  • If you believe in god, then he makes miracles in your life. God bless you BOB and Sue Mackey.

  • very touching it made me want to cry

  • Bless you, Trooper. What a wonderful gift you are giving us, just as you gave to those different people on past Christmas Eves.

  • god bless you sir!

  • VERY VERY INTRESTING HOW THINGS COME BACK 360 DEGREES. I TRUELY LOVE THIS STORY.MAY GOD BLESS OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS.I KNOW HE HAS ME

  • Oh my god i got the goose bumps at the end. god bless you for sharing

  • Sir, to simply say "Thank you" for your lifetime of public service can not come close to how I feel for what you have given to us, but I have no other words to say. I wish one day I could meet you and shake your hand. again, Thank you!

  • God Bless you, Bob Welsh, and all you who who serve and protect us. God

    Bless you Trooper Sue McKay!

1Th 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

  • would be nice to hear that california had police of that caliber-

  • My dad was a GA trooper in the 70s & 80s, and I can relate--he was never home on the holidays. He was one of the really good troopers also. Rather than tickets, he'd give warnings. He'd pull over to let the traffic by because the drivers were afraid to pass a State Patrol. So when you pass a trooper, don't be scared, be grateful that they are out there riskinig their own lives to protect you and yours. God bless my Daddy--they don't make 'em like him any more.

  • Excellent!!!!!

  • Such a moving poem. My son is a police officer with a heart of gold also. I am so very proud of him.

  • Nice story, and what a high quality for the sound and video. Great job, and thanks to Bob for the story! He's a good story teller.

  • 42 people have no hearts.

  • Thanks so much, Bob and Sue.

I lost my wife just over eight years ago now, and I still remember the wonderful Indiana State Trooper who was there to help me when my truck had broken down on the interstate the day before I was to bury my wife, who had just died from cancer.

He not only helped me, but he prayed for me and my family at that incredibly dark time.

I haven't forgotten, and neither has my family, nor will we ever.

  • Such a blessing to watch. I have sent this video to all my friends. They all loved it. It makes me want to cry and laugh all at once. God Bless you Bob. I wish you were my friend. :)

  • I was sobbing out loud by the end of the video! What a wonderful man you are, Trooper Bob Welsh! You and all the other troopers, including Trooper Sue McKay, MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THE BETTER! Thank you for being there for all of us, and may God bless you all, always, with every great gift from Above! p.s. You are a natural with poetry and public speaking! I'll bet children love to see you!

  • Wow! You gave me goose bumps! Thank you for your message.

  • Bless you, Bob Welsh and Trooper Sue Mc Kay! This brought tears to my eyes... and to all those who serve and protect us. Thank You.

  • During my career, as a Trooper, I once ticketed a driver for excessive speeding, he was very upset and expressed his ill feelings for me. Several years later, I was tasked to deliver a death notice to the mother of a fatality victim. During my visit, her husband arrived and to my surprise, the father was the aforementioned motorist. I wanted to be anywhere else but there. It was very hard for me to remain professional and not display my heartfelt sadness. "Hand Salute to all first responders."

  • I cried. Thank you for this video.

  • Wise!

  • thumbs up if you had the chillz by the end of the video.... i know i did! Thank You Bob Welsh

  • Wow. That was really good.

  • The Troopers are our last line of defense...we need them and we need to respect and Thank them for all they do.

Of course I don't like to be pulled over but we all have a job to do.

    Thanks Bob Welsh.

  • Thanks Tooper!

  • You are the gift.

  • @diggin63 way to add to the wonderful story.

  • Thank you Trooper Walsh! Its long past Christmas now but as Dickens observed in Christmas Carol, the meaning of Christmas is meant to be lived 365 days of the year. As a Canadian fan of the great USA, I salute all the state troopers who serve with that spirit!

  • All i can say is WOW!! what a feeling that must be to change the life of one..

  • This was excellent and love the way he has with words

  • wow, I sure can relate to this, after 30+ years as a cop

  • Simply wonderful and inspiring ! Thank you. I'll pass it on to others.

  • Wow!

  • Mr. Welsh just want you to know how you touched the life of my son who is a Maine State Trooper the night I e-mailed this video to him. His response to me was Mom I needed that, oh so true, sometimes just get caught up in all the crap that comes with this job,we forget that we many times affect peoples lives. Often I look past it, and don't realize how we can impact peoples lives. Guess I need to thank "GOD" for where he has put me!!! A thankful Maine Troopers Mom!!!

  • I want to thank you for this very encouraging video, I have a son who is a Maine State Trooper and he was very encouraged by your Video when I e-maled it to him!!

  • So we've got time to learn about those with whom we sit. It only takes a minute or three or maybe more, to learn exactly what your life may have in store. Is there anyone out there who really wants to know about the roads I've taken and where I was bound to go? The days grow hot and heavy and it really isn't fair that people walk around me and not many of them care.

  • Nights lay quiet and solemn, and stillness fills the air; my heart beats a steady rhythm, does anyone really care? Is there anyone out there who really gives a damn what I say and think and do or who I really am? Life goes on around me as people hustle through taking care of business and leaving right on cue. Nothing seems to matter to this world in which I live except the almighty dollar and what I have to give. I think it's time to slow our pace, if only a little bit.

  • thank you ,,,,, my son is police officer,, i hope he can touch one Sue McKay at least once in his career,,,

  • @Colt6Shooter It is a poem...he is a poet/storyteller who inspires others with his talent & gifts...

  • @colt6shooter NC troopers in wadesoboro nc and in charlotte nc my sister, Patti and Susan at different times through the years.

  • Wow..... Stopped me in my tracks. One of the most beautiful stories I've ever heard. God bless you troopers!!

  • This is beautiful! So many people no longer have a good opinion of police officers and state troopers -- although they are some of the most delightful humans on the planet. I know how hard they work and how often they help others. This brought tears to my eyes. Thank you to all who have served in any capacity in the state and local departments throughout the country. Yours is a most appreciated service by most people.

  • Not shabby at all.

    Old Retired LEO

  • We NEVER know the impact that one loving act has on us ALL! I am grateful for you all.

  • Well Bob Welsh, you don't leave a dry eye here. Bless you and God bless all the officer's that keep watch and lend a helping hand.

  • What a beautiful heart warming poem.

  • Simply Beautiful!!

  • I love it

  • what a beautiful story. enjoyed it very much!

  • Thanks to troopers and police (men & women) everywhere for all they do every day across the USA. Their service is often thankless, dangerous, and emotionally & physically draning. I honor you all

  • Such a touching story, warms my heart.

  • Moving.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • How can there possibly be 'dislikes' for this story from Bob Welsh. Must be some cold hearts!

  • Whoa!!! Dreams do come true!

  • I AM A RETIRED RN AND PRAY DAILY FOR THOSE WHO SERVE US, POLICE, FIREMAN, SERVICEMAN, MEDICAL PERSONEL, TEACHERS, AND FARMERS. WE WORK ON HOLIDAYS AND HAVE TOUCHING STORIES TO TELL. I WAS AN ICU, ER NURSE AND SAW MANY HEROIC PATIENTS AND FAMILIES WHO GAVE JOY AND TRUE GRATITUDE BACK . "THANK YOU, NURSE, YOU ARE AN ANGEL." IT WAS AN HONOR TO SERVE AND CARE FOR MY LORD JESUS, THE CHRIST.

  • What a talent for speaking. Enjoyed every minute of this video. Without those who serve and protect us, life would not be an enjoyable one. We should pray for these people every day.

  • God Bless you, Bob Welsh, and all you who who serve and protect us. God

    Bless you Trooper Sue McKay!

  • Bless his heart! May God bless you and be with you and your family

  • I work in retail, where is not important. I just wanted to say that when I wait on a customer who is obviously a veteran I make sure to thank him or her for whatever they may have done to keep this country free. Some look at me puzzled but most just smile and go on their way. Let's never be too busy in our own lives to forget to thank those who gave some and especially to those who gave all to protect this land. God Bless You All.

  • AWESOME. My son also works in law enforcement prayers go up for him and the others daily. God bless you all and keep you safe.

  • Wonderful story. God bless you retired Trooper Bob Welsh. Makes it all worth it.

  • I want to thank you for this beautiful story...it touched my heart...and also many thanks to all our state troopers for doing all they can to keep us safe...God Bless all of you...

  • That was Beautiful! You touch my heart!

  • The Love of Christmas told by Bob Welsh is bittersweet.....but so Beautiful and warms your heart~God Bless!

  • Wow, this was so touching. I'm still crying as I type. God Bless you Bob Welsh!

  • It isn't often that we get to see the affect we have on other people's lives. It is such a blessing when like Bob recalls in such an eloquent way the positive effect he had on the girl who would become Trooper Sue McKay.

  • As a former state trooper, retired military officer, and current Deputy Sheriff, I can relate closely to what Bob Welsh is saying. And I'm not ashamed to admit it, his video did bring a tear to my eye. One rarely gets to see the results of the good deeds you do in this job, but occasionally you discover, often by accident, that you had a profound effect on someone's life, perhaps even saving it. Those few times make it all worthwhile. Thanks, Bob, for your service and your continued support!

  • @deputy1952 That's true, we rarely get to see the results of someone we've helped when we've been a "Vessel of The Lord", and when we do discover something later on in life... it's not "by accident"... it's a Blessing; aka: "God-incidence". May he Bless all those who Protect and Serve, for we know it's "not for the money", it's the service God calls us to do.

  • As an Army vet, and a Police officer of 32 years, now 11 years retired, I had a hard time not shedding a tear. This was one I could relate too. Thanks Bob.

  • @MrWalt66 I just want to say "thank you" for your service as a veteran and police officer.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all my Friends and all others who serve us daily, it's sometimes easy to take your efforts for granite.. THANK YOU EVERYDAY..

  • Oh Wow!!! How awesome is this??? Every little thing we do, there is a reason for it.

  • Absolutely wonderful. Not only his compassion and the outcome, but so beautifully told. He has a definite talent for poetry.

  • What a beautiful Christmas message. This gentleman has touched so many hearts and lives. I am proud to add my family and me to the list. God bless you, Bob.

    A friend from Maryland

  • A wonderful message and beautifully delivered Thank you, Bob, for your great service to America.

  • that was beautiful.

  • WOW WHAT A BEAUTIFUL STORY TOLD BY A GREAT STORY TELLER......WOWSER ! ! ! !

  • Keep up the good work. Very well done.

  • Thank you for sharing. Thanks...

  • Thank you for that wonderful part of your many experiences as a state trooper.

I'll be saving this one to send out right before Christmas 2012.

Thank you to all who serve and protect.

  • I lost two wonderful sons to a drunk driver years ago. I still vividly remember the knock on the door and the compassion of the police officer. I actually felt sorry for him knowing the devastating message he had to deliver. I was alone and I know I just sat there and went into shock. He stayed with me until my wife and daughter returned from shopping. My heart goes out to anyone who has to deliver such messages.

  • Amazing! Brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful thank you and what an amazing man!

  • Brought a tear to the eye of this ol' 27 year retired Texas State Trooper... Moving...

  • Not only is this heart felt, but to make this all rhyme and remember all of what is said is awesome in itself.

  • Wow.

  • Very Touching Wow......Thank you to all who serve & protect

  • I was very touched by this Video ,, God Bless and a big Thank you to all who keep us safe, no matter where in the world they serve

  • "I sent my son on a rescue mission which cost him his life. Furthermore, everyone he was sent to rescue, killed him, because they were angry that he told them they needed to be rescued from themselves. Later, some realized what he was really doing for them, and that it was still not too late to be rescued by my son. Will you stop fighting him, and let him rescue you?" - God

  • @porkyfedwell Very well put! And SO true! Thank you for sharing!

  • I had a Trooper save my life on october 8 1999, I don't know his name

So i want to say Thank you to all Washington state Troopers ..

  • I always tell my son (a homicide detective sergeant) "You are doing the Lord's work". God Bless each & every one of you!!. Thank You for all you do for your fellow citizens...

  • What a beautiful video and I also want to thank all those who serve and protect. Theirs is not an easy job. Thank you and God Bless

  • @suelonm Totally agree with you!

  • God bless all those who keep us safe in this country, our policemen, firemen, state troopers, army, navy air force, and marines.

  • Thought this was worth sharing.

  • Thanks to the one that posted this video, it shows thatt even though life can be bitterly hard at time, there are times that make you feel it's worth it for the lifes you touch. Thankyou too, to the talented story teller Bob, for sharing his story with us.

  • Ten months ago an officer came to my door. They had found my only son and this has been the first Christmas we have had to celebrate with my son waiting for us in heaven. Thank you so much for your comforting words. God Bless

  • May God bless and keep you!

    All the best to you.

  • A very moving video

  • My Son just called me from washington so we could share this, watching at the same time and shedding a tear. We are both retired sargeants, US Army with a total of 46 years of service. We have seen many acts, such as Bobs' and know what a really caring person he is. Thanks Bob

  • This video brought tears to my eyes. God bless this man for his years of service.

  • As a native Buckeye and a guy who failed the visual acuity exam to join the OHP in 1956, I salute you for this outstanding piece of real world prose. I entered law enforcement and security in the Air Force and saw many of these same good deeds from our troops. I thank this fine officer for his work, for his message and inspiration. Ed Johnson, Colonel, USAF (ret)

Security Forces, United States Air Force 29+ years.

  • very nice...very moving

  • Amen, Jesus!

  • I would like you to know that you warmed my heart to the utmost point. I have shared your video with my customers and co workers all day and just shared it with husband of someone who works for the Ohio State Highway patrol who wanted me to send it to their mail. I truly enjoyed your video and thank you for sharing such a heartfelt moment.

  • What talent. I really enjoyed this story. God bless you. Bon.

  • Thanks for sharing God Bless,

  • I spent a lot of time in the back of cop cars in my youth, sometimes for just being in the wrong place, with the wrong crowd, or living on the wrong side of the tracks. It left some scars and I still think of the bad situations that left a bitter taste in my mouth, but I always remind myself that for every bad cop out there there are angels among them that gave me a ride home when I should have gone to jail; gave a homeless boy a chance to do right and make the right decisions God Bless.

  • God Bless all troopers and officers across America who still do their jobs like that. We need you, not the ones that have a different approach.

  • Not only is the story a real blessing, but the poetry is great as well. Good rhyme and meter, unlike most so-called poetry today. May his tribe increase.

  • Thats so moving. I once gave a ride to a hitch hiker. He wore jeans and a tee shirt and it was like zero. Looking back I realized I should have given him my coat. The poor kid would have frozed to death. I hope he is ok now.

  • @MrCowboyJesus Thank you to all of you who have picked up a cold hitch hiker! My son hitched across the country, and has told me of people like you who picked him up when it was rainy and cold, fed him, gave him a place to stay, or just shared some conversation with him- and how much he appreciated each person who gave of him-or-herself to help a stranger. You are a good person!

  • I worked law enforcement on many Christmas Eves. Seeing this video I now recall all the rides I gave to strangers walking on cold winter nights; talking to people who just needed to be treated with kindness and respect and were all alone or down on their luck.

  • I only wish that I could have made a difference in someones like like this during my career. Id say you should rest very easy at night.

  • Matthew 5:9

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

  • Thank you for sharing...love it.

  • Amazing!

  • Thanks to one of the men who serve and on whom we rely to help us endure the sorrows of life and, thank God, enjoy enough redeeming pleasure from their hard work to keep them going. Verse from the heart...to the heart. Well done!

  • Great Post Bob from a Sgt of the NJ State Police

  • Very nice!

  • this really touched me thanks for putting it on and showed me how much i have to be grateful for. who on earth would dislike this?!

  • What a wonderful story. How lucky you are to know this man. Thank you for making this.

  • Speechless.... Thank you, Bob.

  • Thank you for an inspiring story that mirrors the careers of so many police officers across North America. Many of my peers in the RCMP across Canada can relate so well to simalar situations where you had to do NOK's..many times alone..and the look on the faces of family members and their reactions ,you never forget that........probably the worst job any police officer can do especially during the Holiday Season.....Holiday greetings to all....

  • Thank you Bob for that. It brought tears to this old retired Police Chief's eyes. May God bless you..

  • I Love When Good Story's Come FULL Circle. :-}

  • Ran out of space.Thank you Bob for wonderfully reciting these memories in a heartfelt manner.

    Retired Sheriff's Captain

  • Bob's poignant memories brought to life. A Christmas Eve I handled a hostage situation and nearly shot a drugged young man armed with an M-1. He shot up the victim’s home and terrorized two women and a baby he was holding. Just before he laid the rifle down he shot at me but missed. Somehow I wrestled him to the floor. Today he's good man.OR a Christmas Eve fatality headon crash with young bodies strewn among newly wrapped pesents and the smell of gas, oil and anti-freeze, yes I have memories.

  • Thanks for your story of how great a person you are.

  • Thanks Bob and God Bless you.

  • I have been on both sides. The sky pretty well stays grey now. My nephew is in the running for OHP school, glad to pass the job onto a very good young man.

  • Awesome!! Thank you for sharing!

  • Great story! Very heart warming. Do you have a brother or relative named Jack Welsh? I knew a Jack Welsh that was a N.H. State Trooper before becoming a UMSC Cobra pilot. Jack and I went to flight school in Pensacola FL. in 1979. Would love to reconnect with Jack. Best Regards,

    Steve Bisson USMC 1979-1985.

  • I have had to deliver these messages many times.......at times you catch them falling and at times you catch their fists.

  • Excellent. He is a tribute to his profession..

  • Amazing story.. Thank you and have a safe and prosperous new year... God bless

  • Very touching. Thank you!

  • How beautiful what a wonderful story and so well composed in rhyme.

  • A wonderful story. It sometimes amazes me how an act of kindness can come back and reward you with God Blessings in many ways. I have seen it many times.

  • I love this! Is it true or just an example of what happens?

  • Thank you!

  • "as ye sow......."

    Chagres

    Panama City, Panama

  • oh my God what a beautiful person you are!

  • This is so True and so beautiful

  • Nice !

  • Beautiful, just beautiful

  • Thank you all that serve. Know you are greatly appreciated as well as respected.

  • Years ago, a two car accident in the evening killed both parents of a 16 yr old girl. She was at a high school dance. That death notification still gives me nightmares years later. I can still see her face. Sometimes it's a thankless job. I'm glad he got some thanks back. Lt. detective Bert S, (retired deputy sheriff)

  • great

  • A dear old secretary still keeps in touch with my husband and me. She once told me a homily I'll never forget: bread spread upon the water usually comes back as angel food cake.

  • Outstanding! thank you for uploading. Mr. Welsh has a wonderful gift of talent.

  • bob welsh, what a trooper,

  • Thank you for this heartfelt beautiful message this time of year. What a good person

  • Very moving. Very heart felt. Bless this man. He is a good human and we need so many more on this planet today. That you thank you.

  • Words spoken in poem about a story which lays bare the heart..

your story telling Trooper Walsh, is truly great art.

    Thank you and all Officers

    JustJane

  • Very touching, as a Retired Police Officer, this is and will always be my kind of hero, over any boxing champion. God bless this man.

  • nice..:)

  • I noticed many retired and active Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) thankful and supportive comments. Please Sirs, continue to get these wonderful examples out to everyone in our society, a society that has become so hate-filled of anyone wearing a badge. These brave, selfless and dedicated men and women are being murdered and ambushed much too frequently today.Something must be done so that repeat offenders are not out with guns, attacking our citizens and LEOs! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOU SERVICE!

  • this is the kind of story--that makes A LL THE UNHAPPINESS AND SADNESS IN THIS WORLD--TEMPORARILY DISAPPEAR--MAY GOD BLESS THIS MAN--AND ALL THE OTHERS IN THIS WORLD--WHO CARE ENOUGH FOR HUMANITY TO TAKE THE TIME--TO HELP OTHERS.----it is so wonderful to live in such a wondeful country--where most of the people care for each other--GOD BLESS AMERICA--G MONTGOMERY

  • Thank you Trooper Walsh for sharing your awesome story. Your kindness exhibited so well a young girl wants to follow in your footsteps. Current statistics reveal an unacceptable number of LEOs being slaughtered, shot in the head,Sworn to protect every citizen and uphold the laws left their families on holidays wondering if they would return. God bless you for telling this story, please continue to do so. We need every LEO to advocate by sharing stories like yours. Thank you and God bless.

  • This brings back a lot of memories over 23 years in law enforcement. God Bless you Bob for your poignant recollection of this beautiful story and your service to your fellow citizens.

  • I enjoyed this also & brought back memories of my days in the Police Dept.,Have a nice New Year old friend.

  • This is a man who has an insight that most of us will never know. That he took the time to record this, is a blessing to us all. If this doesn't make you tear up, you have some serious issues. God Bless.

  • Thank you for that touching story. From a retired police sergeant.

  • Oh, I knew it before he said the last line. And I burst out crying.....and I am NOT ONE GIVEN TO CRYING!

Well, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

    stew

    STEW

  • OH WOW with eyes welled up !!!!

  • Goodness, if I hadn't ended up crying out what I had left last night, I'd be sobbing right now.

  • tough to respond with tears rolling from my eyes.
