great vide! helped me make my animated intro. However, I jusxt can't seem to make it long enough, its only like 3secs long, the design came out perfect but how do I make it longer?! Pease help, it may seem like a simple/stupid problem but I can't seem to be able to fix it!
@BrownNinjaHero38 On the bottom of C4D, there is a timeline. The standard number of frames is 90 (which corresponds to 3 seconds), just change the number from 90 to how many you want. Keep in mind that 1 sec = 30 frames, so if you want a 10 sec animation, you will need 300 frames (30 x 100).

@colisipwertas To render into an avi or movie file you have to RENDER the video (there are many tuts around here on how to do it step by step, i believe I might even have one). Once you render a movie format, you can upload wherever you want, or you can import it to a video editing program that you may have such as movie maker or iTunes and add audio in there.
This was helpful up to the point when you put the explode effect in. you told Justus that it was because it allready exploded, no. Once i mixed the effect in, the text doesnt dissipate, it just went back to an outline before i extrude the text (Give 3d form)
@AroreForLife Sorry, its very hard to understand some of the problems you guys post, I try my best. Obviously, if the text isn't extruded, there is no "mass" to be destroyed, but it is very common though to apply the explosion and by default setting the explosion just already throw the text everywhere, therefore making it not visible in the screen
@Rafidaq2 Lol, well i thank you for the help at any rate. I figured out what i was doing wrong. I put the wrong explosion effect and i didnt set it to make Editable first. so i was doing 2 things wrong, but it was fixed and works great. Thanks a lot.
Im trying to use the explosion FX to explode my text. i got the annimation down but when i put the FX on and when i click play my text disapears why does this happen???? please help!!!!!!!!!!
@JustusChrist Maybe its because when you apply the shatter, it is already shattering so the particles are like everywhere, just make sure you pan around the screen and see if you can find them. or set the values for the strength to some lower value.
@ClassicalModern Autokey automatically makes keyframes, so all you have to do is to go to frame zero, make sure nothing is moving, then go to the last frame and animate everything to completion, and autokeying will automatically register all he settings changed.
i do exactly what u do but when i play my animation my camera moves and does what i told it to do, but the explosion just sits in one spot and dousnt even move.
@LrXBLACKJACK Make sure you have KEYFRAMES for both camera animation and the explosion FX animation. If you click on Autokeying before animating, everything should be good as all keyframes will be automatically recorded. The other way is to just manually set keyframe in whatever points you want.
@MrToGood100 If you are creating an animation that starts on 0 and ends at 90, that means that at frame 0, there will be no explosion whereas in frame 90 you will have the full potential explosion taking place. However, if what you are saying is that when you put to zero and then go anywhere else, it stops working, that means you didn't make a keyframe in the end (pretty much you didn't record the animation)
yeah i just did that and it worked, but how can i make it so it explodes later on in the video instead of right when the video starts? and how can i render the full thing into a video file?
@LH937 In the texture settings, there are many ways that the image can be "mapped". Some of the ways are UWV mapping, flat, linear, cubic etc. Try playing around with those settings to see if one of them fix the problem. If it doesn´t, take a printscreen and send it over.
its probably because the radius of the "Explosion FX" is not big enough, just increase it and it should be fine. That´s something i didn´t consider when i made the tutorial, i didn´t make it on purpose.
i got a problem when doing this. i take my object make a keyframe at the point it shouldnt explode and then i make another keyframe to the place it shall explode but the to keyframes follows eachother etc gets the same settings and i have only marked one?
If you enable the AUTOKEYING function, you won´t need to set keyframes because it records motion automatically. But another way is to disable autokeying and manually create the keyframes. You select the first point, set it to the values you want and then click on the KEY icon to record the changes you performed. Sorry if its confusing, as you can see, its not an easy area, i have many other Cinema 4D tutorials involving complex animations, try watching those tuts too.
Oh, ok. I just thought it might be a 2500 x 1600 screen, because of the relatively small, but long dock. But then I barely ever use Mac's, so they might always be like that.
More like because when using windows, the higher the resolution, the smaller (relatively) the taskbar becomes.
Hum...I dunno, when recording with the screen capture, I recorded full screen which was 1679x1049. I dunno the exact measurements of my screen, its a medium sized iMac, there is a smaller one and there is also the BIG one, mine is not the BIG one.
Subbed, your vids are epic!!

@izEGfx I have a tutorial that explains that. But here it goes in a simple way:
01. Go To Render - Render Settings
02. In Render Settings, chose the video format, size and destination folder
03. Now exit Render Settings and go To "Render To Picture Viewer"

How do you render the final product to a video file?
nikeyboii45 1 year ago
What if you want to change the text After you made it and editable object
XxDigitalxSniperxX 1 year ago
you dont have to drag the first framt to negative 5, just change the keyframe interpolation from bezier to linear.
JmChadillonProduct 1 year ago
Good catch. Changing to linear also solves a lot of frequent problems people have where their animations have to "pull back" before going foreward.

Oh, I'm not a fan of the dock concept. Maybe cause I'm just too used to the good ol' taskbar of MS.
Windows 7 sort of copied Apple's Dock concept, but I just can't get used to it (had it running, didn't like it).
Thanks for the tip though, anyway (:
Tried it on my dad's computer and he sort of likes it.

Just a little question, what's the resolution of your screen?

i work on a mac 1679 x 1049 pixels screen
however because of file lenght i compress the video into a 1080 x 720
