So it took two weeks to capture the %37 of the island from scratch (650-strong regiment) to Corps size troops. And believe me, the rest %60 could be captured in two-three days.Ask your veterans who escaped to British bases at that dates.The only place where you can resist a little bit was the Trodos mountains. What happened was that Makarios believed that ENOSIS couldn't achieved. I believe that if the fights lasted a little more british would left because they didn't want to have any more problems. I don't know what changed but while he was for ENOSIS he changed his ideas and he wanted peace and a united repubic of both greeks and turks

@spartiati75 First part of operation was between 20-28 July and the second part was between 14-18 August. Between 28 July-14 August there were no offensive operations. So it took two weeks to capture the %37 of the island from scratch (650-strong regiment) to Corps size troops. And believe me, the rest %60 could be captured in two-three days.Ask your veterans who escaped to British bases at that dates.The only place where you can resist a little bit was the Trodos mountains. For turkey to be able to invade cyprus, they had to ask the americans, which ordered the greeks to remove all naval vessels and military personnel from the area around cyprus. Because we had a corrupt ruler at the time, which accepted the threat of america, they left a clear path for turkey. The invasion was not a hidden secret. Even the line where turkey would reach was drawn. The greek military was ordered not to go beyond that line.

What happened was that Makarios believed that ENOSIS couldn't achieved. I believe that if the fights lasted a little more british would left because they didn't want to have any more problems. I don't know what changed but while he was for ENOSIS he changed his ideas and he wanted peace and a united repubic of both greeks and turks

@8rylos4ever i would never trust a greek because most of them are radical religious or racist nationalists. i know there may be some intermediate greeks among them but i wouldn't take any risk. it is not specific to greeks. people of the region from croatia to iraq are all barbaric. they easily kill and suffer the different. i'm sure that many greeks think that i don't deserve to live here in anatolia, according to them i have to go back to mongolia where i have no bonds in fact.
