  • Thank you for posting. This is unbelievable. I want to find out how to get ahold of the source this came from (VHS I assume).

  • You are absolutely right. She was a genius, and a genuine person. I knew her in Canada many years ago, alone with my good friend Andres Segovia.

  • @maluisa3 Yeah, sure....

  • The documentary and full performance of the Beethoven piano concerto 1 is available on VHS, We all miss Alicia, a dear friend; Thank God that we have recordings and videos of this extraordinary artist.

  • Such amazing piano technique!

  • Amazing short videos showing such talented people, wish it would go for hours. Duddley Moore, Michael Tilson and the incomparable piano-sage Alicia de Larrocha, can anybody post the full interview? i seldom see people having such wonderful time, chatting about themselves, Beethoven and what not. YouTube rocks!!

  • Su canto, su fraseo, magistral en su natural y fluida madurez.... clase para todos . Gracias.

  • I did not know that part of Dudly Moore, good

  • There IS a lot of nail clatter! First thing I noticed at 5:57.

  • Didn't know Dudley Moore had such a great left hand! Must have been damned nervous playing in front of the Larrocha....who wouldn't be?

  • Which one is what they are singing at 1:28?

  • @tengoalubias 2nd movement of the 5th symphony

  • man do I miss Dudley Moore and his classy, cool comedy and everything else he did like music and such

  • fantastic painist! lovely lady. a true artist!

  • This is kind of a trial post. My last out pouring to and about De Larrocha was not captured. Lost!! It is fun to hear Alicia talk about the music with various and sundry. John Benson, MD

  • It depresses me on some level that de Larrocha isn't as famous as a lot of the other pianists of the twentieth century - she is just as good as Horowitz, Rubinstein, Argerich, or Richter, but it seems she doesn't get as much recognition.

Plus, I love Moore and Tilson Thomas, so this video was just delightful!

  • @BenMcCormack91

I'm agree with you just with one difference: I can't judge Argerich because she is an extraordinary pianist with a lot of experience, but in my personal taste, I don't listen to her as this kind of artists. Horowitz, Gilels, Rubinstein, Larrocha, Richter, Kempf, Perlemuter, Fisher...they were gold pianists AND gold artists we dosn't have anymore. Argerich have an amazing technique, she is beautiful with a great personality, she is fantastic but very different to those artists.

  • @SalHernor Actually, I'll agree with you on that, I think. If I had to pick one living pianist who I thought was great, it wouldn't be Argerich; it'd be Pletnev. And let's just not mention the stuff he's gotten himself into up to his shoulders in the past few weeks, because I'm trying to keep my opinion of the art separate from my opinion of the artist.

  • My favorite is 5:26 where de Larrocha says she likes to play the rondo as if beer steins were being clanked in a show of great merriment.

  • Lovely person, full of sensitivity and one of the greatest pianist of the century. She learned from E. Granados. and was great with all composers noy only with the spanish ones. Rest in peace. Her records performances will lbe with us forever.

  • Touching to see her and Dudley Moore talking knowing they're both no longer with us.

  • she die today,, rip

  • wonderful!

  • She has a "heavenly" touch!

  • It´s amazing, Anyone who has seen play or has been taught by Olga Radosavljevich at CIM can see her hands and technique in Ms. de Larrocha´s.

  • OMG! They talk about pieces like their part of their daily lives!

  • Michael Tilson Thomas is an incomparable twat.

  • agreed

  • unbearable.

  • Seriously. He heads the symphony in SF and the worst part of going there is having to sit through his bullshit all the time.

  • alicia is a wonderful ambassador for spain and musical genius to see her a dudley moore enjoying each others musical exspirances is really a majical momment thank you for posting

  • Thank you so much for posting this! The comments are fascinating! I love their explanation of Beethoven's intended meaning. I love watching her finger technique.

  • She is the best...

Thank you so much for this video

    kevin

  • Who is the handsome man in light purple shirt? (very cool and knowing.) John Culshaw?

Anyway, Alicia is just wonderful, light and powerful at the same time. Queen of the Piano - but a rather humble queen! And Dudley with his funny Beethoven parody.(I have a piano pupil 5 y.o. who played Beethoven at a contest and came 3rd. She must see this!) (Linhdan. Please watch her on YouTube!)

  • The guy you're asking about is Michael Tilson Thomas. He's now the conductor for the San Francisco symphony.

  • D'oh ! Never mind. You meant the recording engineer didn't you (in the light purple shirt....) ? Don't know who he is. Sorry...

  • Alicia has been praised and maligned, but I align myself with her supporters, and to me her granados is peerles! Dudley was very talented musically and as an actor. It's such a shame that his life ended so painfully.

  • Thankyou for posting this!

  • please explain how she is a fake woman

  • You d'ont have any idea... What are you talking about??? She didn't have anithing to do with Franco!!!! And, what do you mean saying that she is a fake woman? I can see that you don't know her.

  • I have never known a person more dedicated to art, and the personal search to try to best perform the desires of all composers she played. I would suggest you look seriously at Spanish history, as you seem to know as little about the Franco era as you do Alica de Larrocha

  • Dudley Moore played a lot of classical music, too. He was a "natural." De Larrocha was so good she even played the greatly feared Rachmaninov 3rd, and she played it well, although one "bastard" critic wrote that he thought it (the Rach III) "was just too much concerto for her to play." Untrue!

  • Thank you!

  • Beautiful! Thank you so much for posting these!

  • I love this Orchestra series sooo much when I was a kid. Please post the series on the woodwinds where they did Mozarts Marriage of Figaro Overture. Thank you again!

  • The warmth and joy of these two clips is, as Dudley Moore would put it, lovely, lovely, lovely. Did I already say this was lovely? Thank you!

  • Dudley Moore was so talented. Oscar Peterson said he was one of the best jazz piano players he had ever seen in his life, right at the top of the tree. You can see why with his amazing technical skill

  • It would be great if the person who owns this wonderful performance post the whole Concerto.

    Thanks so much.

Alicia de Larrocha is a wonderful performer and human being!

  • amazing..again thanks.
