If ever the refs miss the puck going into the net, you can always jump off the bench and start to celebrate. Carter knew it was in, so he celebrated, forcing the refs to whistle the play. Basically, Canada saved itself a gold medal by celebrating. Otherwise, refs would have missed it.

Yeah, sure the puck was probably in. However, you cannot tell by just looking at the pictures, just by judging from its movement and positioning. And it's against the rules to do that. You have to be 100% positive the whole puck is over the line. Besides, they made the desicion using imagery which was not allowed. If it took them 6 minutes to decide this, they were obv not 100% sure without doubts. Am swedish, by the way :)

Trust me when I say that it was a goal. Anytime Canada or the USA play anywhere in Europe, the officials do whatever they can to screw them. All that time the ref spent on the phone with whoever it was, believe me, they weren't trying to find a way to count the goal, but trying to find anything that could justify it being waved off. But in the end they had no choice but to count it because it obviously went. Look at the body language by the ref and the look on his face when he pointed goal.
