  • Geesh chad this is A old video lol.. Love your shop, you taking new customers, I have a few power Amos from a RCA I'd like done

  • Awesome!

  • I wonder are you using the remakes of the 2A3 since original NOS is ridiculously expensive, and did this amp originally have oil filled capacitors, as I see those in amplifier from this vintage, some of which contained PCBs.

  • @Xerox6085I Only Chad could answer for sure but he may be using good testing used tubes. I don't think that they used oil filled condensers so much in the 1930s that was more of a post war thing. In truth there isn't any advantage in using oil filled condensers anyhow, the only difference between the oil filled and the regular paper kind is that the paper used for a dielectric was impregnated with oil instead of wax or tar. In either case polyester film is a better substitute.

  • O hellyeah, that will impress the ladyes :> :))

  • ah shucks Ernie

  • PHENOMENAL! Thanks for posting!

And I thought my old FISHER 500C stereo receiver, with the original TELEFUNKEN tubes was old!

  • This guy looks really uncomfortable lol.

    Good video all the same....

  • ya thinking thae same thing

  • i ona plug my guitar in a amp like that once! i think it will sound very warm and clean

  • THis is wonderful. My passion for tube technology can't be put into words. Keep it up, you are performing a valuable service.

  • this proves that the most reliable amplifier type is the tube amplifier (since the 1930's WOW)

  • superb magnifique etc...i dream to find the same shop near where i live int he region of nancy east of france to restore my olds radio reel to reel amplifiers thank s a lot and make a lot of videos of old tube amplifiers cheers

  • That is a nice shop, I had to downsize and get rid of alot of stuff in my attic shop.

I love the hobby, keep them tubes glowing.

    Bill

  • great, keep the old tubes going.

  • Nice setup!

I'll bet it looks great at night with all those tubes glowing up front, And it probably heats up the shop too! I'be always thought about adapting an old Jukebox tube amp to my RCA 45-J-2 record player. Great videos, Thanks.

  • Thanks for the good words! This amp had a lot of electrolytic capacitors to replace! We also had to retrofit it for stand-alone use. We bypassed the volume expansion circuit and used the control position where it was for an input gain control.

  • Wonder amplifier, and a fantastic restoration!
