There's no reason to dispose of the body. The reason they leave the gun is because its untraceable (or at least they hope it is). Better to leave it for the cops to find than to take it with you, get pulled over and have the gun found on you. Most professional killers who have confidence the gun can't be linked to them leave it behind.
