I have an 04 Silverado 1500 I did all the steps but after I cycled through the ignition twice the doors locked and unlocked then a couple sec later the doors locked and unlocked again and after holding the buttons for 15 sec the truck did nothing and the remote never programmed itself to the truck can u tell me what it's doing or what I need to do to fix it
@stydel311 Yes you can. what you do is take both keys to a place that has an older(cheaper) manual key cutter. have them cut one side of the key for one car and the other side for the other car. then the key will work in both cars however it will only work when you have it inserted in the correct direction. no locksmith required.
I switched out my lock/window panels with wood grain denali panels. The dealership quoted me 30-100 bucks to reprogram my fobs. This was months ago. So I've been without keyless entry. For some reason, today I decided to search on doing it myself. Thanks for the video. I now have my keyless entry back!!!!
I've got a 2003 silverado 2500 and I just got my remote in the mail. I followed the instructions but the remote did not program. When I held down the unlock button and cycled through the ignition twice the doors locked and unlocked just like in the video but then a couple seconds later they locked and unlocked again and the horn beeped as well. I tried programming the remote but the doors never locked/unlocked to let me know the remote was programmed. Your thoughts???
I have a 04 pontiac montana and the unlock and lock button on my driver side does not work. Is there another way to program the remote besides using those buttons?
well this is kool can yo do the same for a Ford 03 Pickup ? I try this method and it did not work :-( is there another way to do two remotes ? please email me at johpyr@gmail.com and thanks to all people here :-) john....
Thank you so much for sharing this descriptive video. Key less entry is indeed beneficial because it discards the old idea of carrying too many keys which can be quite cumbersome.
this is great. I am going to try it with my remote that for some reason stopped unlockiing my car, but still works to pop the trunk. How can I get ahold of a couple of remotes?
@lauriel51 Try Googling "Keyless Entry Remote" or type in the numbers found on the back of your key fob to try to find the model number. If you find it online it will be much cheaper than the dealer price, if you like Ebay you might find it even cheaper.
Was wondering how would it effect the key flobs if you have memory seating, when you get them with the truck you get flobs marked 1 & 2 for the memory seating.
@Shipmode It should work fine with memory seats. The first two fobs you program should be memory one and two. I have no idea what happens to the next two as you should be able to program up to four key fobs for remote entry however I think there are only two memory seats.
LOLOLOL i saw toyotas reprogramming process and its hilarious. I always wondered how buying a remote online would make it work for your car. That means i now have an excuse to buy a fancy remote that does all the things my remote already does
MMM... I wonder if kids are going to try this with their parents key fobs and mess with their friends parents cars while their at the park. hehe. Oh just a thought I had after viewing this cool vid. Thanks
This doesnt make sense. If the key lock u have for car 1 is reprogrammed to car 2 car how does it still open car 1 if it was "reprogrammed" for car 2? Am I the only one who doesnt understand this.
@gamerplay The key fob is static and does not receive any programming. You are actually programming the vehicle to accept the key fob. Repeat the same exact procedure I show in the video on any additional vehicles you want to accept that fob.
@filear I understand now but like others are saying. If you unlock one so you could get in and drive away, the other is unlocked also and if you try to re-lock it you will put the alarm on, on your car.
so wait, i go to leave, unlock both cars and drive off in one car with the other car now left unlocked on the driveway. because surely if you try to lock the one left on the driveway as you leave, you'll also lock the one you're sitting in.

those are 04-06 silverado's. they do use the two same key fob's. but on some models with personal setting my not work. all 07- present silverado's can not do this. and you need GM's scanner to program.
Essentially the remote just has a unique identifying serial number that it broadcasts along with the command like unlock or lock. It is the vehicle that you program to accept the remote. You can use a single remote with multiple vehicles.
does this work with 2003 chevy impala

so can you get 1 ignition key to work on both?
stydel311 3 months ago
@stydel311 That would require a locksmith, dunno if it is possible but would be cool.
filear 3 months ago
@stydel311 Yes, it could be done, but you would have to have a locksmith completely rekey one of the trucks to fit the other truck's key.

@mancreep Yes, all the remotes are ment to do that. You can set remotes to as much vehicle as you want.
