  • Anthem for Reagan's America. This was one of the first CDs I ever bought. The closest thing to Jefferson Airplane the 80s ever got. Classic tune.

On 10/7/2011, no one disliked America.

  • I have this on vinyl.

I thought I was their only fan.

  • I have this on vinyl.

  • Great song. One the best

  • GREAT song and a GREAT video. ESPECIALLY today - 9/11/11

Thank you so much for sharing!

  • Wow. I've never found another person (that I personally know) who's heard of the KBC band. I try and try and try to explain their pedigree (Kantner, Balin, Casady), but no one gets it. Thanks for posting!

Just wish the audio was better.

  • @1ExtraChrispy1 I have been looking for this video/song for years. I agree the audio could be better but I'm too stoked just to see it again.

  • america the home of the right wing gready SOBs...lets all have a nice sweet tea party..LOL..wishin U a super blessed day yall

  • @amosjordan : If you can't even spell 'greedy' correctly, then it's no wonder how wrong you are with your beliefs. Tea Party activists/adherents/believers are not 'greedy'. They believe that we shouldn't be deficit-spending $1.5T/year for the 4th year in a row of it now. The federal govt needs to get smaller than $3.7T/yr spending. That's greedy, to want that?

  • Thanks for sharing that, and being accessible Tim.

  • love this video and time lapsed photography

  • I paid $87 to have my album made into a CD. I will pay anything to have my collection complete! Have gone through vinyl, cassettes and now CD's. Paul Kantner, it's not been inexpensive!! Complete Slick/Kantner library is an absolute must!! Thanks for putting this song on here. Now I'm looking for Mariel. =))

  • Thanks, been looking for this. I could remember talking back in the day how this was a beautiful video.

  • Saw the Airplaine in '90 at Berkley. They played this one. Fucking amazing.

Grace stopped the music at one point and said "I know you're all frying on acid". Th place went wild.

Best light show. From the concert, up to the lights of the city, on the bay, to the stars above.

    It was magic.

  • Thanks for putting this up here Tim!

  • I've been looking for this video for such a long time, THANK YOU!! This is an excellent album, pure 80's.

  • It was 1988. They wanted to build a McDonald's at the end of Haight Street. There was a big protest rally against it. I was there with a few friends.

Who pulls up in his car to see what's going on? Paul Kantner. We rapped with him for a few minutes. He said it was the right thing to do because all the Haight Street businesses began as someone's dream and giant corporations really had no business here. He would've stuck around longer but said he had to get ready for a KBC show :) :)

  • Great song and nice to see the video again. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for writing back ! Glad your enjoying my old archives .

  • Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear this. What a superb album this was. I paid $85 to have it put onto a CD. Well, it was well worth it to me. Thanks for posting it.

  • incredible

  • I had always liked this song since it appeared on MTV in the late 80's. Liked the song, but liked it even more so with the accompanying video. I started looking for it again in the late 90s but was always searching for Jefferson Airplane/Starship (the Kantner/Balin vocals are very distinctive) so I would come up empty. It was only about 5 years ago that I finally found the song by searching for lyrics and phrases and found it by the KBC Band.

  • I loved this video in '87 when i was 13, MTV played it all the time! I especially loved that they showed a lot of Pittsburgh.....my home town!

  • I remember this video and song from when I was a kid. I always liked the song, but I never knew who did it until last Spring (2009) when I did a Google search. I swore for a while the only people who knew this song existed were the folks at MTV, and me. I remembered only the opening lyrics: Sing a song of America.

Problem is, there are millions of songs with the title "America." I bought the LP from ebay in May 2009.

  • No doubt the best video ever made!

  • @jjj11330 Hi and thanks for viewing . I've been going thru my archives and have found some interesting projects I was involved in . I remember the day PK brought the first draft to rehearsal and he had six pages of single spaced lyrics . A little editing followed . TG

  • @jjj11330 Just a great video. I wish it would have gotten more airplay when it was first releashed. I have to second that it might be the est video EVER!

  • I love the way Kantner's and Balin's vocals harmonize so well here! The song should've gotten much more respect when released! My only beef is that there is too much praise for leftist groups like the German Greens.

  • Been Googling that song for awhile. I wondered where I would see it again. Thanks for posting. That was a great song at a time it was needed. We were just coming out of the "Carter years". The whole country was down.

I thought I remembered the music as a little better - I think the video portion is what made it so great.

  • bless you for posting this, been waiting for years.

  • Good song. Paul Kanter, Marty Balin and jack Cassidy. audio could be better, but other then that , good job.

  • I've always loved this song.

  • Glad to see this video again. I wish the audio was a little better.

  • I have watched this video just once about 25 years ago and wanted watching this once again. Thanks for posting. I can watch finally. God bless America !
