use a fixed gear. it's way faster, and i don't know how it's dangerous if you are going faster than traffic..... it's just like riding a motorcycle in traffic... that's what it seems like to me.

That's how it's dangerous.
However, I've been riding a long time, and the day I stopped driving was one of the best days of my life. Even if gas prices dropped back down to a dollar, I don't think I'd ever go back!
Yea but how do you bike everywhere? even if you work 15 miles away, thats a 30 mile bike ride. i can ride my bike a good 20 or so. but man that really wears me down. the food it would take to eat more would equate about the same for gas! unless one was to loose weight, but that's not my case.
Key is to get a better bike. Riding a sweet road bike 30 miles takes no more effort than riding a heavy clunker 5. Its a great excuse to upgrade your bike bro! Folks knock out 200 miles a day on road bikes, my buddy does a 34 mile round trip commute from Redlands to UCR. Fact is putting your money into organic vegetarian food rather than foreign oil rocks!

It is illegal because you must maintain a Minimum of 40 mph. ROFL. Does it look like those cars are going faster than 40? ROFL This is sooo dangerous and illegal, but funny because I can certainly see where they are coming from.
I have an idea, why not have the speed limit on the freeways in LA during rush hours be lowered to maximum speed of 40 miles per hour. Then people on bicycle and other lower speed vehicls, like full 100% electric NEVs (neighborhood Electric vehicles), low speed/power scooters, mopeds, segways can all share the freeway.
I can't wait till gas hits like 8 bucks a gallon and everyone is riding vespas and scooters along with good ole bicycles
