  • many have mentioned drummer Bobby Graham, Britain's most recognised session drummer. He also backed visiting American artists. Gene Pitney was apparently a bit concerned his own drummer wasn't on tour but was more than relieved when he heard Bobby on the sticks. He drummed on the "Them" hits, Van Morrison's band. He died 2 years ago but check out his site "bobbygraham.co.uk"

  • The greatest Phil Spector-song that Phil Spector never wrote together with Wizzard - See my baby jive

  • One of my favorites from Dusty. I read in several places that she hated this song!

  • Like so many other songs, why don't we hear this on the "oldies" stations?

  • Superb! Uplifting music for the soul.

I find that the problem with much of todays music is that it is simply soul-less.

Although Dusty Springfield never claimed to be a 'soul singer' when she sings she tugs at your soul and that I think is what good music should do.

A great song and good post.

    Thanks.

  • This would have been a hit if it had been released as a single back in the day.

  • It was. It just made the top 40. It might have been the wrong time for the song, though. With She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand dominating the charts, a Phil Spector pastiche might have sounded passe. Great record, though.

  • This great song only got as high as #38 on the Billboard pop charts in 1964, and it's definitely one of my favorites by her. True, it does sound a bit Phil Spector influenced, and in the midst of the "British Invasion", that and the whole "girl group" genre might have been fading, but it's STILL one heck of a darn great song, sung by a great, soulful singer!

  • Thought they were going to do a movie on this beautiful singer and was hoping this song would be part of it. Thanks again for my Dusty fix.

  • My pleasure. I've got a couple of other tracks on here, live from 'Ready Steady Go'. She was so natural and warm. Lovely to see her interacting with the audience.

  • @samjtwinn

    They have made a musical.

    My mum is in it.

It has all of DUsty's hit songs and it is like the story of her life.

    It is positively BRILLIANT!!

If you can find a production on, go see it. It is like a drug for all Dusty fans.

So if you can, go see a production.

  • @singasongful1 ........what part did your Mum play??

  • @woody7075

    She played Reno.

  • @samjtwinn

There is a musical production of her life story featuring over 40 of her hit songs.

    It is fabulous. Super-duper show.

My mum is in it at the moment.

The most brilliant show I think I've ever seen, and I've seen over 200 shows, so that says a lot.

  • Thanks for this, I was craving to hear this great song. It was big in Toronto when I was a younger man.

  • Great song....great video. Thanks!

  • What a voice, full marks for every thing, love yer lass. Ray♥ X X X

  • This song is so under-appreciated! One of my favorites even if it is one of the shortest!

  • This is one of the greatest song ever: it's got power, soul, rythm, eros ...all the stuff we miss in today's show business

  • Fabulous song. Fabulous singer. The one and only Dusty..

  • its amazing to think that she really disliked this song once she'd sang it

  • The arrangement seems to be very much influenced by Phil Spector (not surprising; Phil was king of the world back then).

Does anyone know who produced this song?

  • Hi Peregrine1010, John Franz was the producer.

  • I kind of thought this song had a touch of Spector's "Wall Of Sound"

  • The drummre is top class too

  • Brilliant

  • Oh....I promise to stay!!

  • Maybe my favorite of Dusty's songs. Thanks!

  • Thanks!

  • The legendary drummer Bobby Graham was the session drummer for this song. He was session drummer for several groups including The Kinks, The Fortunes, The Animals, The Walker Brothers, solo performers like Lulu, Tom Jones, Petula Clark, Bill Fury, the list goes on. Just listen to the drums and you can hear why he was chosen to play for several artists.

  • Yes, indeed , those drums are tight as anything. Thanks for telling us.

  • not a big hit in the United States but one of my favorites
