Maybe I (we all) have been getting it wrong. If you notice that the song refers to his woman that he is missing very much. "Ain't no sunshine when she's gone...Only darkness everyday ... Ain't no sunshine when SHE's gone {{ then continues on with references to his home symbolic to the deepest part of his being misses her}} when it says "This house just ain't no home anytime YOU are away. Now when he said Unique(faithful) can be lonely is because less a man would just cheat with the 2 girls.
