I live close to North Bergen (2 towns away) and hear this sound at night all of the time. Years ago, we called PSEandG (our power company)in a panic to inquire about it. They told us not to worry, they let the steam out of their huge steam pipes during the night, which cause this sound. The pipes are huge, look like silos. The power plant is located a few miles away from North Bergen.
I heard this sound in West Virginia about a month ago on 3 separate occasions. but it sounded more like a giant steam locomotive chugging across the hilltop. Personally, I think it's the sound of the Earth slipping off it's axis. Once the Earth can no longer stand the stress of the wobble, bloop, the south pole becomes the north pole in about 28 minutes. Meaning, we're all dead and the planet starts over again.

Loudest at the end each time.
i've read that in countries all over the world they had some type of strange noise or humming noise with no explanation. where in north bergen do you live im from there as well

I heard this same thing in Minnesota on May 8th 2011 at approximately 12:30 am. I don't know how long it lasted. I thought it was a low flying airplane or something, but there was nothing I could see anywhere that could have been making the noise. I know it went on for at least 15 minutes. It was going when I came outside and still going when I had to go back inside. Very eerie!
this has been happening in many different places - and noted by many peoples (newscasts in florida/georgia have reported on it as well as recently in Virgina /hampton roads area)

I hear this noise every weekend about 3am also, I live in Dale City, VA. But I have figured out where it is coming from, our local Sewer Plant, My guess it's some kind of pressure release valve popping off. It last for about 5-10 mins.

No. There were no flashes of any kind. It was just this noise and it did around like it was above us. No shaking, no flashes, just unusual noise. I cut it off because there was nothing to see and I figured who would want to watch a long video of noise.
I live in Englewood NJ and I told my wife and mom about this sound months ago even before Above Top Secret began talking about it!. My area has Newark, LaGuardia, and Kennedy Airports - as well as Trains, buses, and subways. We are VERY familiar with ALL kinds of sounds......this is clearly something else that is not a naturally occurring sound.
It sounded like it was right in my backyard Irish. I ignored it started and stopped. But when it started again my wife and I got nervous with all the end of the world talk. Maybe underground digging, maybe not either way you hear it just like I did in the video.

I thought it was a pressure release valve at a steel works in the north east of England .. but it wasn't .. and that was in 1998!
