Joan Ferguson actually looked quite smart. Her initial storylines were good but became too predictable and campy. She should have been allowed to reach her full potential and remain a serious character.
Episode 287. Joan Ferguson was not the best character in Prisoner. Not one person makes a show and Prisoner had plenty of brilliant storylines for over three and a half years before that Pantomime dame arrived. Now Bea Smith was brilliant. Lizzie was No. 2. Vera was three-dimensional and you loathed her, but sometimes pitied her. Ferguson was a sociopath who did not deserve any empathy.
@qwertyrobmaiden This is about personal preference, hence why I post my own personal choice and do not click on to other people's names telling them who the best character is..My personal choice was Bea, then Lizzie as my faves, and I liked Roslyn Coulson...Vera was twisted at times and I could not stand the way she taunted Bea about not letting her go to her own daughters funeral, but between Vera and Ferguson I would pick Vera everytime in the sense that you could empathise with her.
@qwertyrobmaiden Joan I hated!..She was evil and cruel, a true sociopath..But Maggie Kirkpatrick is great and I have met her many times, as well as Val Lehman..Joan was not the best Prisoner character for me and she became predictable and a bit of a campy pantomime villain, and her nastiness boring later on.
