Una de las mas hermosas voces en la opera mundial, te extraño Luciano, estas en mi corazon y estas con nosotros cada vez que te escucho, en cielo se regociga con tu dulce voz
I don't really like when they take the optional b (@3:30). Doesn't do a thing for the musicality of such a moving piece and is pretty much just an ego trip for the tenor. Pavarotti did it really well, though :)
i love it, and i do it myself. i think it compliments to the text...because the last phrase before that "lei sempre lei dinanzi a me (or parl'al cor) fatale vision, mi lascia! mi fai tanto male, ahime!" is like, a desperate cry of federico really wanting to leave behind the dilemma, rather, stop being haunted by the beautiful face of l'arlesiana and move on. "fatale vision, mi lascia!" leave me fatal vision...think the B accents it. but eh, difference of opinions :)
3:30 I thought he would jump out of the screen! Laser focus on those two notes, like an athlete jumping a hurdle, and then the look of success! What an amazing talent, a man in his fifties with a voice thirty years younger -- guess you have to be a tenor to understand how difficult this is to do, and how easy he makes it look!
A bit too fast for my taste, and the final B at 3:29 was very subdued (which he atoned for with a vehement theatrical gesture). But he's got all wonderful besides... and at 60.
He was born in 1935, therefore to be exact, he was 56 in this clip and still singing magnificently. It's one year after the original 3 tenors concert which began my love of Opera. Bravo Maestro!
Pava is my fav tenor. But Gedda should receive TONS of credit. He was a fantastic tenor who was very underrated. Gedda was the best tenor of the french and german operas. Carreras, on the other hand, and although good, was never excellent and highly overrated.
I listen to Carreras and i think , he is the best in this aria. I listen to Geda and I am like, no no geda is better and I listen to smbd else and i change my opinon and then I came to Pavarotti and I get the biggest smile in my face. How beautiful and unique is his voice. Cant be compared. Grande Luciano
LOL -5 for saying he wanted to listen to a dramatic tenor sing a lament...you freakin baffoons. pavarotti sings it well, but seriously go listen to a dramatic tenor cry this lament....it tore my heart apart.
I thank you again Luciano Pavarotti, I am grateful that recordings were invented as nonw of us could ever know the MAGIC of your splendid voice. I pray your wife and daughters are coping with the loss of someone as macnificant as you. God Be with You and Yours.
el cantante con mas carisma, con mas pasion con mas ardor y con una voz que arrulla a los dioses...descansa en paz, hasta que nos veamos en el paraiso.
I remember hearing this aria as a child, my father played the famous 3 tenor album with zubin mehta conducting and I think it was carreras who sang it there but I think this is my new favorite enterpretation. i mean holy shit!
Im never a opera fanatic..nor acquainted with names of those arias..but listening to the music of this man is so enchanting..his golden voice..the manner he delivers those notes oh my God..it chills down to my spine..it will have a hard long time filling the void this man had left..Gracias senor Pavarotti..sing now with the angels with your beautiful music...Hope to see you there..
As yes the 30 year anniversary gala… how wonderful. I have been watching clips of this for years now. Tata…

I do not like Pavarotti, but I came here after listening to Kaufmann in the same piece... compared to Kaufmann, Pavarotti sounds like GOD.
