I was so surprise to find out that Jean Arthur was in her '90s when she died. My mother and I said that when she made all those movies she must have been about then years older than we thought. Way to go Jean.
What production! Sure miss those montages they used to do in these films. So effective. And the scene where Cary Grant goes to the house in the rain. The camera paned past the place name. Lens opening must have been very, very small to get that depth of field, unless it was a composite. And Grant falling down the stair looked real to moi.
Jean Arthur, is one in a million. Hard to believe she often tossed her cookies before shooting a scene due to stage fright but once the camera rolled she was perfect.
I believe she regretted not having children, and in Shane had a problem somewhat playing the mother of the little boy in that film.
Sadly, her addiction was alcohol and was arrested once because of cats I believe and wasn't recognized as a Movie Star and she told the police that if she was Kate Hepburn they wouldn't arrest her!
@emilyteagarden Yep. Have you read her bio? It's actually a very good read. I'm a huge fan of Jean Arthur's, and if you are too, then trust me, you gotta read the bio, "The Actress Nobody Knew." Good stuff.
Jean Arthur was beautiful, just beautiful. And what a voice! Does anybody know if the movie "The Whole Town's Talking" with Jean Arthur and Edward G. Robinson has been posted? I've been dying to see that classic!
I've never seen this movie before and thank you for uploading it. All the work that these wonderful artists in front of the camera and behind the camera should be available to people. It's art and youtube is like having your own private museum.
@ashleyg325 ~ She may have even been older than that. Though IMDB gives her birth year as 1900, I've seen other sources giving it as 1897 and 1898. Be that as it may, she was indeed remarkably youthful looking, and I love her, in everything.
i wonder if this is a comedy. A little bit weird for me to see Ronald Colman in a comedy after watching him in Random Harvest, Lost Horizon and A Double Life but still, a great actor. Cary Grant on the other hand, well, great. Both are great.
I think Colman has a nice touch for light humor even in films which aren't outright comedy, e.g. as the roguish poet Francois Villon in "If I Were King," or Sydney Carton in "Tale of Two Cities." There's also the uproarious, if absurd, "Champagne for Caesar."
thanks for uploading this movie :D

my god Cary Grant, very young and without the Hollywood glamour yet. the best male actor of the classic cinema.
