just unlocked my 9700 from orange, was told if i put an orange sim into the phone it would be blocked from orange and rendered useless. is this true?

no. as long you not report your phone lost or stolen, orange will not block you

This worked for me on my BB Bold 9700. Was locked to Vodafone. Now I can use it with my O2 sim.
