I hate it when they say: "But the celebrities had diet supervision"
Have you ever heard the garbage that comes out of most "doctors" or "nutritionists" in places like hollywood or LA? I'm not sure what show exactly but it was an english documentary similar to this where she was about 5'5" and I think about 120lbs and the weight-loss specialized "doctor" said she was almost in the obese catagory.
Just because a celebrity did it doesn't make it smart.
@XxMariahPANICxX I totally agree with you. Never trust a celebrity to tell the whole story and their so called nutritionists are probably quacks. They never admit to how much they smoke and the side effects they suffered from. There are no quick fixes that work. You need to change your eating habits for life and exercise if you want to lose weight.
In this documentary the 'celebrity doctor' said her fat percentage was obese; and real doctors that work with athletes considered her healthy before she started the experiment.
"starvation mode" IS A FRAUD concept in most cases
It is a bullshit concept that dieticians invented in order to fear-monger people into feeling they need a dietician to lose weight "the right way". A fattie losing weight by eat low-calories is NOT in starvation mode.
That only happens to skinny people in war-torn countries with famines, not with a fatties skipping a few meals.
@AlekNovy actually starvation mode is not a Fraud. It is a way for our bodies to retain fat and nutrients that might be needed at a later date. If our bodies think that we are not going to be able to eat for awhile it is going to want to save as much nutrients as possible in order to keep us functioning.
Someone's going to look at my youtube history and think I'm a low self-esteem, weight-watching twig.... I'm watching this documentary after having finished two others about body dismorphic disorder and living with a size zero body... :P
Why not consider DietOramy body mass loss diet? Have you learned of about this method? I've stumbled upon it at random googling for systems and that solution is outright awesome... I am reducing my accumulated fat plus beginning to feel far healthier.
i did a starvation diet a day for a month... i was under the 300kcal a day (im a man btw) i lost 12kg (about 2 stones) in a month and a week and i didnt pile it back on... all u have to do is be aware that your brain is gonna ask for more food and your body will absorb food much quicker, so instead of obeying your brain u simply dont and keep good control of what u eat for the next 5-6 months... eventually your brain gets used to it...
@sstormhift btw i wanted to lose 10kg so i lost 12 so i could put 2 back on, this act of putting 2kg back on was to fool the body in thinking i was "getting better", i found it was important to give the body this false sensation and it did work.... took me 4-6 years to put it back on and i did in muscles not only in fat.... so yep, no regrets... just fucking know what ure doing.
What she doesn't know is that what she lost was mostly muscle, leaving her a bit smaller, yes, but mostly just flabbier. We do like to think that being skinny is just how much we weight, but that's not true. If you starve of your muscle you might actually end up raising your fat percentage, so although you might weigh less you would be fatter, in a way. And a lot more unhealthy :/
This scares me. During the Holocaust prisoners were given 300 to 600 calories a day. Plus, the hairdresser is gorgeous. I would love to look like her!
i don't understand why all people who try maple syrup drink say it's okay tasting or even good. I actually tried this diet and the taste of it was extremely disgusting to me, it made me wanna puke each time i drank it so i had to breathe thorugh my mouth in order to not feel the flavour...
@SkylarPro same here my aunt went on it and actually liked the taste and didn't have a hard time i took a sip and i was disgusted how do you drink that for 2 weeks..yikes i'd rather water fast
@EllenRebecca3 The dietitian is also just repeating a myth about "starvation mode". Your body doesn't cling to calories when going back to "normal eating" - your normal eating pattern was probably unhealthy in the first place. Starving yourself on 300 calories causes a person to binge (shown in the Super Skinny Me docu), eat way more than their weight-maintenance calorie level, which causes the weight gain. "Quick fixes" *are* bad, but the woman's info is incorrect.
@alexandrakl i'd have to disagree. when i was eating about 500kcal for a few weeks and then started eating about 1000-1200kcal (also healthy foods, nothing typically fattening), which is still much less than a women's daily portion should be, i gained weight pretty rapidly. there's no way around it.
@alexandrakl It's actually true, you're taking away all the nutrition, so while you're starving, your body is hoarding calories, fat, protein, vitamins, everything. When you go back to eating normally, your body continues until it can survive. Your body can't survive on 300 calories a day, so it has to find energy somewhere else.
Maple syrup does not cause sugar spikes and crashes like molasses, honey, and other syrups. Before writing something off, that lady should have researched instead of thinking she knows it all. Not all sugars are the same. As one who has done research and the master cleanse properly and responsably, I hate the automatic label it gets as being a "dangerous crash diet". It is a detox, a counterbalance for all of the pollution our ancestors didn't have to deal with.
I don't know why they are putting the master cleanse in this video as a "diet" it is just that a cleanse. It was not meant to be abused as a diet! It is a cleansing process before someone launches a vegan, raw food or other dietary lifestyle change. It is NOT a diet and those who use it as such are getting away from what the master cleanse is all about it is a detoxification process only.
i did the lemonade detox but only for 4 days and lost weight, but gained it back. so i decided to just work out and eat smart and i ended up losing 15 pounds and am keeping it off.
What these people on the maple syrup diet forget is that it wasn't meant for long-term weight-loss. Beyonce did it for a role and soon got the weight back on. She didn't want to be so skinny.
I wonder if replacing one meal a day with cabbage soup might help as long as you're getting enough calories through the day not to go into starvation mode.
@Rubystars1000 I replaced my normal lunches with a can of tuna each day for two weeks, and lost 6 kilos. Not only that, but my eyesight improved and I had better concentration.
the soup diet is not just soup! I did it a few times, it's like a detox. it's different everyday 1st day fruit and soup, 2nd day vegetables and soup, and so on ... and it's as much fruit and veggies as you want. So saying it's just soup and a starvation diet is absolute BS.
I was just looking at diets, and most nutritionist recommend anything higher then 1200cals, but 1200 is the lowest you should go. Also the more you workout, the more your suppose to eat!??! I always thought the opposite lol.
@miaangel247 I eat 1000kcal a day and exercise regularly. I do confess that I'm really tired by the end of the day. I just go to sleep early, because I'm so hungry. But for the first time in a year I'm finally loosing weight. I didn't loose any at 1500kcal.
@marky77 - yeah. the thing is, on the maple syrup diet you are supposed to have at least 1000 cals. So, I don't know what the heck she was doing only eating 300 cals per day. She obviously decided to do it without doing any research.
