Marcis was one of those guys who would somehow qualify for Daytona, but fail to make just about every other race. He was a decent driver who had definitely seen better days.
the highest finishing military car was Alan Kuwicki's Army car which finished 7th....He didn't have a sponsor at this time after Zerex left him in 1990..
I was only 12 years old when this race was aired. I remember how patriotic the introduction to the race was when that actor country singer, Lee Greenwood sung "God bless the usa..", since we were involved in that persion gulf war. After the flyover & the firing of the cars, i was in awe how much i would enjoy the years to come of nascar racing, but nowadays there's nothing special about it. There really are no charaters like Earnhardt, Petty, Marcis (LOL, he raced with wing tips shoes!)
What is the song which they play in the starting grid.

I remember this, it was when we were at war in the Gulf and some cars were carrying Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and Army colors.
