I was fortunate enough to view the yosemite Firefall in the early '60's & trust me it was utterly magical! I see no reason they can't have Firefall ceremonies on summer weekends. BTW the embers burn out hundreds of feet above the valley floor so it never presented a fire hazard.
The Park Sevice did something really hurtful by totally eliminating this historical & emotionally sublime tradition.
Same here brodier. We didn't have much but husband kids and friends would go up to Yosemite we would hike or drive around looking at all the beautiful scenery. We would see bears and other animals. Then around 9:pm we would wait for the firefall tocome down Beautiful in person
to Bad They don't do the fire fall anymore it makes me feel sad that I could of saw it back then but At Least My Dad saw it so doesn't matter I'm Happy I have the movie so I can watch anytime
We were a family of 7 kids and somewhat poor. But most summers we packed up the station wagon and all of us went to Yosemite. It was so special. I don't remember alot but I do remember the bears, bugs, trees camping out, getting dirty and of course the firefall. My father would Morse Code to the top each night with his flashlight and get answers back the same way. What a joy it was. I miss my parents so much but this kind of video makes me so very, very happy and nostalgic.... :o)
