@Crackerton0006 I am sorry if I added to your being scared in any way...but Glad you know what to expect...Don't be scared. Really. Try and relax about it. It's not that bad...and it's saving your life... worry is if you know you have a problem and don't do anything about it...good that they found your problem and can fix it. I know it's hard not to be scared. I was too...But you are going to do fine. Take Care God Bless...and take a deep breath and try to relax.

Thank you so much for this posting. My mom will undergo heart valve replacement surgery (2 valves) tomorrow and I feel a little bit better just having watched this.

Thank you for posting this video, it helps me feel better knowing that Im most likely over thinking all my fear and recovery. Im a week away from valve replacement and its worried me so much that I need meds to sleep.

@cbrmike67 Thank you...I am happy that I could help you relax a little about your surgery...Trying to stay calm the week before might be the hardest part! Open heart surgery is serious business so over thinking it makes you pretty normal. Know it's a blessing they found your problem and now they are going to fix it. Thanks for the video. My father is going to have this done and I am very nervous about it all. But the chances of him surviving without it is 0% and that is just not a choice. Goodluck and I hope you feel better soon....

If you weren't all nervous there would be something wrong. Heart surgery is serious stuff... but tell him from a guy who did it a couple of times in a few months...don't worry too much...it's surprisingly not that bad... I had heart surgery last year and I remember the breathing tube. EWW! It gagged me.

You're right ..that wasn't the best moment for me either...but all in all... a second or two of gagging and you are alive to tell about it... pretty good trade-off if you ask me! Good lick and God Bless.

thanks, your video was "real" i go to the Cardiologist wednesday. my first visit since starting chest pressure a month ago. procrastinating as others may do, finding excuses like i picked up a box the wrong way i slept wrong. thanks for the input on your experince. i hope i do NOT make my own video but if i do i'm sure i too will say "I'm happy to be here!"

Thanks for your note... Good for you that you got an appointment. Best to get an appointment and find out for sure... It's scary not to do anything. You may find out they can help you with medicine or a simple procedure...but even if you have to have open heart surgery... it's not that bad. Good luck and God bless.

Thanks so much for posting this video. I'm glad to see you have recovered from the surgery so well. My mother is 84 and she is soon to have her mitral valve replaced. She just had a TIA (mini stroke), I think, in part due to her anxiety about the operation. We're all very concerned.
