@LaughingOutKraut LOL since this is a lesson, do you really expect his "students" to be clapping and screaming like little girls as soon as John shows them a groove?
@BurningAlienSyndrome I didn't expect them to bust out in a dance, but those people on Hudson's videos don't even nod their heads once. It's like they've put mannequins on their seats.
I look at Tim Waterson's technique when double double strokes, etc.
And please don't give the "its the fastest they know of" crap.
Tim Waterson is the fastest and that's that. If there were somebody faster they would not be hiding behind the closet. Someone like that would know something like WFD.
Well put, I checked Tim out, that's some fast *ish. I use heel-toe too so feels good to know that maximum output on my double pedal doesnt require a change in technique, just gotta get used to that left foot heel-toe too. I wonder who's gonna break the record if anyone.
When was it recorded and how long has he held the record?
look up: Tim Waterson's World Record Bass Drum Techniques DVD Trailer on youtube. I don't recall when he made the record but he's had the doubles record for awhile. He used to have the singles record until Mike Mallias took it, but then Tim made an unofficial record beating that.
It seems that Tim can have some possible challenger! Look up: Worlds Fastest Double Bass - 1530 in 60 seconds.
Tim said he has raised his doubles record again and this guy needs to abide by WFD rules.
This new challenger who did 1530 in a minute probably had a different set-up than the one in WFD thus making him beat Tim's established 1407 hits. As I stated before Tim stated that he beat his former 1407 record unofficially as well.
I've seen some other pretty fast guys out there can be competition to Tim but they must abide by WFD rules. Look up Dreammotive and thelinearpractiseday. ;D
Why was it so important to state who had the fastest foot? Lol we all know that John Blackwell's isn't it, and as long as there are drummers practicing people are gonna keep getting faster, so I don't think you'll ever really know who has the fastest foot. As long as we know that John's is definitely not it (no offense to him), I think we can all get along.
I did not say that metal drummers are better. I did not say Jojo Mayer sucks. I did not say that I like George Kollias more than Jojo Mayer. I did not say that George Kollias can play the whole drum set with one foot while he eats, drinks, and takes a shit simultaneously. Jojo Mayer's foot is fucking S-L-O-W! Okay?!
@Justs99171 Frustrated people never get tyred of insulting other ones.
People, please give a warm, hearty applaus for this corteous person beneath me for one of the dumbest conclusions in drumming EVER, which is "Jojo Mayer's foot is fucking S-L-O-W! Okay?!" And here's the proof, Jojo mayer IS really slow...... /watch?v=xKg_4ECvg7s
Please don't miss to check out the very slowest part from 3:17 on in the linked video. For "Justs99171" only, you have to type in youtube.com before it.
@EvolRogg I get frustrated with total illiterate fucking morons making irrelevent point after irrelevent point in an attempt to attack something for the sake of defending their threatenened idols. This sir, is a true indication of fucking fanatical idiocy. And YES! That guys foot is incredibly slow.
@circleslammer In the business? In the whole business? JoJo Mayer nor John Blackwell have an average foot compared to metal drummers. George Kollias can play a gazillion and 1 times faster with only one foot than anyone outside of metal can play with two.
@Justs99171 dude, were talking two completely different types of music, and in my opinion speed doesnt mean shit if it doesnt groove. jojo and john have some great grooves and use their feet very creatively within the pocket.
@circleslammer Dude, what the guy says was that so and so has the fastest foot in the whole industry. He didn't say so and so has the fastest foot in this or that type of music. And dude, I didn't say speed was everything. JoJo and John are great drummers; but dude, their feet are not very fast.
@Justs99171 I love George Kollias cause he's the "grooviest" metal-drummer in my opinion. His foot speed is awesome, but I didn't see anyone else playing a single paradiddle with SINGLE FOOT like Jojo Mayer in a drumsolo in a Nerve gig. Mayer plays the sickest single foot rudiments and patterns I've ever seen. So I don't give anything about 280bpm with single foot. It's cool, it fits to the music Kollias supports but it's not state of the art for all kind of music styles.
@EvolRogg Okay ... are you STUPID? I wish stupid people would quit talking to me. I never said shit about single foot rudiment patterns. George Kolias plays faster with one foot than Jojo Mayer. Some moron on here said Jojo Mayer has the fastest foot in the whole music biz. Jojo Mayer does not even have standard speed for a metal drummer, therefore he does not have the fastest foot in the whole fucking music biz. Can we move on now?
I didn't realize John Henry played drums.

@soccerrulez I do not know for sure, but judging by the beater heads and his endorsment contract with Tama, I would guess that it's an Iron Cobra.
