All pwn the game: Before you advance, make sure everyone has 18 in all abilities and 100 in all skills. Every counter you will win initiative (function of speed), jump into shadows, and then do whatever you need to do (Nuclear Blast, jump out for a critical hit, etc.) -- even the million hp T-Rex goes down in one hit.
The belfry is the one place you are guaranteed monsters (bats, which are relatively weak, although the occasional annoying vampire bat which can poison you).
For most races, you should be able to rotate between Samurai-Monk-Ninja. This you want to do every 12-14 levels or so until you have 100 skill in everything. (Beyond a certain point, xp gets large) Kirijitsu is the skill affecting critical hit (auto-kill) and ninjitsu governs ability to hide in shadows.
Great review! I was glad that this was the first Wizardry that did away with the alignment system, which also meant no more limits on party members who could adventure together. I got Bane from the Ultimate Wizardry Archives. Thanks for the review!
I always found Wizardry to be a little too difficult, but I enjoyed the nintendo ports. They always seem to be a little more (but no too much) simplified.
is this out on anything else but pc i dont think i could play this on windows 7

I pwned this game, but spent too much time on it. (Probably wanted to know about bots and automation when I was playing it.)
SirTech actually had a guide (which I recently threw out my copy ... oops).
Saving is your best friend. If you die, restore ... try again. Save before you level up to ensure you go upwards in multiple stats.
One key about this is that once you get to a mid-level, before going further, attack the bats (in the belfry) MANY times. More in second comment.

Graphics are the least important factor in an RPG. Even a couple text based games kick ass.
