If You like Irish rock like this, We are a band with a singer born in Ireland and we want tp share our music with You. Go to our channel here by clicking on the blue word to Your left and tell us what You think. Michael Shanahan, Summer and Lightning.
I appreciate the fact that the drum part was more visible during the solo (I needed to learn this song for an upcoming gig); the distinctive 16th note tom is actually to the left of the hi-hat (unconventional) -- good info. Adding Dr. Martin Luther King's words was a great plus.
"The dream" is a lot more than equality. They want your job, "affirmative action" your bank account, "slave reparations" your daughter too. We are on the way to a mix race country. I like Bill Cosby and what he said.
Ok, affirmative action means just that... empoloyers/schools, take affirmative action to hire QUALIFIED minorities its not a quota and i dont see how they can legally get your bank account, they cant, make a little sense.... the fact that we have thugs in this country has nothing to do with rights and fighting for your people to be treated equally and thats what this song is about
Affirmative action means you don't hire the most qualified person, you hire black, Hispanic, women persons that are less qualified. They WILL get your bank account if they get slave reparations. The people that opposed MLK were involved in a fight long before Bono was born. The Union League, The Grand Army of the Republic and the Loyal league is where the fight with MLK started. Way before a U2 fan would know or was born.
It is illegal, look it up, to hire less qualified people. The law specifically states that you hire qualified minorities and women out of a pool of people representative of a particular area's population. There are NO QUOTAS as this is a myth. I can't think of any movement that has any legitimate shot at getting reparations paid, so i wouldnt worry; even so, they still cant have your bank account, theyll just have some of the money that we're currently spending in every other country.
Bono needs to think about what the civil rights movement did to America. You can't go to the store without seeing a mixed race family. The children are suffering life long identity crisis. "I have a dream" has turned into a rap nightmare. My American town has a high murder rate. Most of the killings are in the black part of town. Bono knows nothing about what he sings.
well i dont think slaves were exactly jumping at the chance to come to america in the first place. maybe you should redirect your anger to the people who brought them here against their will in the first place.
Your right! The only thing about the people that brought slaves to America is they thought they were improving their lives. Americans' bought slaves. Slavery still exist in Africa. Try Iabolish dot com. If the US hadn't used slavery to expand westward other slave owning countries like France and Spain would have. This lets all hold hands idea in America will get ya killed and your daughter knocked up. Bono doesn't know what he is talking about.
Civil Rights movement was not the 'thugs rights movement' its completely different, the civil rights movement actually brought alot of people into mainstream, honest, law-abiding American life... i dont get your point or anyone elses, its not like Bono's saying to be thug huggers and listen to gangsta rap.. U2 knows how to make real music!
What did I get myself into? I am all into equality for everyone. The civil rights movement turned into the lets take money from those that worked for it and give it to those that didn't earn it. Next, how would you like to be half black and half white? Thats what we have in America. To be an American in the future is to be multiracial.

One man blew out another man's brains in the name of BLOOD! Abe Lincoln, MLK, JFK. Bono is jut another liberal. Now the teenagers walk around with their pants down below there asses. The "dream" has turned into a rap nightmare. Bono is an idiot.
The 'dream' was that blacks have the same rights as whites.. the fact that gangster rappers hold sway over many black people troubles many blacks to no end.. Bill Cosby, etc.. MLK himself would despise these people who rap about violence and drugs... get educated, you idiot.. all blacks that have ever gone anywhere know that being a gangsta gets you nowhere and if u open ur eyes, you'll see theyve said that publicly many times!
although i have not been to a concert of U2 yet, I am probably one of their biggest fans:) I love U2<3
