My heart aches terribly and there is that terrible lump in my throat , whenever I listen to this heart rending song . It's really one of the best ever created !
Talat saabs rendition of this song, combined with the Bimal da's amaznig picturization makes this probably the most heart wrenchingly sad song of hindi movies and manages to capture the pathos of the main protagonist of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyaya's immortal classic like no other. Absolute classic, and an absolute classic even 40 years after it was made
Kudrat ke karesmey hai. Hum kimatwalle hain ke ek aiye vatan me janme, jahan ke fiyaon aur hawaaon me sangeet hi sangeet hai. laken yeh nagma ruhanee daen hai.the whole team created a masterpiece and we are lucky, we are here to appreciate Talat sahib
i agree that this is a claasic gem and reaches out to the soul and makes you speechless and tearful . an immortal masterpiece .incomparable. shahrukh's devdas is too glamorous and full of overacting with mutilated dialouges and story.
This movie captured the emotion and had the soul which did justice to the great classic. But I remember, my father loved the KL Saigal version and he though the Dilip K version could not touch the emotion of KL Saigal!
Dilp as Devdas committed a grave mistake by writing a letter to Paro about impossibility of their marriage due to family biases, but lter he realised the mistake. But alas everthing was wsted as Paro was wed to a rich old man. Devdas was devastated, the song by Talat always makes me cry. Indeed so powerful is the composition of S.D.Burman. Bimal Roy the late director has produced such a masterpiece which is a treasure for coming generations.
Unlike Sanjay L Bhansali, Bimal Roy did not mutilate the story or the spirit of the novel. This song was to be compared with K. L. Saigal's classic in the same situation. When the film was released, 'Screen' has comments by other top composers like Naushad, Shankar Jaikishen, O. P. Nayyar, Salil Choudhary etc. hailing this song as no less than Saigal's. Hats off to Sachinda, Sahir, Talat and of course, Bimal Roy !
wait yaar ..there is two verisons of this movie b4 sanjay's? wow and to think i was only alive to c his ..i love the songs in this ..this is by Bimal Roy ?

This song reaches your soul and reminds you of lost love that you can never get back. There is nothing worse than having to love and lost.

Dilipkumar's has not acted as Devdas, he was the Devdas of Sharadbabu. Thanks to Bimalda for the creation.

The old Classic Devdas in black and white is more realistic and a superb collection.
Thanks for sharing.
