  • we don't need vinegar and baking soda... juz Sodium Acetate and Water is enough to do this...

  • OMG IT WORKS ! awsome job ! :) thank you for this video ;)

  • *In a glass* Hey, thirsty?

  • so if you like had that in a mini gernade form it could freeze someone!

  • science has never had cooler music. lol

  • Looking at the ingredients of these cool ranch doritos brought me here.

  • Comment removed

  • cause the first thing i think of when i think of chemistry is sodium acetate and heavy metal

  • HAHA... GOD HAMMER THINKS HES A PHISICIST ONLY CAUSE HE HEATED A BAGGY OF ACETATE. LOL

  • @THEHUNK8 Well.... I never said that.... I've made tow solution just for fun ...

  • @THEHUNK8 Well, wouldn't it be a "chemist"?

  • @THEHUNK8 HAHA... THEHUNK8 CAN'T SPELL "PHYSICIST". LOL

  • @zach49899 thats why im not one... haha

  • in there sodium acetate crystals on the toothpicks?

  • @celerber yes. On the toothpicks there was some crystals.

  • i love your cat!

  • MAGIC!

  • Rammstein Rules!! I saw them in New York a week and a half ago and they were awesome.

  • @ladylovelipgloss Haaa.... they let the music again :D weeee :D

  • wat will happen if u leave ur finger in there wen its turning into ice??

  • @MiniDreamerrawr you can pull it out... it's not that really solid

  • @GodHammer0 so when u clean it out u can just tip the cup upside down so it will fall?

  • @MiniDreamerrawr so.. my first soluton was less diluted so.. after it has solidifed you could put the cup upside down. My second solution was too diluted... so.. was was still in the cup.

  • is it safe to drank and what is sodium assitate where to get it

    plz help me

  • @MrEpicman10 you can get it easy from a hand warmer packet open the pack and poor into a cup make sure not to pop the little bag within the bigger bag ... the little white crystals are what u need to set it off and start the ice forming

  • dj splash? lol i was listening to this song like 3 mins before i started this video

  • Dont initiate it with Toothpicks ! it will contaminate!

  • @FlashProAnimations no if it's clean....

  • I couldn't get it to work... Used White Vinegar and Sodium Bicarbonate dust... Boiled till water evaporated and alcohol was left.. DIdn't work... any suggestions?

  • errr mines freezing when i put it in da fridge plz help

  • @Homers69charger it's doo saturated, add just a little water. Annd more important make sure the glass is clean :D

  • @GodHammer0 ok thnx :D

  • this is very intresting! too bad i dont know where to find this in greece :(

btw can u eat that ice?

  • @GrPaoOle No, you should not eat the "ice" .... not good :D

All the ingredients can be found in most of the stores.

  • @GrPaoOle

nurdrage has a video of making sodium acetate

  • I thought the "foam gun" in shadow complex was just made up!

ps. Im joking, but imagaine using It like that, FTW!

  • Does it thaw out???

  • What?

  • melt?

  • @GodHammer0 please tell me how to do this

  • @GodHammer0

    He asked, Does it melt?.

  • @kylez963 no what yo do it you heat it until it melts on a stove then you carefully cool it below its melting point with out it actually freezing then you put a crystal of it in and it spontaneously starts freezing

  • @kylez963 he means does it remelt

    at room temp

  • @kylez963 Its not technically frozen, what is happening is he supersaturated the solution and then disrupted it causing it to crystallize rapidly. So it would never melt at room temperature in the same way that crystallized sugar or table salt would never melt at room temperature :)

  • bolied... dont you mean boiled?

  • typo :D

  • when i can get sodium acetate?

  • i have no clue.. that's why i've made it :D

  • whats sodium acetate?

  • search on google :)

  • das some cool shit happening right there

  • do you just mix'em up?

  • where did you get sodium accetrate

  • From a bottle of vinegar and some backing soda. :)

  • how long do you boil it?

  • Until the solution become yellow :), but now brown!

  • pure or distilled white vinegar?

  • The one in the bottle from the supermarket :)

  • yesss i see you have.... why do you have syringes in your house? :P

  • For the 100 times.... because I have.. simple... I, or anybody here can buy syringes from the Pharmacy.

  • put those "icecubes" in your drink and you will probably die....

  • sodium acetate wont kill you...

  • Exacly

  • It won't kill you, but.. it won't make you feel ok either.

  • can u use vinegar?

  • Yes :)

  • so kool

  • those it really, really work!

    please reply

  • Yes.... it really works.. if you get the proportions right.

  • lol i made a bucket or this liquid...craps load of baking soda and vineger. and i stepped in it....................BIG mistake tooking me 6 hours to get it off

  • @ruskie20 bullshit

  • @MINIMI95020 Called lots of chemicals for a cheap price and hot water and a fork to take it off...

  • where do you get sodium asitate

  • I have no clue.. that's why I've made it home :)

  • whered you buy it?

  • u made it?

  • I have no clue :)

  • Godhammer0 what do you do after the solution and done boiling? Like how do you transfer from the metal pot to a container or bottle?

    Please reply...

  • I joust pour it into a cup.... but... watch out if it's too supersaturated... it can crystallize in the process :).. if that happens add a little water...

After I got it into the cup, I've moved it in the fridge to get cool.

  • I just pour it.... as long as it's hot the reaction will not start. And the most important thing is that the second container is clean.

  • god hammer so i can do this without the sodium acetate . only using baking soda vinegar and just boil it til turn yellow and it will transform to this?

  • Yes. As vinegar contains acetic acid, and that in reaction with backing soda results sodium acetate. The boiling is to remove the water from the solution as most of the vinegar is made of water.

  • ummm....do you know where to buy sodium acetate???

  • e-bay

  • so, is it always in that state after the reaction or does it melt or can it be melted down for another using?

  • It remains solid until you heat it up. You can use it as many times you want.

  • stupid ass copyrights

  • ok thanx man

  • ok man in the second solution you used glacial acetate acid what is that ? can you find it in stores

  • Glacial acetic acid is a very pure solution of acetic acid (99.8%)

Vinegar is made of acetic acid and water :)

  • But, in your movie it says: 750 ml of Vinegar, but it looks less than that... :S

  • as much of the vinegar is made of water (90~93%).... when you boil the mixture, the water evaporates so..... you get less solution.

  • God, does it really only takes Vinegar and Baking Soda? :D Or does it needs some very special concentrated laboratory geeky stuff =S? Plz reply ;)

  • Just vinegar (white vinegar) and backing soda.

The second formula is made using lab stuff :)

  • you mean that you can make sodium acetate from vinegar and baking soda?

  • yes

  • That's awesome!!!!

  • 10x

  • it would suck if u left ur finger in that lol

  • no... you would pull it out without a problem :)

  • your finger would get a little warm I think. barry

  • nice trick

  • just repost it with the same track

  • I have to extract the audio from the local video... and post only the audio.

  • This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by WMG. The audio has been disabled. More about copyright

  • I know.. it suk*!

  • dude get a stand or someone to hold up the camera

  • what for?

  • if u get any of those formulas on ur skin, will it be able 2 scrape off like regular ice? or will it rip ur skin

  • You'll be able to scrape it without any problem.

  • YOU HAV A GIRL FREND??

  • As you see in the video :)

  • Why do everybody associate syringes and needles with drugs???

  • o,thats very nice!

  • cool:)

  • I got three questions at wut temperature does it melt and wut makes it freeze and thanks for this vid science this semester will b fun

  • 1. I don't know :) but I believe over 60 degrees Celsius

    2. The reaction starts by using a crystal of sodium acetate.

  • what happen if u put ur hand's in the liquid before it "freeze"??

sorry 4 my bad english :(

  • as it freezes you'll feel the warmth resulted from the reaction. then.. I believe a little tightening around your hand.

  • Woww thats fun!!!

  • what is baking soda?

  • Hey Godhammer! Great video. I have a couple questions for you.

I'm planning to use Sodium acetate as part of a close up magic routine. The point is, by watching the videos I'm not sure to what degree it looks like normal water.

It's obvious that the home-made version is brown-ish, but your second formula seems to look like water, altough I can't tell for sure. What do you think?

    Also, is it toxic/dangerous?

    Thanks.

  • The second one is just like water (as it's transparent)... but it's a little more viscous.

The problem is that both of them are quite unstable, and if some grain of who knows what falls in it, it will solidify - this happened to me than I've saturated a little more the solution so that it will become harder.

And if it's toxic or dangerous: no if you don't eat it :)

  • dude where do i buy some sodium acetate thats not online? i got to use it for my science fair project due monday!

  • THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS VIDEO IS THAT I'VE MADE SODIUM ACETATE AT HOME!!!!

    Watch it and make some!!!!!

  • is it reusable after it melts?

  • yes

  • yeh yeh just boil it and bingo it becomes liquid again oh goody for me I watched the video. See I was paying attention.

  • a better formula is 500 ml of vinegar and 32 grams of baking soda ... mix with 500 ml of already boiling pure water and let evaporate till a bunch of big crystals are left the filter melt the crystals freeze then ready to go

  • FOR ALL OF THOSE WHO USED A HEAT PACK FOR THIS EXPERIMENT...

I was just wondering what spacific brand of hand warmers (heat packs) will need to be used in order to make this experiment possable. I noticed that different brands use different ingrediants. Thanks in advance :)

  • where do i get sodium acetate?

  • make it!

  • you can make it????? cool how???

    im gunna look it up

  • oh lol it says in the vid

  • Great song finally!! du hast by rammstein

  • i'd freeze my finger in it

  • its actually more like the consistancy of a slushy. not very strong

  • If it's very concentrated, it's solid and hard. Not you can crush it very easily.

  • where can u buy sodium acetat?

  • when you do the touching thingy and it freezes, can it melt???

  • what?

  • Can you melt hot ice and if is a yes, HOW CAN YOU MELT IT???

  • You must heat it. :) Put the cup into a bowl of boiling water.

  • Is the solid hard enough to drill into and the screw can't be pulled out?

  • No.

  • watts last song name???

  • Prodigy - Smack my bitch up.

  • Du hast- Rammstein

  • what happens if your finger is in it while it becomes solid?

  • you can pull it out :)

  • Man can you please explain me the entire process, I tried one time but it failed...please !

  • How long does it stay frozen

  • until you melt it ;)

  • the entire process please !

  • lol my aunt buy one bag for my grand mother inside have a metal like a coin shape when i prees on 2 sides it will become what u did and it is also yello inside

  • CAN U TOUCH IT WITH YOUR HANDS?

  • yes... but it's possible that nothing will happen (the reaction will not start).. or.. it will start the reaction... depends

  • Love the song, Rammstein is my favorite german band lol.

  • lol i tried this and i put a little army man so it will get stuck

  • wow i need to try that :)

  • and thanky to my bird, to the cat i accidetly killed yerstaday lol

  • you dont need vinegar to make it you know.

  • As I've showed in the second formula.. You don't need vinegar. But that's true ONLY if you have acetic acid!

  • can u send me the indgredients and wat grade lv is this?

  • i mixed the white vinegar and baking soda. The same amount you said and boiled it till a straw like color appeared in the pan. So then i let it cool for Five minutes and took it out and touched it but no freeze. Then i cooled for 5 more minutes and took it out and had a couple of crystals in the botom but when touch again no freeze. Just a couple of crystals floating around. What did i do wrong

  • if crystals start forming... and that's it.. then boil some more... a little more :)

  • freeze it for 2 hours

  • it's: Du Hasst - Rammstein

  • did u use a tooth pick or ur finger?

  • whats the name of this song

  • wow 0.o

  • i heard you can buy it easy online .

  • yhea 500g of it for like $16 plus shipping is like $10

  • so wait all you need it sodium acetate wich im making now and water and bowl then just touch it and it turns to ice

  • kick ass were can i get sodium acetate i herd you can get it from hand wameres

  • Yes.. you can get it from hand wameres too... but.. where I live.. there aren't any :)

  • will it turn into water agin,or it will be freeze for a long time, its very difficulp to make soduim acetate in home, can you explain me an easier form tan drying than drying vinagreer

  • After it has solidified... it can be melted by heating it. To make sodium acetate at home.. is not difficult.. but you just need the right vinegar and make the right concentration.

  • cool men,,but where we can buy a sodium acetate????thanks to your grl frend ur family your cat your hamster your brain your time your mobile phone your computer your digital camera and thanks to your effort..

  • I have no idea from where to buy it. That's why I've made it at home :)

  • you can make it by combining baking soda and vinegar until the solution is completely neutral.

  • can you eat the ice

  • No.. it's toxic
