I fish out of falmouth harbor. Any tips on good spots for catching the bait fish. I have a cast net, and haven't seen a school since I bought it. I'd see the birds diving for them before but I haven't seen much of that lately.
Eventually I'll see the birds out there and follow them but if you know of any locations in that area I should cruise around that are safe for the boat I'd appreciate the tip.
Great video, I watch this thing every once and a while.
great vid... but i have a question for you, How did you fish the live bunker? Did you use a 3 way swivel and attach a long leader one way and a sinker on the last swivel. Or did you just cast the bunker out with no sinker?
I use a 9 / 0 bronze circle hook up through the chin of the POGY and out through his nose. I cast them up into the rocks and hand on tight. Good Luck Spring is just around the corner
thanks - the best part of the vid for me was when you see the pogy getting slapped around by the striper. Other than boating the fish that is my favorite part of fishing. There is nothing like watching the pogy make those frantic circles and then SLAP!
Good Question! You know as well as I do, that if there are bluefish present they will eat the bunker faster than the stripers. But I will tell you this from experiance. Let the bunker go deeper than normal and almost always the Stripers will be under the blues. Good luck and the best is yet to come this season.
and whats the best way to do that? should i just put it on a three way swivel with a thirty inch lead and a sinker? also how do you rig the bunker? do you use octopus hooks threw the lips?
After catching the Bunker I take them to an area that I know will produce Bass ( Marthas Vineyard & the Elizebeth Islands ) I ALWAYS hook them up through the bottom lip and out through a nostril hole. I use # 9.0 Bronze Mustad Hooks.
Great video and nice stripers! forget all these people who post because they are jealous about your stripers and all they can complain about is how you throw your net. I fish for stripers in the LI sound but always catch bluefish, are there any ways to rig the bunker that would catch stripers better than bluefish?
dude that was the best fu*king 7 mins of my whole internet life i am a striper freak and i have never even that size one after another and another and another but i also freshwater fish.
Nice fish, try em with a lighter outfit, alot more fun. I landed a 39 lb 49 inch line sider in the hudson this year on 10 lb test and a medium action rod, more fun than i could ever handle! Either way, awesome video!
But I was wandering about how you track live bait. I always see small schoolies and cast net them but they are way to small. Is there any place near me to find or catch live bait? Or how do I track live bait. If you have an answer can you email me. My email is on you homw web site

Yeah, good thing he doesn't know how to throw a cast net or it would have been too full to lift out of the water.
