  • are you crossfading with the arm thats not on the plate??

  • get it homie

  • god dam it !!! nice skilll

  • Nice..

  • hahaha what the fuck its going on with all those serato haters!!! even if he was looking at the screen how does that change anything? he is not even mixing, its like looking at the vinyl to see wheres your sticker mark as you see on DMC championships STOP HATING!!! just because you can't do what he does, or can't afford to buy serato, doesn't give you the right to bitch about it, so go ask your mom or dad if they can buy serato for you, and stop bitchin'. OH!! by the way nice scratching!!.

  • what records are you using mate?

  • tight yo

  • damn u got skiiillz..that was awsome!

  • Stop Looking at the damn laptop...

  • Its my screen!

I can look at it if I want to ;)

  • Ha Ha.. :) It doesn't look professional when you keep looking at it. Makes you look like an Amature.. Seriously. I know you're not an amature.

I know there are going to be a lot of hate for my comments but... I am serious though.

  • lol whats up with that attitude? "doesn't look pro" ?

what the hell is that supposed to mean lol =P you should start thinking of what a "pro" really means. is it someone that know's "how to look cool" on the stage or actually scratch n mix with skills? I'm not saying this just cause I dont have anything other to do. but it annoyed me :p anyways have a nice day :p

  • Looking cool is not professional. Knowing what you are doing and having ages of experience makes you a professional. Hanksta has experience and he is a professional and there's no doubt about it.

But my point is that looking at the screen while you're doing what you're doing is not very professional. If you're using serato, traktor or any of these vinyl simulators you tend to look at the screen a lot to beat match, cue your music and samples. Look at the old time DJ's when they didn't have

  • i have now got a hercules trim 4&6. n i hav a numark dmx06 mixer w/ effects n eq. n dont look at the screen after i load the songs. i dont have keyboard shortcuts setup or hav a midi controler. n still rock the shit. i think it's harder to scratch n do technique's w/ timecode vinyl. but maybe i'm not used to it. used to using sample records which u can use both timecode n normal vinyl to do your mixing.

  • Didn't have all those software. They did everything by listening and cueing using headphones. It always looked cool and also professional.

There's no doubt that Hanksta is a good DJ and turntablist, I don't argue that. What I do argue is looking at the screen and making yourself look like an Amature.. I hope you all get what I am trying to say here......

  • well I take back some of what I said. I just jumped to a conclusion. I really cant say anything here cause I dont have experience (but dreaming of becoming a DJ sometime tho :D) I get your point and I agree with you now :) sorry for beeing a idiot in my previous coment =P

  • I get what your trying to say, but if you look at professional DJ's like Z-trip ,Jazzy Jeff even DJ AM (RIP) they're all using computers, they all look at the screen.

If I was doing a DMC competition I would not look at the monitor.

But this is youtube and I'm having fun so relax.

Back in the days you didn't have a screen to look at, in a sense looking at the screen is like looking at the turntable.

In the future people will say its unprofessional to wear headphones.

    My thoughts ;)

    PEACE!

  • Mr Hanksta,

Look at Q-bert he still uses vinyl. He's the god of turntablism. He doesn't need any vinyl simulation software. But le's look at guys who uses software but only uses it so that they don't have to carry heavy crates of music around.

    1. DJ FLY (2008 DMC Champion)

2 DJ Craze (1998-2000 DMC Champ)

    3. DJ Vajra

All these guys use software but you don't see them constantly looking at the screen. They only look at it when they load a song or smple.

  • Al the DJ's you mention above use Serato.

as a matter a fact met most of them check my my space.

Yes they still use traditional vinyl too so do I.

But is this Art form is going to be pushed any further you need to open your mind and embrace technology.

Guitarist who played acoustic guitars now play electric guitars too.

These programs are created to make life easier like the remote control for your TV.

    Like a Microwave Oven..

The world is changing my friend and some people are changing with it..

  • Look all these softwares have made life easy for the DJ's all around the world but now the softwares are too advanced for our own good. They have become like that new game DJ hero.

I say use these softwares so that you don't have to carry loads of crates for every gig you play, but don't use it as some game that you mix and match the colour coded signals like in games.

  • I know you guys are going to hate me for this but.. hey.. I still love DJing and I still think of it as an Art and use of talen over gaming skills... :)

  • @djscratchdog dude you should get your songs on DJ Hero haha :D

  • shut up he can do what he wantss
