I've been looking for this movie for years!! I remember watching it as a child, and though I forgot about it for a while, parts of it started to turn up in my dreams and I've been searching ever since. Not quite as bad a case as Watership Down, but really a huge relief to have found it. Thanks for making it available here. :)
I think it is simply a metaphor representing that "special something" that exists in each and every one of us. And sometimes, some of us can lose that something and not realize it. It gets lost deep inside us. Inside the confusing and dangerous tunnels of our minds eye. Sometimes we can feel like we are walking blindly trying to find something we let disappear and harden within ourselves. And though we don't all triumph... Those that do, find the greatest rewards in life! Thank you so much!
This is the best movie you can ever give to your kids. Teach them how to love life without lying to them. The world's out there, but it isn't going to spill out right in front of you. You need to grab it.
And then be awesome and sing something incredibly catchy.
last time i watched this film was when i was 6 or 7 and now i'm 19 turnin 20 but i've also had vivid memories about this film for year and couldn't remember the name of this film but i found out about 2 hours ago and i watched it twice ^^ i missed this film soooo much
Nice! I just all of a sudden remember this on my way home from work today but couldn't remember the name only that it had something to do with an ant that lost his butt lol so I used the goggle and typed in old ant cartoon movie :D I only seen it once in my whole life until now, the story of this just stuck out in my head .
Thank you so much for uploading this movie! I used to have it on VHS, but I don't know what happened to the tape. I've been looking for this for ages and it was great seeing it again. :)
Oh thank you so much for uploading this, it truly made me feel good watching it, made me forget I was an adult leading the adult things in life. You know the responsiblities and obeying your life orders.
Wow! This film does bring back memories from my childhood.
I was always trying to figure out the title of this and many others from the late 1980's. I really am elated at finding this film at last after searching through google and other search engines for this nostalgic yet nearly forgotten film.
I saw a segment of this when I was a kid. I had no idea what on earth I was watching or the name of it, but that "gallavantin gimme some more" line always stuck in my head. For like a decade it's been in my head and I never knew until now where it came from. haha
did you see a clip from this version of the song, or from when Gally sings it earlier in the film?
I prefer Gally's version. Shando doesn't have a wide enough vocal spectrum. Some of the notes need to be sung higher or lower than he can obviously hit, or be held longer than he holds them, and Gally hits and holds them all. Really the song wasn't written to be sung by a guy. Not Shando's (or should I say his V-actor's) problem, it's the song
It's sad that "Gallavants" is forgotten by our 21st century generation while they're picking up "Transformers" and "The Smurfs" but being born in the late '80s I'm glad I remember this. I watched it a lot of it when I had the video tape of it. If this film is available on DVD, I'm more likely to find it online.
The main "Gallavants" theme reminds me a lot of the "Rocky" theme...how odd.
Good lord, I had forgotten this movie existed entirely, but as I was watching it, I started remembering...pretty much everything. o.o Talk about a nostalgia trip...
holy CRAP. i saw this movie on TV when i was 5 and it haunted me for years, no joke. i think the whole thing about the lost crystallized egg is the source of a lot of my childhood traumas. thank you so much for posting it so i know i didn't imagine the whole thing!!!!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one that was freaked out by the crystallized egg as a kid! I thought for years I had dreamed it or something, since no one else had a clue what I was talking about.
@attackamazon That part bothered me too. Now I take it to believe that it always was and is meant to be his kubump, just for whatever reasons he had to find it unlike the other ants. Still weird....

Still Gally's version is much better.

THANK YOU! THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUU!
I watched this as a child...a neighbour gave me the VHS tape that she recorded this on.
And I had to throw it away when we bought a vcd player instead. I've been trying to track down all the old cartoons I used to watch as a child...
