  • No need to apologize for the language. That was my exact reaction. Too bad other viewers have no sense of history or what it meant to us to lose this bridge.

  • Am I the only one who doesn't care that the woman is cussing but that the guy in the background is being snarky about the fact that she's really upset? It's HILARIOUS. "Ha ha. Sa-ad." "I don't care if you got it or not-" XD And in one of your other other videos you're discussing pig farming or something.

  • build a bridge and get over it get it?? na jk thats not funny at all

  • i blame viocom

  • I'm sorry,I just read about this on Weather.com and this is a shame...Just remember, hold your head up and remember there are alot of people who's memories will keep that beautiful covered bridge standing for a long time to come.

  • God may have destroyed this bridge in anger, and this bridge may have only been an object. But many people had memories from the bridge, and it was so beautiful as well.

  • that bridge stood there since 1870 and was their for 141 years. my father, grandfather, and great grandfather saw that bridge. a terrible loss, and people who dont understand this loss should hold back on comment....thank you.

  • This is so, so sad. Thank you for posting.

  • This seems a little silly to cry so much over. People died in the storms and shit...it's just a bridge. It can be rebuilt and memory can live on. Sucks when historical structures go...but be glad that there wasn't a loss of life...not sad about material structures that fell over.

  • That's so sad that this happened! And some people are so insensitive. How would you like it if let's say, a house you grew up in was washed away like this. And you shared the video, and we all posted to grow up and stop crying because its just a stupid house. You'd be mad.Its not about what it is, its about the fact that they lost something that housed their memories, their childhoods, their history.Stop being insensitive jerks.

  • "IM SAD" :12

  • sad nature is a powerful force that humbles us.

  • materialism... people becoming attached to objects, sorry it collapsed i wish it didnt, but in the end it was just a bunch of wood bound to go sometime, the memories you had there will live on, but really its just a bridge

  • @warlegacies, you don't owe no one an explanation

  • This is stuff phil likes???

  • NOW HOW WILL I CROSS THE BRIDGE TO GRANDMOTHERS HOUSE D:

  • This is a wake up call. Time to replace the old, ancient technology with a new, safe durable bridge made with modern materials. Think of your children and families safety.

  • god damn people have no respect these days... ive pretty much lost hope in finding decent people in this time

  • @Pavesimo One thing I apologize for is my choice of words to express my anger at the river taking our beloved bridge that I crossed, my parents crossed and my grandparents crossed for many decades. FYI, my mother was not pleased either. I honestly didn't think anyone but friends, family and neighbors would view this video and if i had had the time and electrical power to edit it as our power was flickering I would have but the video took a life of its own once posted. (power come back yesterday)

  • @Pavesimo No it's too bad you got to pop your cherry in Sunday school, and if you go confessing it would just make your priest's groundhog see it's shadow, because girls rather masturbate with a cheese grater than touch you.

  • @Pavesimo lol

  • @Pavesimo actually. this is one of the most appropriate uses of swearing there is. it is 'OK' to use terms like these when it's used to show loss or pain or anger. i'm not referring to this clip exclusively but it's better to let it all out using words than to take out anger with violence or to let depression fester. words were created for a reason and it is unfortunate when they are misused (or misspelled, it's 'disgusting' by the way) but they're also potent and beautiful when used properly

  • @Pavesimo Hey bro it's spelt "okay", okay? If you're going to be a douche then don't suck at it.

  • @Pavesimo lol u got owned u bitch

  • @Pavesimo It's really not that we find it okay. We just saw past the words and saw and felt her heart. I share her pain. I could identify with this sense of terrible loss. Sometimes, we just need to look past someone's faults to see them. This was at a split second of despair and shock!

  • @Pavesimo Get over it you pussy ass bitch ass dick nose fuckhead.

Oh shit. Did I swear too? Fuuuuck.

CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT CUNT. It's free speech get the fuck over it.

  • @Pavesimo I'm one of the cleanest tongued boys i know, and that's saying something because i'm in a home-schooled christian family, so yeah, not much swearing there.Anyway, when i first saw this video, and saw this amazing bridge which i loved so much, and had so many memories of mine in it,memories of meetings and adventures and watching my parents kiss every time they crossed it, well, i had the same swears on the tip of my tongue. Yes, this is not good language, but now really isn't the time.

  • @Pavesimo Welcome to the internet my friend

  • @Pavesimo Good use of the word disgusting. ITS DISGUSTING NOT DISCUSTING!

  • @Pavesimo you are talking about the english language and you can't even spell DISGUSTING

  • @Pavesimo lol whatever... your using english dumbass English is teh best thing evar since sliced bread FWUAK J00!!!

  • I am sorry for the loss. I am glad no one died when it fell. Pick out some of the boards, build another, remember it each time you cross the new one. God bless you, we need Him more than ever ...

  • Different things have different meaning for different people, and we all need to respect that. So maybe you wouldn't get upset over the bridge, but what's it to you that they are? Who are you to judge? I'm sure all of you assign meaning and value to something seemingly trivial and would be devastated if you lost it. There is no reason to belittle someone for being upset, especially on youtube, where there is absolutely no reason/gain/etc. for displaying such needless insensitivity.

  • @rwalk09

    Nicely put

  • oh my that is heart breaking, that beautiful bridge, alot of history gone. so sad

  • I'm wearing a black mourning badge in fond memory

  • Of course it's a pity that the old bridge had to go but the people crying in this video are eff'n hilarious. Good grief!

  • @mccombsjm +1

Add to comment.. Y'all, its a bridge. Just a bridge. Humans have made and destroyed more important things, including life... seriously.

  • @DateMike54 The "Y'all" says it all. There's nothing like a 140 year old covered bridge in the South. Burned by W.T. Sherman and friends. But for those people in Vermont, it is part of their life, part of their heritage, part of their culture. Their grandparents crossed it, they grew up with it. Consider if your church burned down, or your childhood home. That.s the kind of loss they feel with that bridge being washed away. Show a little respect.

  • @lophophore23 LOL. guess what they're doing. :gasp!: building a new one. Ya just cant fix stupid. What do people in history do when faced with disaster? cry? no. Be mature responsible people, its an inanimate object. It took a long time to make with hard work?awe.Sucks. ok, now be a big boy and make a better one, cause this ones gone.If my church burnt down, we'd get together as a fellowship and rebuild it,not weep over lumber and glass. Thou shall not covet graven images. Get over yourself.

  • @mccombsjm - What's not funny is how you would feel if your house burned down and people laughed at you crying. Or hasn't that crossed your mind?

  • @HighDesertNews As a recently disabled Soldier whose spent the last 10 years in a wartime Army, I've experienced turmoil, loss and grief on a scale most would have difficulty understanding. The fellow soldiers around me as we watched the bridge go down had the same reaction watching the video that they most likely would have had if they were there in person: "Damn, that sux!" To compare a landmark to a home is specious at best. Sorry if I offended you.

  • @mccombsjm Hit the send button before editing. "Whose" should be "who's". Sorry.

  • @mccombsjm Everyone's loss is unique to them, however it did seem a little calous when you said "the people crying in this video are eff'n hilarious. Good grief!" I could have taken you out of context and if I did I apologize. Thank you for your years of service and best wishes and best wishes to those who lost a treasured landmark as well. It does suck.

  • i am so sorry for you people lol

  • SO SAD TO WATCH!!! I love all historic buildings and structures especially old red barns and covered bridges. Even plantation homes, although the history of some were less than savory to say the least...

To see a piece of history washed away like that is disheartening. I hope that it's replacement will be another covered bridge.

  • Rebuild it.

  • @cdamauser1963 It's not that simple. It's the law in Vermont that we have to rebuild our bridges historically. We need to take apart the bridge that's still there, figure out what new parts it needs, and rebuild it with as many of the same parts as safely possible and in the same way it would've been built at the time it was built.

  • @andimabouttobreak Might want to revise that law. Unless you guys like the idea of swimming across.

  • I hope the videographer saved a tear or two for the people who died in the storm.

  • @roguetrader2000 1 person died in the storm.......

  • @KimonoMT Cause they should've put themselves in danger for a video...makes perfect sense. Use your brain, please.

  • @KimonoMT If you watch the clip 10 minutes before it collapsed you will see why we were so far back, the power pole across the river was leaning into the water and the bank eroding so fast we thought the pole may come down taking down the pole on our side of the river, so being close the bridge was not a safe place to be standing. I was not filming so Youtube viewers would get the best view but so that family and friends who grew up with that bridge who were not there could see what happened.

  • @warlegacies Maybe a good time to be in the car, not on foot!

  • @KimonoMT You < SHIT

  • That is unfortunate....

  • That bridge was a time capsule. When it was built, Ulysses S. Grant was President ! To look at that bridge was to look back in time and to see into history. The dweebs who are saying ( in effect) "What's the big deal, it's just a bridge" : (1) think the world began on the day they were born; (2) know more about Kim Kardashian than U.S. Grant; and (3) are utterly convinced that their own opinions matter and carry significant weight. Thank you, American education system.

  • So sad. I loved that bridge. We lost four! I can't believe we lost four!

  • That bridge was a death-trap anyway.

  • It's like the bridge was saying: "Goodbye" the last second before it disappeared.

  • i used to go over that bridge all the time going to Stellafane

  • Sorry to see it go. We have 2 covere bridges in the county i live in here in Ohio. Would hate to see either of them destroyed.

  • Don't feed the trolls!!

Yes, people make dumb statements. Yelling at them only gives them glee. Don't give them the satisfaction.

That said, as sad as it is to see it go, and as bleak as things appear, Vermont is a lot stronger than it may look. We'll rebuild, restore, and eventually move on. That's one of humans' redeeming qualities- The ability to adapt and to overcome. And that we shall! :)

  • at least no one was on the bridge when it fell. Sad maybe but jesus.

  • A great piece of history down the river--so sad.

  • @pjt1113: that's what happens when you put computers and android devices in the hands of the uneducated, bottom of the barrel type people who call themselves American yet ship all over their own land and people. Its absolutely pathetic and sad. And we wonder why half the world mock us. What stands out most is to outsiders is our weakest links, who also speak out the most because they have nothing better to do.

  • final destination..5...fox only

  • @williamraywalters: who the fuck are you to say they shouldn't be upset about something that may have meant something to them personally? People die everyday who are not close to us and eventhough sad, if they were not close to you its a little different. Maybe they crossed this bridge since childhood, maybe with a loved one no longer alive. Whatever reason, nobody needs to be told what they should or should not be sad about.

  • @xquisitaz I'm just saying, given the situation and how many people died as a result of the storm, they should keep a little perspective and be happy that their loved ones are alive and healthy.

  • Press 7 over and over. Someone should remix that. But seriously, there are more important things than a bridge to be sad about. There are families of 49 people who died as a result of this storm that would smack you in the fucking head for crying over a bridge.

  • Thumbs up if you saw this on Yahoo!

  • didn't they read the three little pigs in that town? you don't build a wooden bridge near the river people....geesh!

  • Sorry to hear it guys. Been to Vermont to ski Killington, though never got to see a covered bridge. New Orleans resident, so I know the pain you're going through.

  • 0:12 "awhuh sad!"

  • @PurpleSausage where are you from? the land of apathy? there are structures in this country, be them few and far between that have seen and experienced our true history... covered bridges being a prime example. it's a shame that one of the truly beautiful, peaceful and caring states in this apathetic country has been so defaced by both mother nature and fools as the likes of yourself. sorry to say, but willing to point out...

  • @midorisours awe sad...awe tears...awe...sniffle sniffle

  • @midorisours I'm glad someone actually understands the nature of the typical Vermonter. And the deep history of the state and the other states back east. I'm from VT and it's made me really sad to see the national attitude toward all of this. I'm so glad someone out there still has compassion for others :)

  • you guys are fucking pathetic you know that? how about we fucking wash your whole god damn time and youre whole fucking life away. inconsiderate assholes.

  • @smidaman3991 agreed

  • wah wah wah its a bridge. no lives lost, no loss of livelyhood, no big deal.

  • I' overwhelmed, devestated and incredibly SAD! ! ! !

  • the bridge here at the end of stony brook rd in northfield, vt is gone too:(

  • @keeper15km I am so sorry to hear that, i had not heard yet having just gotten my power back.

  • really now, its a bridge...from the 1870s, it had to come down eventually

  • So this is what people in Vermont are like.

  • Guys, they might have lived there their whole lives. That bridge could've meant something to them. They may have crossed it a lot as a kid, or something important in their life happened there. Show some respect?

  • @Nitonogol You're right, she did and 4 of her generations have crossed that bridge for decades. It's nice of you to be so understanding. This bridge will never be replaced. It holds fond memories for many over the years. The bridge become a bid part of all of us who live here, among other that used it.

  • That was one oooollldd bridge man!

  • Well that was quick and to the point.

  • Very sad, and so sorry for the loss.

  • @damified2u I'ts a bridge...

  • @Tempo2010 are you serious right now? if you lived here you know this isn't fake.

  • @Tempo2010 Really? Fake and gay...I guess you have a first hand knowledge of fake and gay since you are obviously both. Its is really pathetic to see how so many people make the rudest comments about how we as a country are so quick to go to the aid of other countries but turn around and slam the people of our own country because they have lost everything they had. Grow up. If you can't say anything worth saying, SHUT THE HELL UP. Heaven forbid something bad happen to you or your family...

  • @pensnot39 poop.

  • is that the bridge from beetlejuice?

  • Very sad that a piece of history such as that is now gone. It can be rebuilt, but it cannot be replaced. Status now changed from historic to history.

  • @CTFireCop That's true!

  • It is sad that this piece of VT history and heritage had to fall, hopefully we can get a replica build and memorialize this event for the future generations of Vermonters who will love their state like the current Vermonters do. Unfortunately this was not the only one of our great covered bridges that was lost, and hopefully we can get them all rebuilt.

  • why are they crying?

  • did someone get hurt?

  • Can't believe I almost got worked up over these lower than whale shit POS's. They must not have been lucky enough to grow up in a place that gives them a sense of self pride and a proud heritage. I feel extremely sorry for them.

  • good fucking fight

  • Wait, was she crying ?!

  • @Art1cM0k3yz Yes

  • It may be an old bridge with memories, but still... its a fucking bridge.

  • @joshray7 Amen, when you take in to context the far more serious toll that disators can (and this one did) have! I think the dude at the end with his "oho saaaad" pretty much sums it up haha.

  • @Poviddy Exactly, they could all be dead if things were worse.

  • Bartonsville Bridge: 1870-2011

    R.I.P

  • wtf is dis ,, ppl need to grow up

  • @STLFOOLISH you need to fucking growup, itsa video of a bridge falling down during hurricane irene, your so fucking stupid

  • @terryeddyterry "your so fucking stupid" Biggest contradiction ever.

  • @terryeddyterry YOUR spelling is "so fucking stupid" because YOU'RE so fucking stupid

  • @VelaToNorma7 why dont you shut the fuck up, you are te one that shortens four letter words, wtf is dis? its you being fucking stupid and not even sticking to the point of the conversation which is the BRIDGE! not a word the i spelled wrong, your a fucking jack ass

  • @terryeddyterry Someone needs anger management. Shut the fuck up. It's not my problem YOU'RE a fucking idiot that never passed simple grammar OR 1st Grade for that matter. Sorry your life sucks.

  • @VelaToNorma7 hello!!!! thats not the point, the point is that you posted a fucked up comment and i want to know why you posted it. btw, my life doesnt suck, my life is awesome! thanks for asking, now you can go fuck your self.

  • I hate girls who can't control their emotions, then they bitch at you and tell you that it's natural to cry. Well it's not natural to cry 24/7... jesus christ.

  • is it me or do they seem to have a really strong emotional connection to that bridge :s

  • WOODEN BRIDGE, ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE STREET.

  • To all the retards this is bridge that was very old and had a lot of memories to a lot of people and it's not like some tar and metal bridge that no one cares about but it's Vermont bridge in a family loved town so why don't you all get a soul or hate on something hate-worthy like yourselves

  • we will cross that bridge when we come to it... Oh wait it just got washed away LOL

  • OH NO A BRIDGE OH NO

  • stop chucking my wood.....

  • who freaking cares...its just a bridge, build another one

  • Wow...Guy's she was probably crying cause the bridge was a memory to her and she enjoyed having it there. So stfu plz :]

  • lolz crying over a bridge? pathetic.

  • is she crying? it's just a bridge! Now you can get a job rebuilding it instead of cam whoring.

  • @doomsday19821982 Covered bridges frequently get replaced with modern bridges of steel and concrete. Losing one nowadays, when more cost-effective alternatives exist, is often a loss of history and culture.

  • did that guy at 0:11 just say "haha sad" lol?

  • This video made me cry! haha

  • Apparently most people don't realize there's something called local pride, and the covered bridges of VT are a big part of that, plus they're a source of millions of tourist dollars in income. Structures weren't built in NE to sustain hurricanes, because they only strike every hundred years or so. It's the same as the Washington Monument getting damaged by the earthquake.

  • ESPN below me is a fucking asshole. get a life

  • Shinra Tensei!!!

  • A big huff, and a big puff, the wolf blew the house away!!!

  • @megasrd123 THAT"S A BRIDGE YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE! THERE'S NO AIR THERE ANYMORE SO HOW ARE PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO BREATHE OVER AT THAT SMALL AREA OVER THERE? MY CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN.

  • Made in China

  • Build a bridge and get OVER it
