  • the best part and the movie

  • leave ur balls take the cock

  • Thumbs Up if You <3 Cannollis

  • And that pretty much sums up my family gatherings...

  • great

  • take the gun and leave the cannoli..lol

    forgetabouti...shhhish

  • @icon200

You can go hungry after murdering someone:D

  • everyone misquotes this, the cannoli is pluralized in the line. he says cannolis, clearly. im unsure why it is so commonly misquoted with such a simple mistake.

  • @iownyouall4444

Cannoli is plural. The singular form is cannolo. He does not say cannolis.

  • Don't be naive. Paulie was the rat that also told them the Don's moves so the hit would go easier.

  • i still dont know why they killed paulie

  • when they tried to kill don corleone......Paulie called in sick on that day

  • but that doesnt necissarilly mean he was in on it

  • in the mob that does.

  • It does mean it. Mob families aren't like a job. You practically live with one another.

To suddenly call in sick on the very day the person he protects gets hit means he was-- at minimum-- paid to walk away

  • @TheShax22 look at how he acted around all of them.... he clearly betrayed them... and they saw right through it.

  • well it's not a smart move to do when the don gets shot............

  • Maybe Paulie didnt know the Attempted Assassination of Vito Corleone..

The maybe killed him because He wasnt present a few days

  • they told him to call in sick so they cud try and wack the don

  • This line is a combination between funny and genius!

  • Excellent way to show that all these things, murder, food, violence, and danger is just a natural part of daily life. Brilliant line.

  • I better make sure the cannoli gets to me before the gun does...Clemenza rules!

  • That is some great improvisation!

  • In soviet russia, guns leave you and cannoli takes you!

  • Wrong.

  • There's no reason to dispose of the body. The reason they leave the gun is because its untraceable (or at least they hope it is). Better to leave it for the cops to find than to take it with you, get pulled over and have the gun found on you. Most professional killers who have confidence the gun can't be linked to them leave it behind.

  • It basically signifies the attempt ( largely successful,in some ways) of trying to separate the business from home life. Tony S. tried it also. I believe I read somewhere that the line " Leave the gun, take the cannoli" was improvisation. I don't iknow whether or not that's true.

  • G;ad he didn't screw up and say Leave the gun, take the matzo balls."

  • Small unforgettable details like the cannolis ...this is the stuff great movie are made off

  • funny

  • It mean's that the cannoli's are more important than making sure the dead body is disposed off

  • they didn't want dispose the body goddammit

    why anybody get it?

  • @huaun You would leave the body in this situation for RESPECT. It's to show the rest of the family don't trade. They left the gun because it was untraceable so, you leave it there for the police. They took the cannoli because Clemenza's wife told him to bring some home.

  • tu verra dormire con i pesci (you will sleep with the fishes)

  • Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.what is the cannoli?is it some sort of sicilian cake or what?

  • a cannoli is a dessert cake kinda thing. never had one but ive seen them.

  • it's what Connie gave to don Altobello at the opera(but with poison rsrs) and he died.

  • its extremely sweet custard inside a hard crunchy shell with a sprinkle of sweet flour

  • i dont get it.....

  • There's nothing to get... It's just showing that they're cold SOBs. They just killed their friend and as they're getting ready to dispose of him they take his food so they'll have something to munch on as they're getting rid of his body - at least I think that's what happened - it's been a few years since I've seen this movie.

  • no you're wrong they just killed paulie and ryte before they left the big guys house his wife was nagging him about forgeting the cannoli. but still its a great movie

  • Right-- the point is, they are stone cold killers, but they are afraid of pissing off the wife, who warned them not to forget the cannoli... it's ironic

  • Wrong. They left the gun and the body as a warning to others. But cannolis, well, you don't waste good pastry!

  • @ssaftler No he took the connolis because his wife told him not to forget.

  • @ssaftler Wrong. All good assassins leave the gun. It is sometimes the only thing that can tie you to the crime.

  • @gitchigoomi

Why not get rid of the gun, rather than leave something around that has a history that one can attempt to trace.

  • @imblessedso They use guns that aren't traceable to them and they don't leave the scene with them in their possession. The gun being in their possession would link them to the killing through ballistics.

  • @ssaftler Amen!

  • @ssaftler Why leave the gun? So the police can deduce how they ended up dead and riddled with bullets:

"Hey Chief, that mafia informant was found dead and full of bullets"

"Hmm, now why would he eat a load of bullets? Was he hungry?"

"uuuuh, we also found a gun..."

"Aw yeah! he must have been shot! Oh it's obvious now"

  • They didn't dispose of Paulie, they left him there to be found. They wanted him found as a message to all traitors. ( I re-read the book recently)

  • I agree best line ever

  • This line was used in CSI:NY and CSI.

  • the best line ever

  • Clemenza!
