@TheLondonArde Thank you! ... I love to create custom hair cuts for my Clients! ... Makes me very happy! But more happy that others, like yourself, are happy with my work too! :)
@realvanillahair Always my pleasure! And I wish I could share more of my hair cutting techniques and skills with you!! ... I've been swamped behind my hair chair.... but am most definitely adding more video education to my Hair Cutting Education videos!!
@jerkid87 The angles of the hair cut around the face are what predict HOW the angles will LOOK on ANY SHAPE OF FACE. YES this cut can be created for ANY SHAPE of face. If the angle hits under the cheek then it's going to sharpen the cheek bones. If the bangs are squared they will block the face - make it more square. If they are angled, they will lengthen the face. OPTIONS ARE WHAT ARE IMPORTANT WHEN IT COMES TO CREATING CUSTOM HAIR CUTS! :) ... Thanks for asking! Tke the plunge!
@KHAlilxv Thank you for letting me know. :-) It's my goal to write my own. :-) However, I use what I am able. :-) Next time, turn down the volume. ;-) And when I have music that you love Turn it up up up!! ;-)
@KHAlilxv I went to Beauty School in 1984. Just ... one in South Florida... at those times... it was "get your license" then APPRENTICE! So,... it was not so much the school... but the apprentice ship I did. ... And I come from a background of where I learned to read architectural blueprints when I was 5!!! So.. angles and dimensions and creating things is always what I've done. Plus, I studied 2 and 3 Dimensional Design at art school. ... Cutting haiir well is NOT THE SCHOOL but one's CRAFT! :)
@MyBellaColorStudio hi there!! greetings from Bulgaria :) I love your work and as a matter of fact I'm verry interested in hairdressing :) anyway I m writing you to ask you what's the name of the song in this video I really like it ,but have no idea how to find it so if can write me back I'll appreciate it ! 10x !!!
@KHAlilxv Thank you... ... I'm doing my best with the open license sounds tracks I purchased. Ofcourse, it's my goal to give you custom... but I'm only learning to play the paino. ;) ... Thank you for commenting. ... How do you think I feel when I have to edit it? lol Hugs to you all! :)
@HowToKillAVampire Take a look at the comments below... A round face can handle this angled bob hair cut so long as the length of the front does not end up at chin level. I would recommend the length be kept under the chin to create a slimming effect. I also recommend that there be an angle created in the bang area to offset any width from having a horizontal bang. :-)
@seda11000 I do recommend this style for a square face so long as the front lengths bevel under the chin. This can actually soften the jaw line and create a more heart-shaped face. A side part helps to soften the squareness of the jaw too. Thank you for commenting! ;-)
i really like how you cut hair but sadly i dont live in cali =( I have long hair and i always had long hair but i wanna go short and get a angled bob as well but im scared if i go to the salon they might not do it right. so im still debating if i should go short. i want to experience short hair for once.
@newSOUL10 Thank you! I suggest that you find someone in your area who already has a fabulous hair cut and ask what Stylist created it. Then I would request a complimentary consultation. Then, if you feel great about it, then GO FOR IT! ...Too bad you don't live in Cali. I would love to create a new look for you! Thank you for commenting! Best of luck!
@chockybickbick Thank you! I use Yasaka 5 inch. Razor must feel balanced, and be NEW for each cut! I do not use thinning shears... as I custom blend the ends with my Yasakas. :-) PS Also have your shears professionally sharpened about every 4 months. The sharpness of the blade is what gives you excellent control. Also oil your shears. And adjust the tension so that your hand moves with the ease you are comfortable with! :-)
I'm going to attempt to cut my hair tonight..... with this video (and the others) as my teacher. I simply don;t have 4 hours to sit in a hair dresser and most of the times that I actually do I end up coming home to do over my hair anyways.
@ruthjones53 it is true that the Artist holds the vision and hopefully the skill to implement it! ;-) Smiles right back at ya! Thank you for commenting! :-)
@hukulelelili Oh my! Well, when it comes to shaping an angled bob hair cut, the Hair Stylist really needs to know how to do it. Firstly, the angle of the head during the cut is extremely important. Secondly, the angles created must move with your natural hair movement. Together, these two aspects can make or break a great angled bob hair cut. I recommend you grow it out... and then FIND someone with the cut you love and ask WHO did it. Then, get a consultation to ensure you are in good hands.
@hukulelelili You are welcome. Good luck. And whenever you are in So Cal, let me know, and I will be more than happy to design a hair cut for you!! :-)
@hukulelelili Hang in there. I guess you need to be patient now and let it grow. I recommend that you find someone in your area that has a great bob and ask what Stylist created that cut. Or, you can fly to Burbank CA!! I hope your hair cut has grown in now!! :-)
@happyseniors2000 Thank you! It's always fun to create a new custom hair cut for a Client. Happy you found a hair style you love! Are you going to ask your Stylist for this Layered Angled Bob?
@Stephanie35781 If you have found a cut that you love, then simply show that cut to your Stylist. If you have found your desired cut in this video, then please show it to your Stylist. Pictures and videos are worth their weight in gold once you have found your new hair cut and/or color!! :-)
Watching this video save my life lol. I watched it Saturday morning to get more h/c techniques and my mom asked me to color and to cut her hair into an A-line bob. I'm not much into cutting hair because i take too long, but her hair came out great because i watched this video . thank you sharon !
@missbish This is fabulous news! I am so happy that your watching my hair cutting video enabled you to give your Mom a great hair cut and color! I'm pleased to help spread the creativity! Inspiration is contagious! Now you have inspired me to make more videos! :-) !!
@MyBellaColorStudio yes it came out very soft and flattering and my mom is my toughest critic. I'm so happy you that you're inspired to do more videos. I'm more of a visual person , so watching you cut and color , foils ect helps me understand what you're trying to achieve even though you don't speak lol...i just get it ! do you like doing up-do's ? i want to know how to do a french twist with a ponytail ? i can't find any pics online or videos.
I finally understand! I'm so excited to try this haircut! I'm an apprentice cosmetologist and I've watched this video a few times. The first time I watched it, it sort of blew my mind, lol. I thought you just magically knew where to go and what to do, and what needed to be cut, but I think I understand now! :D
When you made the triangle in the back, when you first started you were cutting your guide, right? And you just point-cutted the shape you wanted and razored in your layers?
@Enterwithpraise Thank you. When I design a hair cut I always allow the natural growth patterns and textures to move as I cut the hair design into place. Doing this allows the hair to move freely without the Client having to pull the hair with a blowdryer and/or flat iron in order to get the same "angles" as pulled by the Stylist. I do admit my hair cuts wear well and last way too long!! :-) Thank you for commenting. Happy you noticed! :-)
@brenibaby94 That is great! I am so happy that you were able to successfully cut your friends hair after watching my hair cutting video!! ;-) YOU GO!!! :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio: It came out pretty well and, luckily, my friend loves it!!! I had a bit of trouble with the layers since I didn't have a razor, and with keeping the bottom layer even, but overall it came out really well. It definitely does not look like it was done by someone who's never cut hair in her life. Thanks for the vote of confidence =D
This is an AMAZING cut! Very nice work. My friend wants me to cut her hair like this. The problem is I have absolutely ZERO hair cutting experience. I've told her she's crazy if she wants me to cut her hair, and she says she doesn't care. So I told her I accept no responsibility in how it turns out. I assume this would be too difficult to do as an amateur, right?
@Katiekinsism You can do it! Just watch the video over and over and over... and go slowly... but trust yourself... and I think you can do it! Always keep in mind the desired result. Look at the hair as it is wet... and always imagine the end result as you create/cut each section. GOOD LUCK! And do let me know how it comes out. PS I started cutting hair while at art school. I taught myself at first.... consider it "Hair Architecture" and have fun! Do let me know how your first hair cut comes out!
@ProAnaStarvingWorks Creating custom cuts takes as long (or as little) as it takes. Sometimes the cut takes less than one half hour, sometimes more. It would be hard for me to always have to cut within an allotted period of time. I suggest you work your magic, and if there is "time" left over, then spend it detailing the end result. Clients want GREAT hair cuts! No matter if the time frame is more or less. Just create AWESOME CUTS and your career will succeed!
@EmzTrash Thanks for commenting. Have you made any videos of your work? This cut actually took a while due to the filming and the precision of the work. Some cuts take less time, some more. Time is not the issue - excellent results are! Perhaps I need to create a video of one of the 5 cut cuts... like in the 80's when the Platform work called for showing off how few sections we could take to do one hair cut. Enjoy your creativity! :-)
@harmando10 Thank you for commenting. I suggest you find someone who has the hair you love and ask her who did it. Then, schedule a consultation so you can ask the questions you want. This will also allow you time to choose the correct Stylist for your new look! Enjoy! :-)
I think more hair stylists should put up videos like this one, it is a great way to bring people to your business. As someone who has had a lot of different short hair styles I know how hard it is to find someone who knows how to do them properly. Great job. I love it.
@cyndal795 Thank you! I have had new Clients arrive due to the hair videos I have placed on our youtube channel. It's wonderful to help Clients achieve the look they want. I recommend you find someone who has hair you love and ask who did it! Or, come to Los Angeles! :-)
@MyBellaColorStudio In Birmingham, Alabama -- I've been to a bunch of stylists over the years and it's so hard to find someone who can do a good job and give you what you asked for -- I've had several cut my hair that wouldn't cut it right or didn't know what to do with fine hair or they don't cut what you asked for so it's a challenge
@hogmrc Thank you! Your comment is very much appreciated. I own a Hair Salon, called The My Bella Color Studio and it is located in Burbank, CA. Where are you?
Makeup is my thing but I do love cutting hair. I didn't like it at first because at school you have to learn all the basics but once you get to show your own style and learn different techniques, its great. Can't wait till I have many many years of experience ;D Your awesome.
@savanza Anything is possible... but I would strongly suggest you have a Professional help you when it comes to shaping and angling the back of your hair cuts. :-)
@mk2u73 I enjoy using both the razor and point cutting, as well as slicing, and straight cutting. Just LOVE to cut hair. :-) It's fun to use different techniques so long as the hair texture "calls" for it. :-)
@lawtizzle Thank you. Happy you love this hair cut. And as you can see, I love what I do - thus, making it look "easy". :-) Many, many years of experience too. :-)
I have been trying to find a stylist for two and a half years that can give me a cut similar to this. 5 stylists later and much aggravation, I'm still looking. I do have hope as my husband found a woman in the checkout line with the cut I am looking for. I now have an appointment with her stylist on Wednesday morning! I sure wish I could have found you years ago, but I do have hope this time.
I'd say that my strongest background for designing custom cuts comes from the art training that I received while in Art School. I was trained in 2 and 3 dimensional drawing, sculpting, and architectural drawings. And for coloring - color theory and painting. Plus 25 years of doing hair - now that's a lot of practice! But, I mainly broke away from the "norm" in 1993 - becoming an artist - taking charge of the hair - and designing to my standards. :-)
Your AMAZING! I wish you could cut my hair! I can never find anyone that can cut hair right! They always leave the right side so heavy and longer then the left. It just looks more copped on the left every time, I can see & feel it!
That is such a cute hairstyle! I have long hair and want a bob kinda like that, but I'm kinda scared to go short :-\ Anyway, I like your techniques and the videos!
The great thing about hair is that it grows back. If you are wanting this cut, I vote, go for it! It's wonderful to wear a style... perhaps you need to dive in and get the a-lined bob? :-)
Off hand, I do not know of anyone in Northern CA. But - I do suggest you find someone who has a great hair cut, and ask WHO cut it. This is the best way to find a Stylist who can do the kind of work you are wanting. :-) PS Sometimes the walk-in Salons do have great Stylists as they are cutting all day long. :-)
Inspiring! I know that you specialize in color, but your cutting techniques are amazing. I am a student at Marinello in Las Vegas, and I have been trying to educate myself and familiarize myself with techniques other than what my teachers have shown (the basics...)
This hair style is becoming more popular as well. =)
Thank you! I added more videos recently... so you can check those out as well. And, if you want to come to Burbank (about 5 hours away from Vegas), do so, and you can watch me work for a day and assist me too. :-)
Will do. =) I have much to learn, and your videos are great. And thank you for such a generous opportunity! That is reasonably close, I would love to come visit.
I am at the Studio working behind the hair chair from Wednesday - Saturday. All we would need to do is to schedule the time for you to come apprentice for a day or two. For more on this, please message me. :-)
WOW! I love this style! I live outside the US and it is difficult to find a good stylist. I plan to share this video with my stylist here. I hope she can come up with something close!
Thank you! I love what I do, and I love it when others love it too! Come back and check for more videos, or subscribe, so you can be notified as I upload more videos.
This cut works for a round face as along as the angles in the front break up the roundness. This can be done by adding a layer under the cheek bone and under the chin. Falling longer under the chin will also help elongate the face.
OMG that sounds AMAZING... i was actually telling a friend a few days ago how i want to visit your salon, when i get a chance to visit him down south of course :)... ! I've been applying here in my area for months.. checking out hopeful salons with no luck !!! As soon i saw your videos i really felt an amazing connection with all that you do.. !!!
Sounds great! Let me know when you would like to come down to this area. I was thinking of having an educational Seminar at the Studio in November. What is it you want to learn most?
Well I'm looking to learn Color and cutting.. after cosmo school i took a 2 year break to travel alil and learn something totally diff.. now im back and feel very outa place in this industry...any tips would be welcomed also ill have to see if i can work out november or not :)
That song is an original by Roxanne Morganstein - a Hair Client of mine who is a talented musician and singer. I edited the music to go with the video. But it's her original work.
I was wondering.. Can I be more dramatic with layers without ruining the bob? I have a very simple chin-length bob and I was thinking of adding layers on the sides and bang for an edgier look..
The cutting of her bangs side ways allows for the edge to be softer as it falls to the opposite side it was pulled to. And it also creates an angle on the front edge making it easier for her to push her hair to the side. As noticed... her growth pattern on her bang area is very strong. The added angle helps push against this.
A razor is needed to slice through the hair. Thinning shears will not create the same effect as the razor does.
Thicker hair can be razored into to create the flow of the layers IF the Stylist uses the razor and angles it correctly and does NOT leave the ends too thin.. as they may go frizzy on thicker hair texture.
you can tell she's a great hair stylist just by the way she cuts. Almost all freehand and yet she has so much control.

is cutting your hair short good if you have thick hair?
23BrendaMercado 1 week ago
@23BrendaMercado some variation of a bob can work with any hair. A bob with lots of texture and layers would be good for thick hair.

this is the style that i've ever wanted.
i decided to have short hair after having it long for so long enough (it was waist lengh anyway)
so i went to the saloon that i most trusted.i told her that this is the exact style that i want.
SADLY,she cut it to an ordinary bob (it is more to a little girl's cut)!!
i was so deepressed.and i missed my long hair. (she cut it real short)
:'(
wish i could have someone can help me repair the cut... :'(

Do let me know how your first hair cut comes out!

emz.. in good beauty salons the owners wont let u cut the client no faster tan an hr . well u have to keep the client in the chair for an hr.
ProAnaStarvingWorks 1 year ago
@ProAnaStarvingWorks Creating custom cuts takes as long (or as little) as it takes. Sometimes the cut takes less than one half hour, sometimes more. It would be hard for me to always have to cut within an allotted period of time. I suggest you work your magic, and if there is "time" left over, then spend it detailing the end result. Clients want GREAT hair cuts! No matter if the time frame is more or less. Just create AWESOME CUTS and your career will succeed!

Shes takes a long time... should take ten mins doing a haircut. 20 minutes at the most. I am a hairdresser myself..
EmzTrash 1 year ago
@EmzTrash Thanks for commenting. Have you made any videos of your work? This cut actually took a while due to the filming and the precision of the work. Some cuts take less time, some more. Time is not the issue - excellent results are! Perhaps I need to create a video of one of the 5 cut cuts... like in the 80's when the Platform work called for showing off how few sections we could take to do one hair cut. Enjoy your creativity! :-)
MyBellaColorStudio 1 year ago
Love it. i want my hair like that but not sure of a good salon to go to, every where i go they always seem to mess my hair up.
harmando10 1 year ago

MyBellaColorStudio 1 year ago
@MyBellaColorStudio In Birmingham, Alabama -- I've been to a bunch of stylists over the years and it's so hard to find someone who can do a good job and give you what you asked for -- I've had several cut my hair that wouldn't cut it right or didn't know what to do with fine hair or they don't cut what you asked for so it's a challenge

Makeup is my thing but I do love cutting hair. I didn't like it at first because at school you have to learn all the basics but once you get to show your own style and learn different techniques, its great. Can't wait till I have many many years of experience ;D Your awesome.

@stlcountrygrl Awesome! Did you have your Stylist design a layered angled bob for you?
MyBellaColorStudio 1 year ago
@MyBellaColorStudio Yes. She did. It looks great! Next time, I am going to go for a shorter style.
stlcountrygrl 1 year ago
How would you do this on your own hair? is it possible (most especially the cutting and layering the back)?
savanza 1 year ago
@savanza Anything is possible... but I would strongly suggest you have a Professional help you when it comes to shaping and angling the back of your hair cuts. :-)
MyBellaColorStudio 1 year ago
I like that you point cut the whole thing. I thought I loved the razor but I must say I am liking point cutting better. Looks great!
mk2u73 1 year ago 2
@mk2u73 I enjoy using both the razor and point cutting, as well as slicing, and straight cutting. Just LOVE to cut hair. :-) It's fun to use different techniques so long as the hair texture "calls" for it.

I hope your cut went well today! Do let me know!
MyBellaColorStudio 2 years ago
where did you get educated on your color and cuts? love it all.
femmefatale650 2 years ago
I'd say that my strongest background for designing custom cuts comes from the art training that I received while in Art School. I was trained in 2 and 3 dimensional drawing, sculpting, and architectural drawings. And for coloring - color theory and painting. Plus 25 years of doing hair - now that's a lot of practice! But, I mainly broke away from the "norm" in 1993 - becoming an artist - taking charge of the hair - and designing to my standards. :-)

Do you know who can cut hair like this in Northern California? I know supercuts, great clips, etc. wouldn't have the slightest clue how to do this.
7thSense 2 years ago
Off hand, I do not know of anyone in Northern CA. But - I do suggest you find someone who has a great hair cut, and ask WHO cut it. This is the best way to find a Stylist who can do the kind of work you are wanting. :-) PS Sometimes the walk-in Salons do have great Stylists as they are cutting all day long. :-)
MyBellaColorStudio 2 years ago
Inspiring! I know that you specialize in color, but your cutting techniques are amazing. I am a student at Marinello in Las Vegas, and I have been trying to educate myself and familiarize myself with techniques other than what my teachers have shown (the basics...)
This hair style is becoming more popular as well. =)

cutie and love the cut making her hair sexy like yours
kcrgd 2 years ago
great!!! hey does this haircut is ok for a round face
xhalomit 2 years ago 2
This cut works for a round face as along as the angles in the front break up the roundness. This can be done by adding a layer under the cheek bone and under the chin. Falling longer under the chin will also help elongate the face.

Layers can also be placed into the angled bob so long as the layers MOVE with it!
Shorter layers around the face could potentially lose the look of the sever A-Line.
Layers can pivot from the crown and drop over the A-Line.
Perhaps it is time for a new bob hair cut video? :-)
MyBellaColorStudio 2 years ago
I was wondering.. Can I be more dramatic with layers without ruining the bob? I have a very simple chin-length bob and I was thinking of adding layers on the sides and bang for an edgier look..
Thank you so much for your answer!

The bare neck helps me to create a clean line.
I always dust off any cut hair left on the neck.. and do not get any hair down the back, etc.
Always do my best to keep it clean... and to keep the Client comfortable. ;-)
MyBellaColorStudio 2 years ago
why dont they use cutting collar ot towel during the cut to stop hairs from going down the back of her neck
Aleavey13 2 years ago
The cutting of her bangs side ways allows for the edge to be softer as it falls to the opposite side it was pulled to. And it also creates an angle on the front edge making it easier for her to push her hair to the side. As noticed... her growth pattern on her bang area is very strong. The added angle helps push against this.
MyBellaColorStudio 2 years ago
cutting the bangs to the side what is that creating?

A razor is needed to slice through the hair. Thinning shears will not create the same effect as the razor does.
Thicker hair can be razored into to create the flow of the layers IF the Stylist uses the razor and angles it correctly and does NOT leave the ends too thin.. as they may go frizzy on thicker hair texture.
