My mother has on the most part come to terms with going blind at 40. She's had to quit her job. Things are hard. This song always makes her cry. I don't play this song anymore.
I was watching an old CM episode (The Last Word) when I heard this song, I recognized her voice immediately even though I'd never heard this particular song.
I love it whenever I find a Regina Spektor song that I didn't know about before, get so excited. <3 The only artist I will never get tired of.

When she paused for a second, I closed out of my screen, totally ready to rewind it so I could listen again.

The instrument accompanying piano, does that sound like a kyoku or a keyboard setting? Or maybe a shakuhachi? I'm trying to figure out..
