Between '80-'83 there were Guild guitar & bass ads with Allen, Gary, Barry & Leon and another ad with just Allen sporting a beard and yet another out-there, angular guitar. I'm sure these ads can be found somewhere on the internet.

if you LISTEN to Dale, she sounds alot like Janice Joplin.....I got the chance to actually SEE them in San Diego a long time ago.....and Dale blew us all away......she gave it her all.....just the way Ronnie would have wanted it.....she's a hell raiser just the same as Ronnie.....She's a great singer....married to a great guitar player.....mr &mrs gary rossington!

Hey Tony, My name is Ed. I play in a Skynyrd tribute band called Skynny Lynnyrd out of central Fl. You are on our friends list on myspace. I'm looking at this video, and I'm wondering where you got 3 of these pictures in particular. One is at 1:40,1:54 and at 2:18. These pics were taken at a place called "The Garden State Arts Center" in NJ by my sister. I have them in a photo album. I'm thinking that George Festo might be involved...do you know him? Yeah - Johnnie a little stiff sounding on most tunes - doesn't have that relaxed confidence feel like Ronnie - but who else could keep Skynyrd alive?

I know their are thousands of people that enjoy Johnnies Skynyrd but I never could get into it...I feel Skynyrd died when Ronnie died..RIP Ronnie VanZant.

According to the book "Remembering The Freebirds of Rock and Roll" Allen and Dale couldn't stand each other and Allen even refused to come back and do an encore with her at one gig.

It did effect Gary and Allen's friendship. That's why they had seperate bands from 1982 on - the Allen Collins band never seemed to get off the ground. Of course they made up after Allen's accident. Their friendship was pretty deep so it was restored but not ever the same.

I think the RCB didn't survive is because of Allen..he was always missing gigs because of drugs and booze. He turned into a mess after the death of his wife.

Note, my comment says "According to..." I'm quoting a book, not making a claim myself. I doubt Allen ever dated Dale as the first RCB concert tour in 1980 was interupted when Allen's wife died giving birth to their third child so he wasn't dating her at that time... at least not out in the open.

Frankly, I think it was a poor choice. I do not think anyone could fill RVZs shoes but at least they should have tried. Not only did they need a male vocalist but one with a style similar to Ronnie's.
