob dylan. Her song writing is divine.

  • Oh please Sheryl Crow doesn't have an original bone in her body.

Peej is always pushing boundaries and searching for new sounds. She never plays safe. Puts herself out there with every record. However many risks she takes, the end result is always just pure class and quality.

  • @ShoeiBoy PJ could kick her ass, easy

  • @ShoeiBoy Look up We Do What We Can.

PJ is unique and exceptional, but your hyperbole just demonstrates your ignorance.

  • @sanityimpaired

    haha oh do fuck off.

  • Nice

  • This song is fabulous, please don't compare this singer to Sheryl Crow, they don't play in the same class...

    Thanks for sharing, anyway...

  • i meant the way her voice sounds.....it even says it on amazon about this song from the critics....im a huge fan of both and not comparing in no way

  • Me too iam a hudge fan of both pj a lil more but whats that about downloads in private mssging?? hit me up!!:::subscribe::-click_ and nice pj playlist ,bravo!

  • @blackkendoll82

Amazon?? Ha ha. Are there people that keep bothering with this...authority? :D

    Best PJ album. Great!!

    Sheryl is just lifestyle.

  • @blackkendoll82 I like Sheryl, but really, this one doesn't remind me of her at all! They're on two different musical planets, even if the vocals were similar, the style is so different that the comparison doesn't even knock at my ear! :)

By the way, love this song, love this kind of medieval atmosphere there is in many songs on UHH!

  • @legnomenoir oh my thoughts exactly. polly jean is in a world of her own, far, far removed from ms crow...

  • @legnomenoir - Any Sherly dated Lance Armstrong seriously when she knew that he had previously made out with Paris Hilton and an Olsen Twin. Ugh Ugh Uh Huh Her.

  • @legnomenoir they do have similar voices but PJ Harvey is actually a lyrical mastermind where sheryl crow is nothing more than a corporate whore who doesn't much of an imagination.

  • thanks .
