I was 17 or 18, so I remember all of these songs! Some I listened to when I was going through a break-up and it sure did help! I love it when you are listening to a song and it turns out that the song reminds you of some memories! I just love music!!!!! And not the stuff in 2012, that they say is music, because you can't even understand what the song is saying and what it is about!
@lc2rea I was born in 1965...but all of my brothers and my sister listened to music from the 50's and 60's..so I know the words to every song. I love listening to them.
@SuperGreenbone WHY does everyone say that?? i was born in 1990 and i know everything from the 70's and up even some older stuff from my grandparents. just because alot of kids are caught up in the scene dosent mean that most of them out there dont get some kind of influence from parents/grandparents. i know a shitload of people my age that'd rather listen to classic rock or oldies
Dolly wrote this song to Porter Wagoner when she was breaking up with him and leaving his show. She said she could not face him to say goodbye so she wrote this song to let him know she was leaving him and the show. She said it hurt her to bad to face him. she loved him so much... I guess many of artist put it down in a song and that is why we have so many great songs many of us can relate to...
Thanks for posting. I remember each and every one of these songs and artits.

@willprich You're right, I thought you just thought The Stones wouldn't sing a slow love song-This 'Angie' sounds like a foreign band doing a stones cover ( sounds like a german band).
As if I was 22 years old remembering almost every one of these lovely songs on the top ten charts.........Thank you very much for this........Dr. Muyassar Al-Nooh from Baghdad Iraq
This song is not about heroin use. Get your facts straight before running off at the mouth. Better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
"The line "Sail on, silver girl" is often reputed to refer to a needle (meaning the song is about heroin) but it actually refers to Simon's girlfriend (and later wife) Peggy Harper who found a few gray hairs and was upset. The lyric was meant as a joke - Simon calling her "Silver Girl" because of her hair
@EricDavidFloyd Youtube won't allow me to post the link I used to support my statement, but if you go to songfacts and look up this song you'll see what I saw.
@EricDavidFloyd Not sure where you got your facts from, if in fact you did some research but this is what I found while satisfying my curiosity about your statement.I found your statement to be completely wrong.
Paul Simon wrote this about providing comfort to a person in need. It started as a modest Gospel hymn but became more dramatic as he put it together.
Art Garfunkel sang this alone, although he thought Simon should have sung it. Says Simon, "Many times I'm sorry I didn't do it."
@EricDavidFloyd Why do you have to cheapen and associate the most beautiful song ever with something so nasty and insidious as H. Thank you, King689 for giving us some wonderful songs and memories
@kristennikco . Men are afraid to have feelings. I crying right now. Not really. But not ashamed of any song that is great no matter how sappy. I don't care what people think about my music. Turn it up and be proud and enjoy the music

I think every single person who watches this video shares my opinion. Todays music is just not sensitive and heartless. I mean rap, dance, hardstyle? That is no music it's sound...

is a song written by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton in 1973, who first released the song as a single in 1974.
In 1992, singer Whitney Houston recorded the song for the soundtrack to The Bodyguard, her film debut.
