@TyranusForte If sad, dark, dreamy modern guitar bands are what you're after, then you might like Low, Lilies on Mars, Howling Bells, and Warpaint (none of which are shoegaze bands).

@BaronvonWasteland1 well I know low and warpaint. and I do like shoegaze somewhat. but what true widows does with it I just adore. I'm not saying it has a whole lot of merit but the way they combine doom/stoner rock with the glazed out dream pop songs, it just speaks to me a lot more than say My Bloody Vallentine and so on..

@TyranusForte I said the same thing. My best friend loves shoegaze but sometimes its boring because the note choice isn't as intense as grunge or doom. I like this hybrid of the two.
