You know, When steve jobs died, everyone called him a genius. When jim henson died, no one called him a genius. who's really more a genius? someone who built a few computers or a guy who took a green coat, 2 ping pong balls, and gave it a voice that the world loved?
That darn Elmo is what destroyed this show!!!! Dangit! I'd LOVE to take that little red thing & stick him under a lawn mower!! It's because of him, Zoe, and that fairy thing...what's her name, but mainly that red thing that this show has lost all of it's meaning and enjoyment!! I'll turn it on every so often when I remember just to see if (HA!) anything is different. It's the same exact settings every day now: fairy school, the laundramat, elmos world and basically the same 4 or 5 characters!
@Cuteblondie1972 - there have been insinuations that Kermit, even on sesame street, does still know piggy personally. One sketch, he was talking to a farmyard pig and saying "you remind me of someone, I just can't figure out who". Also, it seems apparent that Kermit lives on sesame street, and simply catches the subway to the muppet theatre for the muppet show, that's what I think.
That's always what I figured, too. The Muppet Theater was somewhere downtown, and at the end of a long day he would drag himself home to Sesame Street.
It's an open question whether he STILL lives there, though.
@Marbles471 good question, I hear he has a place in Maine, was a joke on one muppet interview. We can be certain he doesnt live in Paris. I can imagine him being pissy when he gets home to SS after a long day, but then again, he got angry pretty openly on SS.
@needles1987 Possibly. However, I think "now" is more likely since Sesame Street is nowhere near as good as it was back in the 70's and 80's. All the children's channels are making shows with similar teaching styles so nothing is unique anymore. Back then, PBS was unique from Nick which was unique from Disney which was unique from PBS (the circle is complete). At least back in the day, the creators used their God-given imagination. Why don't they do that anymore? Okay, I'm off my soapbox.
same here this shit used to scare the fuck outta me,all i needed was smoke coke or weed but my parents were using it instead i guess thats why to this day they still laugh there ass off lookin at this!! LMAO!!
i had 'sesame street fever' on 8-track when i was little. kermit was in front doing the john travolta pose, and grover, ernie and bert were the bee gees.
EXCELLENT! My first a LP was from sesame street with GRover on the cover with the infamous john travolta white suit and saturday night fever pose! Ahhhhhh, it was great to be a child in the late 70's:)
When I was a kid, my cousin had a record, "Sesame Disco," which included this song & was the sequel to "Sesame Street Fever," of which I owned a copy. Too bad neither album has been reissued on CD, but they may yet be if there's enough demand for them.
I remember how freaked out I was when I first saw this. After the ghost frog dove through the bush at the end I thought he was coming to my house. And then...I got a knock on my door...AND IT WAS HIM! That was 25 years ago, and he's STILL here dancing the night away! Anyone want him?
OMG!! That used to scare me as a kid too. *Phew* I thought I was crazy. I love/miss Jim Henson. I wish I could get ALL of his shows, movies, and skits.
I watched that when I was young and it scared me. Until today, it does scared me because I do not want to remember the Kermit ghost because it will go into my head for the rest of my life.
I know, right? It was spooky, but you couldn't look away because, in some strange way, it looked cool at the same time! That & this song is still pretty groovy!
I'm with you. Elmo is over-abused. I don't hate him at all, because I know that all Muppets should be liked. I feel sorry for him, because lots of people hate him.
Yeah, I mean sure Sesame Street ain't what it used to be. But I find that because Jim Henson isn't there to steer it in the best direction, and the competition is REALLY a thorn in their side. It seems like their only way to counter that is to promote the popular-with-kids Elmo to the point that he's a pushed star, and that's why people don't like him!
I'm so with you, current-day Sesame has definitely proved to be more than just "The Elmo Show" like everyone else thinks it has become by pulling off those brilliant spoofs like they've done so many times before. This is why Sesame Street has been around for over 40 years, and may as well go for 40 more! Congrats Sesame Street, you're making me proud. ^_^
I remember seeing this as a kid in the early 80's. It haunted me as a child. The ghost frog hopping away worked itself into a couple of my recurring nightmares that stayed with me till my late teens. Seems silly now, being 30, but I still get chills looking at it.
I've been having this song go through my head for years. I always thought it was an alphabet song. I knew it was a good song and kermit was a lil eerie dancing away.
I love this song 100 stars This has been my favourite song sence I was a little girl and I still love it always do always will. And this song still makes me want to dance because it's a cool disco song. If I had my own disco I would have my living room dark disco lights and disco balls flashing slow and fast and lots of Sesame Street songs even disco frog full blast on my record player. I wish I could dance to this song all day and all night. Because it's a cool song. Love you Kermit your fab.
LOVE THIS SONG! This has always been my favorite Kermit song on Sesame Street. Thanks for putting this up SS. I love you show and can't get enough of it. Thanks again.
