Awesome game, I've had it for awhile and played for only a few minutes. But I hooked it up to see what music it had, then started driving in car with it with the control stick on the ds 2. Very awesome game, especially in the ford gt 40.

look, its not a great racing sim. As i said, most top times are by cheaters so few bother even racing this game. The times that are not are by supertuned cars, which i personally dont like because they are BS (over 400kmh? bs). So much as i understand you like the game, im not exactly impressed you finished in the top 100. Did you use a wheel? Clutch? H shifter?
Try playing some racing sims like GTR, iracing or rfactor if your that into racing

Im a little split on the GTR series. GTR 1 definitely seemed the most realistic to me, and also the most difficult. GTR 2 seemed 'dumbed down' and yet ive heard it was 'more realistic'. Ive got the demo. Then theres GTR evolution which seems slightly easier than GTR 2. Again i have the demo.
I have GTR 1, and the demo for the other two, though im thinking of getting GTR evolution. Whats your take?
to bad alot of the island is poorly modeled. I lived on oahu for 4 years. Only downtown honolulu really is accurate in this game, and some areas on the far end of the island

I know it's seven months after you posted this, but in case you still don't know, TDU spans the ENTIRE island of oahu. Going over 100 mph, it takes around an hour to cover the island's entire circumference. Luckily, there's a gps you can use to jump to places if you get lazy.
The only thing really wrong with this game is the way the vehicles handle on hills or bumps. Can be really annoying because ure car or bike bounces around like mad. Also the controls are very touchy And its not completly compatible with the microsoft wheel because it only has one joystick.

It would be faster to produce some sort of program that would take the map data and auto-generate roads with random scenery that are accurate in regard to the actual roads, than to actually model all of that. Plus, it wouldn't be fun. If you have a race in California, and you're in Massachusetts, would you want to drive for dozens of hours? It's called boring :-)

I completely understand what you're saying. But still, you have to admit that you can't drift unless you're aware of how to do it. Turning with just your brakes and throttle isn't something that people just....learn....in an overpowered torque machine. It's something that is developed, as you said, over time. It doesn't matter the machine in which you do it, I learned how to do it in an underpowerd (severely) Toyota Sprinter Compact (AKA Sprinter Trueno)
Im told that government buildings and Major landmarks such as the statue you mentioned didnt make it into the game rendered, for copyright/legislation reasons.
its funny cuz our real city roads in hawaii are packed with cars that speeding is not an option. Cops are also everywhere. its fucked up that they couldnt even put REAL sites from Oahu. I cant find our largest mall, The statue of King Kam. And MY SCHOOL. My schools probably more popular than any school cuz we run the city. Woop woop. FHS baby.

Drifting is drving skill, a technique if you will. What you're talking about would be power sliding, which is just as fun, but a million times more dangerous. And vaporized......a bit of an understatement with a GTO......we're talking to the point that your RIMS are down to the rotors lol

Heck, take the chase through Atlanta in The Dukes of Hazzard for example, specifically, the part where the General Lee is being chased by a few cruisers around a roundabout; the cops are steering with the wheel, while the General steers with the throttle(ok, so it's actually Rhys Millen driving the general in that scene, but hopefully you get the point...)... ;P

I completely understand what you're saying. But still, you have to admit that you can't drift unless you're aware of how to do it. Turning with just your brakes and throttle isn't something that people just....learn....in an overpowered torque machine. It's something that is developed, as you said, over time. It doesn't matter the machine in which you do it, I learned how to do it in an underpowerd (severely) Toyota Sprinter Compact (AKA Sprinter Trueno)

Im told that government buildings and Major landmarks such as the statue you mentioned didnt make it into the game rendered, for copyright/legislation reasons.

its funny cuz our real city roads in hawaii are packed with cars that speeding is not an option. Cops are also everywhere. its fucked up that they couldnt even put REAL sites from Oahu. I cant find our largest mall, The statue of King Kam. And MY SCHOOL. My schools probably more popular than any school cuz we run the city. Woop woop. FHS baby.
