I just wanted to say thanks a lot to you for your outstanding videos... They are really useful, specially to those of us are reluctant to learn how to read bloody music sheets.
hi.....can I just say it simply.......you hear it right....you show how to do it well...and with Beatles.....it's the best learning book for anyone.....thankyou for taking the time to do these...let me just say.... I appreciate it.
Hi John, nice simple and very affective arrangement. Nice harmonic playing off the F and C chord change over the F bass. ( getting so much better all the time section) Nice for vocal harmony. I also like to play it just staying on the F chord and dancing to and fro the A and G notes.
@idolhands50 Yes, the way you do it works very well too. Having the G there with the F in the bass is the important part, which gives the chord its "flavor." Glad you liked this one, thanks.
you are probobly the best piano teacher on youtube! thanks for teaching me these songs! i dont know if you have it already but if not can you make a tutorial of sargent pepper?
Hey man thanks a LOT for your videos, id like to know which other easy song have a tutorial. i already did imagine and this one, tried i am the walrus but too hard xD. Thanks a lot rlly for ur time and u r great at this
Happy to do them for you. You can try either Hey Jude or Let It Be if you want some easier songs.. those don't have too many chords, and people seem to find them a little easier to manage.
Many Many Thanx good Job you do and very nice and inspiring. I am no piano player but Ill give it a try or transpose/ransfer it to violin or just as consciousness practice .. Thnax .. Ill show it to my beatles fans children .. (5 and 6 yeras old)
FAB!! I didn't play keyboard/piano until about a week ago, then I found these lessons! I know there are a lot of requests, but "Octopus's Garden", "You Like Me Too Much","Here,There, and Everywhere", and "Baby You're A Rich Man".
Yay! those are the two I've been scouring youtube for!! Also maybe Eight Days a week if thats possible?? I pretty much got the melody by ear but i dont know anything else...anyway those would be REALLY GREAT!!!! thanks bunches for posting these!! ;D
We love you John I have learned to play these songs and coupled with Dominic Pedler's Songwriting secrets of the Beatles, I have learned more theory and all the stuff people study for years, fast and easily. I just graduated to another level of musicianship. Thanx
You sir are an inspiration to me. I have never seen so many Beatles tutorials by on person! I would be grateful if you did all My Loving or Something. Thank you, and greetings from Missouri.
you get too many good comments, somebody should write something bad about you... sorry I just can't. I love your vids so much especially the Beatles-part. Thank you for the music. Greets from Hungary :)
I like all these Beatles Stuff and this seems easy I wish you can put up tutorials for Something,Revolution, and,All You Need Is Love if you know them that is....Thnx
Thanks, Davi! Actually I can't send these over any of my e-mail accounts because the file size is too big (about 30-40MB each). You can try a laptop, if that helps, and just bring it over near the piano. I know some people do it that way.
Quick question, at about 1:40 into the real song, paul goes into a free style "I used to be cruel to my woman" etc... what do you play during that free style? Or no Piano part?
Oh yes, I should have probably mentioned that part... Normally, I just alternate the chords as I did in the other verses, and change chords on the down beat. Still alternate, just change them a little more quickly. It's really more of a free-form, though, and sounds good either way.
Oh and one more thing i'm not experienced with chords so when you get into the B D G part and say how you alternate it confuses me as to what notes you play when you alternate
I think you're referring to the part in the verse? I just alternate between B-D-G, C-E-G, and A-C-G in the right hand. The left hand should stay the same.
I really want to learn The Beatles songs I just got to find the right easy piano book - youve totally inspired me, thanks - Im glad I subscribed now. Um is Here Comes The Sun - have you taught that yet? Id love to learn how to play it. *hugs* thanks for the videos.
Thanks, Jilly! I have not done Here Comes The Sun, but I may do that one. It's probably easier to play on guitar than the piano, but I'll add it to my request list.
This was a great song to learn about the beatles style, to learn a great tune that is within a lot of peoples reach technically, to see how cool the bass notes and rhythem chords divert, all in all a great selection. I thank you so much for this lesson.
Glad to do it. You can really hear Paul's influence on those bass lines when they mix with the chords. They had really evolved onto a higher plane at this point, I think.
Yes. I totally agree. I read that Paul completely re-recorded all the bass on SGT PEPPER after everything else was done. In fact, that is why there is so much LEAD type bass. I think this added to this higher plane your talking about. To me, Sgt Pepper is the best bass ever written in rock. It really made those songs.
Hey i love this song very much, but i was just wondering if you could play 'Lovely Rita' by the beatles,i love the piano solo, if you could do it for me that would be very much apprieated. :D Thanks!
Yes, great suggestion! I'd thought of that a while back but then forgot about it. If you don't see it here in a few weeks check back and remind me again to get that one up here.
hey john u are awesome thx u helped me so much . Btw, can u teach us how to play the intro to "Fools Overture" by supertramp, on the "even in the quietest moments " CD, thx !
I do love the Gerry Rafferty song but the nick is a reference to Sherlock Hilmes who would, at times, engage the help of the local street kids whom he called the Baker Street Irregulars
Yes, I remember reading those stories.. they were the "paid" informants.. I'm just wondering what it says about me that the name reminds me of the song instead of the original piece of great literature! Ha! My teachers I'm sure would be proud...

wow this videos are great!!!
I have 2 questions though
1.How many times do you play the A C F/G G part at the begining
2. I don't know if it would be worth it to play on the Piano but have you ever consider making a video for playing Captain Jack?
dharmaboy108 4 years ago
The A-C-F / G-G part is just played over two measures.. Mostly on the beat, although there are I think two spots where it adds an 8th note.
Captain Jack is on my request list, and I'll try to get that one done soon!
