We don't vote on straight marriage. We shouldn't vote on gay marriage either. Everyone should be afforded the same rights. It shouldn't even be an issue.

Derricwv: It has already been voted on. It really amazes me that after 6000 years.. the gays have never been able to be married.. but all of a sudden.. we now should let them? If it has been right in the first place.. it would have been done already and not up for a vote. It is just the sick mind of man in these last days who would try to make it so.

We should not use our religious beliefs to take away rights or prevent rights from being ranted. You have every right to your personal religious belief, but our laws shouldn't be based on those. No one religion is superior to any other. This country is supposed to be a welcoming place to all people whether they are Christian, Muslim, Atheist, Pagan, White, Black, Gay, Straight etc.

Do you also know that perhaps a part of the reason "YES" (as you put it) is passing is because the proposition had misleading "facts" intended to scare the voter into marking "YES?" If you would like to know those "facts" that were aimed at ignorant people, I will gladly tell you. If the social conservatives weren't afraid of how the vote would really go, then they wouldn't have put out LIES to get people to vote the way they wanted.

Just because something that is sinful is legal, that doesn't mean you have to sin. You're still free to marry within the guidelines of the bible, but if other people have different beliefs you have no right to impose your will on them.

Elections in tribal regions of the middle east reaffirm traditional laws forcing all women to keep their bodies covered. If you lived there, would you be fine with them imposing their beliefs on you (or your wife, daughter, etc) just because they had a majority?

balderdash707: They have rules in this country too that force people to wear clothing. Can you.. in this free society, decide to remove your clothes and go shopping? This vote was about the definition of what "marriage" is. The 8 letter word. It has been defined as being between man and woman. Someone wanted to change that definition. So they wanted to force me to accept a new definition of the word. I say no.. the word is fine like it is. Make up a new word and use it.

How am I forcing them to accept my beliefs?  Mormons believed in Polygamy at one time and practiced it. The US Government told us we could believe anything we wanted.. we just could not practice what we believed. And here we are today.. 178 years later.. and still it is illegal to have more than one wife. If we all get to do what we believe.. then Muslims who believe anyone who is not Muslim.. should either convert.. or die.. there would be many more dead people.
