  • I actually prefer the Genesis version over the SNES because it has more detailed graphics and faster gameplay, and it even plays alot more like Fatal Fury 2 instead.

If only the sprites were a little bigger, then the Genesis version would have been the better port.

  • Mash that DP!!!

  • Don't let that fat bastard win!!!

  • I think I'll get this over the snes version sence the genesis has better music and it's mac's bar not mac's cafe....I mean c'mon who fights in a cafe?!!

  • @EvanGameReviews The gameplay is generally better than SNES too.

  • i loved this game when it came out and still love it to this day...the people that say it sucks just don't know how to play it...

its very competitive and can be technical

  • You're welcome. I just like helping people that might be struggling with video games (You're pretty good at this game by the way). One good thing about the this version (Japanese version) is that you get infinite continues, but in the European and American versions you only get 3.

You can recharge your spirit guage by holding the punch or kick button.

  • Thanks a lot for these mate! I'll give them a try next time I play the game, thanks for the other codes also (I dont own a game genie but If I ever get one then I'll be sure to try them out). :-)

  • Nice graphics on this one matey.

I like the start of the game when the picture smashes too ha ha.. very dermatic! ;o)

  • Looks nice yeah, you mean "dramatic"? lol :-)

  • Even though its reduced, it almost seems more playable.. I would never be able to get throught those fights so easily normallyy..

Doing thr taunts lowers thier special move bar..

  • Cheers andy, I was wondering what the taunt featured did!

I gathered the AES version would be a lot harder than this! :-)

  • Great game Ian.. I love the Art of Fighting series and this port is very good for me! The only major missing element is the zooming graphics.. Great port for the MD!

  • Yeah I thought so also Phat, I'm looking forward to playing this with my brother!

I'd love to play the Neo Geo version sometime- in fact I'd love to own a Neo Geo.... one day maybe! :-)

  • I love how the people inside of the bar just chills out while the two of you duke it out! "Jumpkicks to the face, energyballs? Happens every tuesdat in here!"

The thing that stands out the most to me is the soundtrack. Sounds very different from what Im used to hear from the megadrive. Game overall looks excellent!

  • Lol very funny mate! Just a normal bar brawl- nothing out of the ordinary! lol.

The volume was quite loud on my TV for this one but I liked the music also. Cheers for the comment mate :-)

  • Sweet gameplay on this game looks really good.

  • Cheers mate! :-)

  • Classic game. I've played the Neo Geo original quite a lot but never the MD port so it's interesting to compare them. Looks like they made a fairly good job of porting it. Nice vid.

  • Thanks mate, I think its a decent conversion as well really. Would love to play the orignal sometime to compare though :-)

  • I recently got a hold of the SNK Arcade Classics for Wii and was presently surprised at how good Neo Geo games are (Especially after I sucked at KOF 94 before playing the collection, lol.). Metal Slug and Stock Troopers are awesome! =D

  • There's a few people mentioned that collection, I've played very few SNK games really. I would love to own a Neo Geo AES at some point- that would be the dream! :-)

  • The good thing about this conversion is it doesn't seem as insanely tough as the AES version - which can only be a good thing as it's tough to the point of frustration!! The Super Nes version is inferior, in fact most SNK games seem to covert to the Megadrive much better which is a bit unusual when you consider most other multiformat fighting games that were converted at the time seemed to be better on the SNES!!

  • Good point that mate, Samurai Spirits is another conversion from SNK that looks really good! Playing this game briefly here it almost seemed too easy, but maybe the later characters are much harder. :-)

  • @gmintyfresh I agree. Most professional reviewers say the SNES version was better but its obvious they are only saying that because of graphics and because SNES had the zoom feature. I think the Genesis version is a lot better even if it doesn't have the zoom feature, especially gameplay and sound.

  • Thanks for doing this gameplay Ian, looks nice graphically and that tv you got has some nice bass :) Looks like a decent little fighter though :)

  • It's a good little game mate. Yeah I love my Sony CRT- £10 on Ebay- what a find!! :-D

  • Thats a bargain :) I have to say after using my widescreen crt a lot in my gamesroom you really do notice how much better the picture quality is compared to an LCD :)

  • Yeah I was chuffed to bits Pete, always aware that it'll go at some point in the future though (years away I hope!) and its not like you can just pop into a shop and buy another! lol.

Retro consoles should only be played on a CRT in my opinion! :-)

  • Im beginning to agree with you the more i use mine, its wierd cause the games look fine on an lcd or plasma but they don't feel right, dunno if that makes any sense lol what are we gonna do in the future? i hope theres a shop like in back to the future 2 that stocks retro tech so we can fix our crts or buy a new one lol

  • That would be cool mate lol! I might buy another CRT to store in my loft as a replacement just in case! Ha. It's sad in the future they'll die out...

  • lol we could get the grays sports almanac :) yeah i think you have a good idea there, there so cheap now it makes sense to buy a spare for the future. best thing is that crt tvs last for years unlike the new lcds and plasmas.

  • Not a bad port of this game for the Mega Drive/Genesis i don't think and my understanding is its much better than the Super Famicom/SNES port.

    Love those bonus levels!

  • The bonus levels are a good laugh, though bit embarrassed about the girly laugh half way through lol!

  • Your excited like a school girl about your game buddy lol.

Am just ribbing you buddy but a great video as always.

  • Nota bad version. I just played this game on the Wii "SNK Arcade compilation" and you can notice the differences quite clearly. Notably the absence of "zoom effect" appearing in most NEO GEO fighting games. I've also heard that the gameplay differs as well!

Still, it is a worthy addition to the SEGA collection!

  • I think for the MD it's a decent version, maybe a bigger size cart could have gave it more features bit still quite good :-)

  • good version,in my opinion is better than sfc version but worse pc engine version

  • Didnt realise there was a PCE version, agree it looks better than the SFC one..

  • Doesn't look too bad tbh, graphics are still fairly detailed.

  • I agree- the graphics are quite nice and its a good little game overall.
