He is one of the best but... Why is it that I rarely hear a melody out of his solos? All I hear is garbles notes from the same scale and a few bends and pinch harmonics. I suck, I'll admit it but why can't he ever put some melody to his solos? Some life and soul in them? just fast scale runs do NOT make a solo. No phrasing, no voicing, no statements, just fast runs. He could be so much better than he already is and he's awesome.

Hey Zero. Have a listen to some of his earlier work. Early Ozzy stuff (after zakk joined) etc... Or YouTube Zakk's ozzy audition. You'll see that back then he had a softer melody style... Now days its just, ultra-speed 15 picks-per-nano second style shredding. I still think hes the best!

The reason is, he saves those for songs. I, , along with a lot of other people, rarely come on youtube and search a guitarist to hear a nice melodic song. I just want 30 seconds of shred. Check out his records if you want melodic, well thought out songs.
