  • Im for freedom also, BUT i think this group deliberatly sets up these group gatherings just to see what they can get away with & what the reaction towards the city and police department will do & how far they can push them & possibly get arrested if they can and then make a big deal out of it!!! COMON people common sense that you know that ALL citys have ordinances and laws you have to follow & permits you have to have to setup these types of group festivals, EVERYONE KNOWS THIS IF U LIVE THERE

  • Why is it that you guys never have constitutional lawyer on hand to defend you surely you could find someone who is a lawyer interested in freedom and your constitution.What you do is so important at this time and If I lived in the States it would be NH. Your constitution and bill of rights is what makes you different from all other western societies.We do not share those rights here in Australia only world human rights set by the UN.You're lucky look after your rights.Peace guys and gals.

  • lawyers are part of the system and take oath to the B.A.R. and works for the krouts, opps, I mean courts. Just as bad as cops and judges, their all part of the system of the down.

  • @2wheels88 good point my friend...having a lawyer at a rally is a very intelligent idea...needs to happen for real...as cops a just regular joe's and did not truly study law unlike lawyers...im in th u.s. and the problem is a good % of people just don't care or know enough about there rights...and therefore won't use them properly either...thus screwing themselves over... WAKE UP..fellow americans

  • Wow what some people will do, Ridley you need to reconsider the topics you spend time on. Is this really big enough of an issue? And the police did an excellent job many could have been arrested but were not. Yes I know the law too and most likely better than those "activist" who chose the smallest community to demonstrate in, is it fear of being told your issue is weak or were they just picking on a small town? Do you guys know where the capitol is? Its not Keene.

    What do you think would happen if the cops were also elected to their positions? Do you think they would be so threatening? How do you think they would act?

  • I think they would act just the same. They perceive they have the power of the state behind them and almost all men, with few exceptions, when they have that kind of power will abuse it. We elect officials all the time only to see them abuse power and write oppressive laws. I believe that many become police officers because they are at heart bullies, tyrants, and cowards. They abuse us because they see themselves as THE LAW.

  • Why do police speed with impunity or fail to wear thier seatbelts when they will stop us and cite us for a violation if we do? Because they know no one will stop them. Unbridled and unchecked power leads to arrogance, abuse, and hypocrisy.

    Look at Ivy when the Marshals came to harass her. She was peacefully going about her business serving her customers. All the customers were gathered peacefully, not interfering with one another's enjoyments, and in walk the Marshals...

  • intimidating,violent, oppressive...taking Ivy outside and threatening her with arrest or bribing her...all without cause or warrant.

    Compare the cops with the rest of us. We all get up in the morning and go about our business serving one another peacefully, spontaneously, in voluntary exchange. While the cop gets up in the morning, straps on a gun and goes about intimidating, brutalizing, threatening, harming, or killing others.

    The cop is the state, and the state force.

  • This is odd. You replied 9 hrs ago & youtube only alerted me minutes ago that you replied. Interesting. I try look at it like Gravel's National Initiative would be, similarly in place as well, but seeing as it's not, the laws all may have to change 1st. I'm trying to think of it more as a 1 year max with a limit of 2-3 years being reelected yearly with an alternate being elected as well, with no benefits and whatnot. Perhaps even make the position voluntary & subject to review?

  • What is the incentive then? If the position is voluntary and the pay is meager then I'm sure there will be a lot more incentive to follow true common law practices and that may encourage the ones who want to use force (police with guns) to grow up and work things out between themselves. This is not entirely impossible you know. I think with lower reward the position may be filled with more ethics and a responsibility to the people which is more true. Sure it's got flaws, but what do we have now?

  • It was publicized on Free Minds TV and Free Talk Live that no permits would be obtained. So, I'm guessing either some bureaucrat or some other busy-body complained.

    [Art.] 32. [Rights of Assembly, Instruction, and Petition.] The people have a right, in an orderly and peaceable manner, to assemble and consult upon the common good, give instructions to their representatives, and to request of the legislative body, by way of petition or remonstrance, redress of the wrongs done them, and of the grievances they suffer.

  • The US constitution supersedes the NH constitution. Either way they have the right to be there assembled on public property.

  • "Congress shall make no law", that means congress. Not the several states.

    At the time, Massachusetts and other religious states didn't want interference in their particular internal laws. The Constitution wouldn't have passed if the 1st meant what it has come to be used to mean over time.

    Maybe the 14th amendment "incorporates" the 1st as applying to the states, but since the courts still argue and bicker among themselves about that, why bother.

  • I agree that no matter what, anyone has the right to assemble anywhere they damn well please but I think the NH Constitution supersedes the crappy federal one.

  • The US Con should not Supersede the NH law.

    1. NH Con was first.

    2. The 9th Amend states :

    The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

    That if it isn't in the Con... then the people have those rights.

    3. 10th A:

    The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

  • Sadly, even the concept of "Federalism" is rarely taught.

    The functional reality (since 1861) that the states are merely administrative districts of the Federal government is so strong that people forget states even have constitutions.

  • Curt, I don't know where my other comment went. I'm rather sure the it's well settled the 1st is incorporated. But I don't mean to detract from the NH Constitution. Only to point out the judicial opinion today is that the U.S. Constitution also applies.

    That is an excellent way to put it. "Incorporation" is a term of convenience, used when the court wants to do this or that and not used when it wants to avoid this or that.

    Exactly. Judicial opinion changes constantly. By citing the NH constitution instead, ambiguity is decreased.

  • I don't believe that the cops came because someone complained. According tot he cops, the complaint was specifically over someone "holding an event without a permit." Who would complain about that? Who would even know whether we had a permit?
