Neer really listened to this band, but they did a damn good cover of this song. Much respect to anyone who recognizes the beeauty of Jeff Buckleys music. Great job One Republic!!
It is a great song! But with the exceptions of a few, "New York, NY" and "All Along the Watchtower" come to mind, the original is usually considered the best. But let's give credit where it's due, this isn't the easiest song to reproduce--especially vocally, and these guys hold their own (and did it live!)... I have to say I'm always amazed at the amount of zeal shown by Buckley fans, especially by those who were aware of him before his death. The guy obviously was doing something right.
I bet Jeff Buckley is turning in his grave right now, because all of you JB ELITISTS thinking he's the best musician ever. I agree that he's really good, but you people are so single minded. You hear me, SINGLE MINDED.
@spuddeer and rayyan88: completely agree with you that jeff was the best musician ever. But I think OneRepublic don't ruin it. I think there's two reasons why bands/artists cover a song: 1) to offer a new interpretation & to change it radically and 2) to pay hommage to the original artist. To me, this cover is definitely No. 2. Jeff was so great, no one comes near him musically - even OneRep might be aware of that. So do you want to stop bands from covering Jeff? Would be kinda lame, eh?
whats the point in trying to cover this song. without nailing it you just sound pathetic. jeff buckley is the best musician to walk this earth and this is just a painful attempt at something beutiful
i think this is a nice cover since natalie merchant. im not a fan of one republic but i felt the emotion of this cover. also jeffs and natalies version.
Why would you cover this song? Ruining the song, this song means so much to a lot of people and bands such as one republic try to take away the meaning of the song away from everyone who love this song and jeff buckley
oh, and to all the TWATS on here that think this cover is poor, what can you offer as a better alternative? I know the guitar and drum parts aren't entirely faithful, but the vocal is amazingly close to the original and I don't know of anyone that can sound this good and pull it off live that's done this tune.
Show me the fucking goods, or your complaints are without foundation.
This is a fantastic live cover. One Republic might be pop, but they do this well. As far as I'm concerned its not them that should fuck off but MUSE and other fuckers out there that have made their money off Buckley and Radiohead's sound.
And this guy is a way better and truer singer than that fuckstick matt bellendamy.
This is such a spot on vocal performance that it fucking hurts. Even Buckley struggled performing this live, and rarely went for all the extra oohs and aahs live like this.
as a jeff fan, this offends me. but only to a point. as much as i hate one republic and all their poppy shit, it is nice to hear bands pay homage to the greatest musician that ever lived. so kudos to whichever music mogul wrote this song into one republic's contract. but fuck you to one republic, for ever daring to agree to take on jeff's masterpiece.
they r honoring jeff by singing this its not like there sayin they sang it better..giv them a break ofcourse jeff sang it better he is a great singer/performer nd its hais masterpiece just can u cut them a little slack nd they dnt sing pop..pop is brittany spears or a boy band just to let u im kno not tryin to start an argument
i don't think it suuuuucks... it's obviously not as good as jeff's version...
mm... the singer's voice doesn't give me shivers tho, and this song is supposed to make you shiver... he needs to sing with true passion cuz he seemed like... happy? and this is defo not a happy song.
THIS IS THE ANTICHRIST... get this version off the airwaves... there are so many things wrong with this travesty that i would rather drink cat urine... seriously...
Good job 1RBLPC!

Impressive cover. Nothing the least bit interesting or new about it, but definitely a difficult song to cover.

I never heard of this band...but they do a competent version. Not sure what the disgust is about.
The semi orchestrated arrangement is a nice touch too.

nothing wrong with one republic covering the song. I prefer JB's version, but can please everyone it seems.

It boils down to Buckley getting some recognition... we all win.

Not great but if it gets people to listen to the original then its all good.

Whatever about the band (they're not playing all the right chords - maybe on purpose?) the vocals are pretty good, I think

thank you, for finally offering a decent, cohesive and true opinion.
i hate matt bellamy.
this isnt so bad, to be fair.
the singer hits the notes he intends to hit, and it is jeff buckley after all.

what the hell? any band has the right to cover whoever the fuck they want. you didnt have to watch the video.
on top of that, they did a way better job than I expected, I'm pretty impressed. and yes, I'm a "jeff fan".
