Some of you are just pathetic lowlifes. These dogs are loved and cared for. They have there own sitting room and sofas. So leace your shitty comments somewhere else.
Right people before u leave silly comments about walking, despising, coping with, any type of shock collars, wot to feed or anything else, please note Dolly is now 5 years old very healthy and very well behaved same as my other Newfie Digby, They both get the best care possible and r very good dogs, They go for walks, they both swim, have there own sofas in there own room a large garden to play in and a loving family that adore them both,
@larlaruk Both very nice dogs, however I do have a question for you, why shave down your older newf? The hair that newfies have protect them from the cold and heat!! Unless this is a cleanliness issue with the house then I would just plain question why you have a newf at all lol...Love for newfies > house cleanliness lol
@TheSavageB My older boy Digby is clipped up as he has had skin probs since a puppy, I find it much easier to spot with his fur short and so can start treatment on him before the hot spots become to big, As for the house, we still get slobber up the walls, hairs in my dinner, and big lumps that love to lay right in front of the cooker while I am trying to cook, But thanks for asking. x
@larlaruk who , in their right mind, could resist a "newfie"?? Our guy is a lab/retreiver, newfie mix, and the smartest fellow ever! As I'm sure you thnk of yours!! eh?
I have a newfoundland she's a year old. She does get into things but we got her a training collar that beeps instead of shocking her. it really helped but you have to remember how big they get and how much space they will need. although they r big they can be lazy and some don't like walking at all. you should have her walk somewhat but not a long time. if she's "wrecking" your house now i'd get the collar.
@GhostFramez and u r very pathetic too, why waste your time writing that, Get some Fucking manners..(we can all swear, its not big and its not clever)
@larlaruk Who would have thought you posting a video if your newfie playing would cause all this drama. These people need to get another job or go help out at the local animal shelter they have to much time on there hands to be on youtube all day starting problems.
@famousxo69 Too many children on here and adults with sad lives wanting some attention, But most r good comments, could delete the stupid ones but not gonna, just let others see how silly they make themselves look..
ah! these dogs are so awesome! the biggest one i've been able to lift off the ground was 115 pounds, he was rather suprised.. :P though.. are they always on the move? or do they have the days where they'd rather be a couch potato?
My boyfriend has a Newfoundland dog, and hes so so sweet! I love him to bits! Hes such a big bear! and even though he was the runt of his pack, he knocks me over every time I see him. They're great dogs
seriously why get another newfoundland if you hate this one, by your attitude it sure seems like you dispise this dog. maybe your dog wouldn't be so destructive if you took them for a walk for AT LEAST 45 MINUTES!!
@cuddythecow you cannot walk a newfoundland 45 mins a day i have two and id b lucky if they run outside my backyard for 15 mins apparently you dont own a newfie or no anything about them. I dont see anywhere in this video that says she or he despise there dog if anything i see a crap load of toys plenty of room to run in the house and water in the bowls what more could a newfie want??? i think your dogs your beautiful and your a loving newfie owner just like me
oh my god, this reminds me so much of my dog when he was a puppy .. so clumsy & he use to do the exact same thing in his water bowl .. he use to ruin our house big time lol
we have just got another newfoundland puppy she is 8 weeks old and bitting everything around her, we have also had two in the past but unfortunatlly we lost one two years ago she loads of weight and when the vet did a laparotomy we discover she was riddled with cancer and didn't have long to live so insteed of letting her suffer in pain we ask the vet to put her down so now we have marlee and meko our two wonderfull bears
@skyla1459 the biting of a puppy of this age is normal, you can teach them not to bite,we have a newfoundland/bernese mountain dog mix, he use to bite everything at 8 weeks old,but i taught him not to do that. He is now almost 6 years old now,and the sweetest dog you can imagine.Since he was a puppy,he never bite no more.
were getting a puppy new foundland in september when theyre newlly born because are one died of a heart problem about 2 years ago and so excited great fun but expensive to buy and keep
Trust me, it's not just Newfies. ANY puppy will wreck your home. Newfies are big, but even a little puppy will do it's best to cause havoc; they don't know any better until you teach them. :P
i want a newf dog when i grow up they seem really nice plus they save people i still remember the teacher reading us a book about one that was living on the street and ended up saving a boys life and getting a home but anyways you know whats weird i live in newfoundland and i have never seen one befor .but still i know they take alot of responsiblity and need attention thats why i want one
I love newfies. We have had two and are now on our third. Their antics are amazing and they turn into total egotists. To this day, at 9:30, our landseer newf Meggie barks and demands three cookies and a four spoonfulls of canned food.
I can't wait, I'm getting a Newfie at the end of the year. Def getting pet insurance, my mums a dog groomer (thank goodness) and it will have an acre to play on :) Waited 3 years.
@whattheflunk Your not getting a newfie your getting a newfoundland dog, which is named after Newfoundland which is where I live.A "Newfie" is a person like me who lives in Newfoundland.
i got a newfie... 2 months old now... always wrecks everything and always bites... they are really little rascals! always wants something to do, and always wants someone to be with him... hes really a handful and gets on my nerves because I have the feeling he knows exactly what he is doing but wont stop it hahahah... but i love him... you cant stay mad at him for a long time! adorable but frisky little creatures arent they? hehe :)
The AKC and many Dog clubs recognize newfoundlands to actually be very good apartment dogs...labs are a good example of a not city dog...newfoundlands make great cities dogs, when you take the time they need everyday, walks, training etc....I have a newfoundland in the inner city of madison and i have never had a problem
Because of their temperament Newfs are considered good apartment dogs. Our 5 month old Newf hates when we take him to the farm for the day he would rather be inside with us
my mothers newfie has just died at the age of 12, her name was eira (welsh for snow). watching this reminds me of when she was a pup. to me there is no dog like a newfie, but i suppose every dog owner thinks the same of their breed.
Our newfie is 5 years old, 120 lbs and full of love... but, she also shakes drool and food all over the walls and ceiling, and leaves fur tumbleweeds floating around on a daily basis. People need to know that as cute and cuddly as they are, they cost more to maintain because of their weight and size (medicines, grooming, etc.). We love our baby, but I would hate to see someone get one because they are cute puppies and then can't handle them as they get older.
wot u say is very true, we have 2 both r insured which cost around £100 a month plus grooming is about 100 every 2 months, e have been lucky with dolly she has never had many medical probs but our other digby has cost us around £27,000 in vet bill, even though he is insured we still have to pay the money out first, we also lost our 1st newfi to cancer which also cost £1,000's,
Please think carefully before you bye one of these dogs
The Purdue Bloat Study came out very strongly against using raised bowls, because they discovered it actually INCREASES the risk of bloat. (My dog was recruited for the study, w/ others at the 1996 NCA nationals) Please check it out-- raising the bowls significantly increased the risk of bloat. Sweet puppy! I miss my Newfy!
your puppy is so cute...I'd like to get one, but I want to wait till I'm done with college and out of any apartments/dorms that I'm sure wouldn't let me keep a "bear" in my room, hahaha. they look like such awesome dogs...
Shes so cute! I've grown up with two newfies but cant remember them as puppies. My parents have had two before that aswell so i guess they've had a lot of experience with newfie pups! This has to be the cutest video of a newf that i've seen though!
I dont believ Dolly is only 12 wks old! Shes huge. My shih tzu Poppy is fully grown and still isnt half the size of Dolly! I felt so sorry 4 her in the catflap lol!
she was between 12 and 14 weeks, she is now nearly 2 and bigger than my male one digby, still puts her nose out the cat flap and still a REAL big puppy, bit of a naughty girl at times but we love her
yeah we got two newfs and they are still puppies but they are huge too! they like to get on the counters though they sleep on the air vent.......oh does your dog happen to DROOL alot well ours do...icky!!
ok so i will wrap her in cotton wool tie her down and let her do nothing.. do u have newfies, how many ect ect. she is now 20 months old been to vets once and doing very well still RUNNING and SLIDING on wood floors, concrete and now up and down stairs,
I'm sorry ,I wasn't trying to be rude . Yes ,I have newfies , 4 right now plus 9 puppies . Every contract I've ever signed for a newfie states no stairs or slick floors . We have hardwood floors but have put area rugs all over the place . It CAN be really bad for their hips .I'm glad your girl hasn't had any problems .Of course she's not old enough to OFA her hips to find out .
wow, lmao, this brings back memories!! My Tillie was just like that when she was that age!! Now she is 2 years and 130lbs and calmed down a bit but she still has her moments!!
Dolly looks like a hoot! lol I'm breed hunting... Trying to find the perfect dog for me, so far I've researched, Pit Bulls, Staffordshire Terriors, Bull Dogs, Great Dane, Douge de Bordeaux's, Greyhounds and Beagles... How do Newfoundlands do areound kids? Are they high energy, would one do okay in an apartment with 2-4 walks aday in Michigan climate?
most Newfies r great with kids, but as with any dog it depends on how u bring them up. i do not think a newfie would suite an apartment because of any stairs u might have, we do not let our newfs climb any stairs untill they r at lest 6 months old as can damage there joints. they also slobber ALOT, floor celing you and kids could get covered, blow there coats twice a year, so hair and slober, nice mix!!
Vet bills very high, our male digby has cost us well over $10,000 in 4 years, (must get insureance) so all in all a very hige maintaince dog, Food, vets, coat care ect = one very expence dog. also very hard to find a good breeder, Heart, hip score ect r way up there on the list of things to find out about.
Im lucky, both my Newfies,2 & 5, mother and daughter, are dry mouths, so they dont slobber much. They are naturally good around kids, but, as larlaruk points out, its also how you raise them. I, too, dont think they'd suit an apartment as they do need their exercise, and stairs are a problem for their joints.
Oh! Look at her! My dear Tara had to be put to sleep when we discovered she was riddled with cancer at only 6 years old. I miss her and dream of her all the time! I can't wait to get another newfie.
we lost molly to cancer at 4 1/2 and this is why we ended up with this puppy (dolly) not to replace, just to fill a big hole. molly will always be in our hearts and never far from our throughts.good luck to u, i hope u find wot u need too.
I have one named Kahless. he is awesome. when we take him for walks people ask us why we are walking a bear. most people are scared of him also. Kahless is about 9 years old with bad hips. we are afraid he might die soon :(
Its called hip displaysia, very common in newfoundlands. Unfortunately, newfs lifespan is short for dogs, 8-10 years.Usually for dogs it 15 years. Newfies are awsome dogs, enjoy kahless while you can=)
thanks for saying that u r right she is about 4 months in this vid and no where near over weight. some people have no clue wot they r talkin about. she is now 1 year old and 10 times the size and weights in at about 140lbs about avg for a newfie
Our Newfy Barney is almost 4 and weighs in at about 170 (solid) lbs. I remember when he was a pup, he acted exactly like your pup did. We cherish him. He is a member of our family and the kids absolutely adore him. And it truly amazes me how much he loves the kids.
LOL! he looks just like my newfie. same temper, same bark and same behavior. I got mine when he was about 5 weeks old and he's male newfie, but he's about a year old now. they grow very fast, but thank-god they mature after a while.
i dont think we really ever had much of a problem until we got a male newfoundland. we have to keep him in the crate still and hes almost a year old. when we're not watching him he's chewed up parts of the walls and some furniture
So reminds me of my sweetie when he was young. ^_^ He recked my father's garden shoes. ^-^ His brother was worse though. Apparently she chewed the telephone cable at her humans house till the line was dead. ^^
Wow! She's FULL of energy! Just when I thought I missed the puppy stage . . . thanks for the reminder ;) She's adorable. Can't wait to see more as she grows up.
Love that name ---Dolly Dimple. She sure is having a great time of it! Puppy energy.... I have four newfs myself... the yougest being 9 months now....
Love your newfies! My parents have rambunctious brother and sister newfies. They keep us entertained.

PinkSander 4 years ago
most Newfies r great with kids, but as with any dog it depends on how u bring them up. i do not think a newfie would suite an apartment because of any stairs u might have, we do not let our newfs climb any stairs untill they r at lest 6 months old as can damage there joints. they also slobber ALOT, floor celing you and kids could get covered, blow there coats twice a year, so hair and slober, nice mix!!

Vet bills very high, our male digby has cost us well over $10,000 in 4 years, (must get insureance) so all in all a very hige maintaince dog, Food, vets, coat care ect = one very expence dog. also very hard to find a good breeder, Heart, hip score ect r way up there on the list of things to find out about.
larlaruk 4 years ago
Im lucky, both my Newfies,2 & 5, mother and daughter, are dry mouths, so they dont slobber much. They are naturally good around kids, but, as larlaruk points out, its also how you raise them. I, too, dont think they'd suit an apartment as they do need their exercise, and stairs are a problem for their joints.

newfoundlands are the best swimmers of the dog world. thats why they were used as rescue swimmer dogs

Oh! Look at her! My dear Tara had to be put to sleep when we discovered she was riddled with cancer at only 6 years old. I miss her and dream of her all the time! I can't wait to get another newfie.
llacko 4 years ago
we lost molly to cancer at 4 1/2 and this is why we ended up with this puppy (dolly) not to replace, just to fill a big hole. molly will always be in our hearts and never far from our throughts.good luck to u, i hope u find wot u need too.

I have one named Kahless. he is awesome. when we take him for walks people ask us why we are walking a bear. most people are scared of him also. Kahless is about 9 years old with bad hips. we are afraid he might die soon :(
Febnig 4 years ago
aww.=(
i have the same problem with my newfie, molly.
Its called hip displaysia, very common in newfoundlands. Unfortunately, newfs lifespan is short for dogs, 8-10 years.Usually for dogs it 15 years. Newfies are awsome dogs, enjoy kahless while you can=)

Our Newfy Barney is almost 4 and weighs in at about 170 (solid) lbs. I remember when he was a pup, he acted exactly like your pup did. We cherish him. He is a member of our family and the kids absolutely adore him. And it truly amazes me how much he loves the kids.

my newfoundland is kinda like that, 9 weeks old, and he plays with my other golden retriever indi
TheGreenBastardPU 4 years ago
LOL! he looks just like my newfie. same temper, same bark and same behavior. I got mine when he was about 5 weeks old and he's male newfie, but he's about a year old now. they grow very fast, but thank-god they mature after a while.

i dont think we really ever had much of a problem until we got a male newfoundland. we have to keep him in the crate still and hes almost a year old. when we're not watching him he's chewed up parts of the walls and some furniture

haha awh, he's just happy to be alive.

ive got a 5 year old newfoundland, he weights 230 pounds
alexsell187 4 years ago
Your dog is hella overweight or over breeded
adriannis777 4 years ago
One thing to keep in mind. Skinny dogs live longer. 230lb is probably 80-100 lb too high.
larrymoorephotograph 4 years ago
Its to do with what type of breed they are that what depends on the age they live to and how you look after them of course.

I'm talking about Newfs. I've owned 6 over the years.

So reminds me of my sweetie when he was young. ^_^ He recked my father's garden shoes. ^-^ His brother was worse though. Apparently she chewed the telephone cable at her humans house till the line was dead. ^^
