"Mississippi State running back LaDarius Perkins: He tallied 319 all-purpose yards, the second-highest total in school history, in Mississippi State’s 31-23 win at Ole Miss. Perkins caught three passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 98 yards on 13 carries and had 65 kick return and 16 punt return yards."
@stratocasterbastard Yeah that game was early in the season: before the conference figured out Malzahns smoke-and-mirrors offense. You guys went 5-0 in '09, thought you were badass, then tanked like a Japanese sub, losing to Kentucky and Georgia, lol, and then barely squeaking by some high school team called Northwestern. I'd wait a year or so before proclaiming premature victories.
Congratulations! I think you got a great one in Perkins. We sure wanted him on the Plains. You guys added another great class to your impressive roster. The SEC is looking better every year.
Great highlights, but I agree the music leaves something to be desired.
In any case, this kid is impressive...he would tear it up with BYU, in the MWC (tougher than the PAC-10, BIG 10, Big [L]East, and the ACC, IMHO).
A back like Perkins would not only be a huge asset and a star at BYU, but MWC defenses wouldn't know what to do with him, having to deal with Manase Tonga & Harvey Unga as well.
LaDarius...you should really come to BYU. The fans would LOVE to see you suit up in Cougar Blue!
As much as I'd like to have him in Auburn, their style of play would hinder him. If he were to go to BYU however, I can't even imagine the damage he could do on the field there. For those of you who think the MWC is a crap conference, just open your eyes for two seconds and take a good look at the 'all-mighty' PAC-10.
I love how this kid runs through the goalline on almost every run. So many RBs let up when they get close, but Perkins leans into it as if he is crossing the finish line to a race. I hope to see him in Cougar blue next year.
Heard BYU was recruiting this kid. He would shred MWC defenses apart! It would look like LaDanian Tomlinson did when he was in the Conf. USA and the WAC. He could outrun every defensive back in the mtn. west... might be a good chance to showcase his talent?
A Mountain West D like Utah's? They just shut down Bama's run game didn't they? Would he shred TCU? Oklahoma only got 25 rushing yards on TCU this year. BYU's D shut out two teams this year (one from the "mighty" Pac 10) Hum, maybe the Mtn. West is a little better that they get credit for? Just a thought.
The same Utah defense that BYU ran all over for 214 yards this year with Unga gaining 116 of? Sure Utah concentrated mainly on BYU's passing game, but they couldn't stop BYU's rushing game for the life of them. 7 ypc says it all. LaDarius Perkins would be awesome as a Cougar. With him and Unga in the backfield, and assuming Max Hall screws his head on straight and starts checking off defenders, with the receivers we have with McKay Jacobson back next year, BYU could have an unstoppable offense.
upper echelon speed, burning acceleration. GREAT open field skills . auburn should go back to their spread look, emphasizeing the run. zone read and option the ball off with fast personel like this, it would be devastating. perkins, mccaleb, pierre-louis. fannin and burns too would make this base package tricky to defend, forcing the weak side DE to make containment decisions. stretch the defense out and give the offense advantageous numbers to run the ball. I like the potential. WAR EAGLE
Would love to see you come to Auburn. You would make an immediate impact on the Auburn team. You're the real deal man and exactly what Auburn needs right now.
I think you would fit great into the offense at Southern Miss. We have some huge O-Linemen committed this year already. 6'8 300, 6'5 305, both are JUCO transfers. Only losing one starter on the offensive line this year. These guys are gonna open some huge holes. SMTTT!
Ladarius..I believe in you as being in you as the next TRUTH at Auburn. 2008 has been tough, but a guy like you can change everything. I will be pulling for you as the next AU legend. War Damn Eagle.
Ay the video don't lie they nigga is that good. I know cause I played against him two years straight and got whooped, lol. I hope you go all the way fam for real.
whoo, go irish! ha i go to st joe too. =] i've only gone to one football game. it was this year's homecoming game when st joe played montgomery (sp?) or something like that. i just know that we won, lol
I went to school with this guy last year. He may seem like the average guy just walking through the hall, but when its time to put on his pads, there is nothing average about him at all.
War damn Eagle LaDarius, welcome to the plains, and into the Auburn family we are very glad to have you!Ignore the Bammers for now my friend, you will get your chance at redemtion soon enough on the field at Jordan Hare!!!!!WOW these highlights are great, this kid can do it all,esp like his hands.THIS KID CAN CATCH AS WELL AS HE RUNS!!!!L.P.will trive in the spread,he will get the ball alot of ways.Auburn the right choice for him?Damn straight how many backs do we have playing on Sundays?Add another
I haven't seen the pass block abilities yet, but a kid like this WILL learn what he needs when he gets to Auburn. A special thanks to duckslayer for this post! This kid can't really be compared to anyone cause he is LaDarious. He writes his own history pages. Welcome to Auburn Mr. Perkins! Don't pay any attention to the bammer posts. You've made the decision...now focus on your senior year and have fun! War Eagle!!!
As someone that has seen this kid in person on many occasion I can verify that he is the real deal. What you don't see is that he does run a 4.4 and getting better and has a 36 inch verticle along with a bench press of about 320. This kid has something that you can not teach vision. And for the guy that was not impressed, his offensive line is not that good. I am Aurburn orange and blue and thrilled to see Dario as we call him join a great school.
hey man i resent that.. im one of his offensive linemen and we do alright seeing as we dont have anyone over 220 on the o-line. we do open holes for him to run through though
I think what they mean is there is no D! talent blocking for him. You guys had some good blocks in there. Live it up cause for a lot of us High School is all you get. Ladrius is an excellent back with great shoulder lean and speed. WDE Hope you guys take state!
oh yeah i know i would never go D1 as an offensive lineman unless i gained like 80-90 pounds.. ill probably get recruited as a DE.. which is what i play on defense and you can ask Dario i can compete on the next level and i plan to
Man the man thing for good weight gain is to make sure you eat your 3 square meals a day. Not doughnuts or twinkies. There are a lot of weight gain ideas online. Tells you when to overload the carbs and eat high on the protein. WDE Cant wait till Ladarius is in the backfield at Auburn. He is making a wise choice going to Tony Franklin. Watch Auburn this year and you will see what I mean.
Nice vision, super long strides, quick, fast. Will be a great fit for the spread. Things to work on...learn how to run with the ball closer to your body, practice cutting back inside, as the spread relies on the running back seeing the cutback lanes. Welcome to Auburn.
That was weak! I watched 2 minutes of it and all I see is a guy running in wide open spaces with guys on a bad defense. There were maybe 1 or 2 instances that I saw with him in traffic or breaking tackles that showed his talent, but otherwise not much I could tell in the 2 minutes I watched when a truck could have driven through that open field. Again, the rest of the video might prove otherwise, but my opinion is based on the 1st 2 minutes
Maybe you need to learn to be more respectful of others who you disagree with. I don't HAVE to shut the fuck up about anything as I'm just as entitled to post on this video as you are. You think he's awesome...does that make you more right? I wasn't impressed by what I see in the first few minutes of the video, even though he might turn out to be the next Bo Jackson...does that make me right or more wrong? It's just MY opinion. Unlike you though, I respect your right to disagree with it
One of the best running backs that I have seen on film. Stay humble, stay focused, get prepared to come to Auburn and be ready to prove yourself. Most importantly don't slack on the grades. War Eagle! We'll be watching you in an Auburn jersey soon.
